Abstract

The issue of the relationship between Islam with the gender and human rights is a matter of praxis whose development can be witnessed through various channels, one of which is a scientific journal. Through scientific journals, the issues that are of concern to academics in the university environment are recognized. This study aims to analyze the extent to which issues of mainstreaming gender, human rights, and Islam can be summarized in the Jurnal Musawa, Jurnal Perempuan, and various journals in the Directory Open Access Journal (DOAJ) which   also   reflect the contemporary problems of society. Specifically, this research also produced a strategic understanding for the management of scientific journals in order to be able to adjust its function as a medium for academic dissemination with the latest developments in the fast-moving scientific world. This study is qualitative research by descriptive approach. The results of mapping and analysis show that the relation of women with legal, violence, and political issues is the main concern of academics. The emergence of these issues is seen as more than just a response to various injustices and human rights violations against women and children that occurred in Indonesia. In addition to the three issues above, other issues that emerge with high intensity and are evenly distributed in each journal are child marriage, feminism in the form of women’s movements, women’s leadership, or women’s positioning in local wisdom.]

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between the dimensions of college adjustment and domains of emotional intelligence among final-year students (7th semester) with the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) curriculum. This research used a correlational method with a non-experimental quantitative approach. The study respondents were final-year students of the Faculty of Psychology, Padjadjaran University, who participated in MBKM activities outside the university during the sixth semester and resumed regular classes during the seventh semester. Among 72 eligible students, 67 participated in the study. The instruments used to measure college adjustment and emotional intelligence were the translated version of Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire (SACQ) and an instrument based on Goleman's emotional intelligence theory, respectively. Correlation tests were conducted using the Pearson Product Moment. The findings revealed a significant positive correlation between college adjustment and emotional intelligence (r = 0.410, p < 0.05). Furthermore, the analysis proved correlations among certain dimensions of college adjustment and domains of emotional intelligence. The implications highlight the role of MBKM activities in enhancing students' skills to support their adaptation and emotional intelligence.

Abstract

This article discusses the altering image of American Jews in Hollywood movies. Coming to America during the great migration,  mostly from Eastern Europe, this Azkenazic Jews then contributed to the building and transformation of the Hollywood movies as a world icon.  Though quite dominant, Jews are quite careful in this industry. Anti-Semitism, the World War and the Great Depression are some of the things that make Jews uncomfortable about being in the spotlight or talking about their identity among the Christian audience of the movies. However, the condition changed after the Second World War and the civil rights movement in the 1960s. Jews and Judaism later appeared in various representations, which does not only change their image in Hollywood, but also the acceptance of American society broadly. Focusing on the movie, Ben Hur: A Tale of the Christ (1959) as the object of research, the study explores how Jewish people represent themselves through films produced, including the negotiations and changes made as part of the American Jews. Using the theory of Stuart Hall’s Politics of Representation and Critical Discourse Analysis from Fairclough and Leuween as an approach, this work focuses on the analysis of text and images as a sign that represents the Jews and Judaism in the movie. Related to movie as a media construction, the filmmakers are able to reconstruct Jews in different image. Through the movie, the represented Jews are found to have conveyed various messages to the audience about their cultural and religious identity.

Abstract

As a study, documentary film is often used as a reference because of its historical, social, cultural and political representation which signifies the facts in society. It is no wonder that the production as well as the analysis of the film genre and its development around the world have created such debate, including in the academic realm. The film The Act of Killing is one of them. Directed by an American filmmaker, Joshua Oppenheimer, the film tries to reveal the other facts of Indonesian history which have been covered and never imagined before, especially, the implications of Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) massacre in 1965. Taking the testimony of the actors, the film is quite controversial because it tells and descibes kind of sadism and human rights violations on PKI elements and other ethnicity. Thus it changes the world opinion about the Indonesian history in 1965. However, as a construction, film is a film. Sometimes, there is always a bias. What depicted in a film is a result of the cineast interpretation of historical events that may be different from other point of view. For instance, a contradictory between humanity and ideology has created a discourse among the viewers. While the director focus on a violation of human rights and set everything based on this perspectives, the actors or the perpetrators feel that what they did was a form of struggle to defense the country.

Abstract

Menstrual pain (Dysmenorrhea) is pain in the lower abdomen that spreads to the waist and thighs that is felt before and after menstruation. Dysmenorrhea can be experienced by women who have higher intrauterine pressure and have twice the prostaglandin levels than women who do not experience dysmenorrhea. In the world, the incidence of desmenorrhea exceeds 50%. Meanwhile in Indonesia, it is estimated that 55% of productive women experience dysmenorrhea which interferes with their activities. Dysmenorrhea pain can be treated with non-pharmacological therapy, one of which is deep breathing relaxation techniques. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of deep breathing relaxation techniques on reducing dysmenorrhea pain in adolescent girls at the Indah Dormitory in Cemani Village, Sukoharjo Regency. This research uses a quasi-experimental approach with a one group pre-test and post-test design approach. The research sample was 60 young female respondents with sampling using random sampling techniques. The results showed that there was a significant reduction in pain levels in the intervention group after the deep breathing relaxation technique was carried out. The average reduction in pain in the intervention group was 2.5 points on the VAS scale, while the control group only experienced a reduction of 0.5 points. The statistical test results showed a significant difference (p < 0.05) between the intervention group and the control group, indicating that the deep breathing relaxation technique was effective in reducing dysmenorrhea pain. Beautiful Cemani Village. It is hoped that young women can perform deep breathing relaxation techniques correctly when experiencing pain due to dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

In recent years, Integrated Islamic Elementary Schools (Sekolah Dasar Islam Terpadu, SDIT) have witnessed significant expansion, particularly in Indonesia’s urban areas. Targeting urban professionals and the upper-middle class, these institutions present a novel educational model that integrates secular and religious instruction. This movement actively disseminates broader Islamic symbols to the public while conducting specific experiments, such as the Islamization of formal education. Notably, several SDITs, classified as elite elementary schools in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, exhibit distinct teaching methodologies and incorporate ideological elements that diverge from those commonly found in public elementary schools, which are often perceived as more inclusive. Employing Michel Foucault’s concept of narrative and his framework of power-knowledge as an analytical lens, this study identifies the integration of these schools’ curricula as a significant marker of the emergence of a “new style of Islam” within Indonesia’s educational landscape. This evolving religious paradigm is characterized by an accelerated incorporation of Islamic symbols and the narratives of Post-Reform Islam, including pedagogical approaches that emphasize the teaching of “kaffah” Islam and the cultivation of religious identity from an early age. Educational institutions interpret this transformation favorably, viewing it as an intersection of economic, ideological, and religious opportunities.[Dalam beberapa dekade terakhir, Sekolah Dasar Islam Terpadu (SDIT) telah mengalami perkembangan signifikan, khususnya di kawasan perkotaan Indonesia.
