Abstract

Mastery of a teacher in conducting integrated learning is important in every lesson, especially in elementary schools. The achievement of learning carried out by a teacher cannot be separated from the learning models used. This community service activity is based on the fact that not all teachers in elementary schools master the learning material, this is because these teachers are graduates from multidisciplinary sciences. So that the learning carried out by the teacher experiences problems in the process of delivering material to students. The purpose of this activity is to provide training to teachers to master integrated social studies learning models that are in accordance with learning in the 21st century and especially learning during this pandemic. This training activity uses observation, interview and participant-centered methods through direct simulation techniques, and is followed by evaluation at the final stage of the activity. The output target generated in this activity is the development of an innovative integrated social studies learning model in the new normal era.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the low academic achievement of 10th-grade students in the sociology course. This is evident from the final exam scores for the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of using the quantum learning model in the sociology course (Phase E) on student learning outcomes at SMAN 1 Suliki. The method used in this study was a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The research data obtained showed that the normality test was conducted using SPSS with the Shapiro-Wilk test; since the sample size was 36 < 50, the results of the normality test indicated that the Shapiro-Wilk values for the control and experimental classes were < 0.05, the control class pretest was 0.031, the control posttest was 0.034, and the experimental class pretest was <0.001, while the experimental posttest was 0.003; the data were categorized as non-normal. In the homogeneity test, the data showed that the mean was <0.05 (0.017 < 0.05), so the data was categorized as non-homogeneous. Meanwhile, in the results of the hypothesis test conducted using the Mann-Whitney Test, we can see that the Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) was <0.05 (specifically <0.001), indicating a significant difference between the control and experimental classes. Since the result of the Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) test is when the Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) value is less than 0.05, it can be concluded that the use of the quantum learning model has an effect on student learning outcomes at SMAN 1 Suliki.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum (Kurikulum Merdeka) has been implemented at SMPN 1 Kecamatan IV Jurai, Pesisir Selatan Regency since the 2022/2023 academic year. The school has conducted workshops at the beginning of each semester to socialize the Independent Curriculum and develop teaching materials in the form of teaching modules. Teachers have also created belajar.id accounts and joined subject-specific communities both within the school and in communities across the regency. This study is motivated by several challenges encountered in implementing the Independent Curriculum, particularly in differentiated learning. These challenges include teachers’ difficulties in recognizing and understanding the individual needs of each student, such as their skill levels, interests, learning styles, and learning preferences. Additionally, teachers face challenges in developing diverse teaching materials that meet students’ needs. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the implementation of differentiated learning within the Independent Curriculum at SMPN 3 Kecamatan IV Jurai, Pesisir Selatan Regency. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The informants consist of the principal, curriculum vice-principal, student affairs vice-principal, and eight teachers at SMPN 1 Kecamatan IV Jurai, selected using purposive sampling. The data consist of primary and secondary data collected through interviews and document studies. Data analysis follows the interactive model by Miles and Huberman, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate several stages in implementing differentiated learning: 1) understanding students through diagnostic tests, both academic and non-academic; 2) formulating learning objectives; 3) developing differentiated learning strategies; and 4) using ongoing assessment. Three approaches are applied in differentiated learning at SMPN 3 Kecamatan IV Jurai, Pesisir Selatan Regency: content differentiation, process differentiation, and product differentiation.

Abstract

Poverty has always been closely associated with farming and fishing communities, due to their inability to meet daily basic needs for survival and their lack of income. Compared to farmers, the poorest group in Sutera District is the fishermen, numbering 2,140 individuals (Padang Ekspres, April 21, 2012). Most residents of Pesisir Selatan depend on food crop agriculture, fisheries, and trade, while other potential resources include plantations and tourism. The majority of residents live along the coastline stretching from north to south. Their primary livelihoods are farming and fishing. Administratively, Pesisir Selatan Regency consists of 12 districts, 76 nagari (villages), and 364 kampung (hamlets). One of the poorer districts is Sutera, which consists of four nagari: Surantih, Taratak, Ampiang Parak, and Amping Parak Timur, with a population of 49,019. This study aims to describe the impact of empowerment programs on the socio-economic life of poor fishing households in Nagari Taratak, Sutera District, Pesisir Selatan Regency. The research method used is qualitative, with data collected through observation and in-depth interviews with informants selected using snowball sampling. Data validity was tested using triangulation, and analysis was carried out using the interactive model developed by Mathew Miles and Huberman. The program’s social impact included closer social interactions after the establishment of KUBE, stronger cooperation, and reduced competition. Its economic impacts can be seen in new employment opportunities for fishermen’s wives and children, increased income, and improved educational attainment among fishermen’s children. The KUBE program has therefore contributed positively to the economic life of fishermen who made use of it.
