Abstract

Implementation of the principles of Basic Human Rights in education is an issue on which the  struggle continues, both for males and for females. Islam is an egalitarian religion on this matter as stated in the hadith: “According to knowledge, it is obligatory for both Muslim males and females”, (al-Hadist). In the report on education (UIN SGD Bandung, 2008), gender was prioritised, however, discrimination and subordination linger in the interpretations of Islamic verses. Muthtar (YPJ, Topik Empu, 2010) has stated that education in Indonesia remains depressing in terms of the rights of females to education, such that there is a need for a feminist education for marginalised females to increase educational justice and equality for all citizens. 2015 is the year in which education for all is the target of the Millennium Development Goals, which also aim for basic educational access for all, as well as gender equality in primary and secondary schools. Sadli (2010) proposes that in the year that follows, another obstacle must be overcome – the need for equal access to higher education. In a similar vein to the notion that education most simply refers to human demand for knowledge, which starts with the nurturing received from mothers and proceeds throughout life (Life Long Learning), female activists are inspired to promote informal education as an alternative means to becoming educated.  Using a prospective approach, this paper outlines educational theory in relation to the rights of females. Further, it looks at how Islam offers educational guidance to females in relation to their roles in the domestic realm (almost 24 hours), and the achievements of the feminist movement in regard to gender and feminist education according to Islam and current Indonesian law. The results of this study offer recommendations which it is hoped will become learning tools and lessons for the critical construction of society. Education, for males and females, is a basic need and human right. Most important is the need to overcome the barriers to education for females.  Marginalised females, in particular, bear the right to access to basic, religious and feminist  education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies and roles of Islamic boarding schools in achieving educational programs amidst the threat of the spread of the Covid-19 epidemic. This research uses qualitative research with a case study research approach. The research was conducted at the Pesantren Border Aceh Tenggara as one of the pesantren assisted by the Aceh Province Islamic Boarding School Education Office. The results showed that the strategic management process carried out by the pesantren consisted of three interrelated processes, namely the formulation process, the implementation process (execution), and the strategic process (control). The last process is needed to provide input (feedback) for the next management process. The results of this study have implications for strategic management in pesantren management, namely: 1) the pesantren has managed to survive and strived to achieve the set academic program targets; 2) Islamic boarding schools as covid-19 prevention facilitators at the entrance to the provincial borders as a central place for health checks for immigrants who enter through the borders of Aceh province; 3) transformation of the learning system from traditional models to technology-based learning; and 4) the community is able to objectively assess educational institutions that are good in terms of management so as to allow a clear relationship between rewards and performance.

Abstract

In the current era of the new normal, substantial transformations are unfolding within the education sector. E-learning has emerged as a prevalent alternative for augmenting individual proficiencies and abilities. Madrasahs have transcended the confines of scientific dichotomy, instead embracing innovation and change. The online learning process, when effectively implemented, significantly impacts student quality improvement. This research aims to comprehensively analyze the dynamics of online learning, thereby discovering an online learning model in madrasas. The study is qualitative, using library analysis techniques. Data sources are derived from the results of scientific journal research or primary books. The study results identify various online learning modalities, namely (1) the contribution and significance of leadership roles in policy and building a culture that supports the learning process; (2) the enhancement of teacher and manager professionalism, specifically emphasizing technical skills (cognitive-practical); (3) the implementation of continuous monitoring and evaluation of the program's success, as well as a means of feedback on the direction of online learning. The research results also reveal that resource availability, teacher readiness, self-confidence, student accessibility, and motivation play essential roles in learning integrated with information technology.

Abstract

Background: This study explored and evaluated accessibility services at PTKIN (Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan Islam Negeri or State Islamic Religious Universities) after institutional transformation. The vision of institutional change that is more universal and inclusive is one of the triggers to see the extent to which Islamic higher education institutions have realized their commitment to accessibility services. Purpose: This study had examined the policy and implementation of accessibility services in the aspects of policy, practice, and institutional culture at PTKIN, with the main focus on UIN Imam Bonjol Padang, which has undergone transformation from an institute to a university. Method: This study used a qualitative case study approach. UIN Imam Bonjol Padang as the object of research by considering aspects of the fulfillment of institutional transformation elements from institute to university. Data collection techniques were through interviews, observation, and document analysis. Result: The results of this study showed that the institutional transformation of PTKIN in this study has not been in line with the fulfillment of the accessibility rights of educational institutions. UIN Imam Bonjol Padang, as a case study, still shows a lack of concrete policies in accessibility services for students. The absence of specific policies and limited accessibility infrastructure are the main factors that hinder the fulfillment of educational rights for students with special needs. Conclusion: This study confirms that PTKIN needs to prioritize accessibility as part of its post-transformation institutional policy. The main recommendations in this study are the need for clearer and more implementable policies, the development of infrastructure that supports accessibility, and increasing the awareness of the academic community of the importance of inclusive education services. Thus, institutional transformation is not only a change in administrative status, but also reflects an increase in the quality of educational services for all without discrimination.

Abstract

Technological development has significantly changed human social life, especially online social media. In Indonesia, device-based social media users reached 191.4 million in January 2022. This number is still being reduced to several types of social media widely used in Indonesia, such as YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, based on Data Reportal Research in February 2022. Female social media users could be said to be active on some social media sites. Consumption of content on social media often makes a spectacle a guide for women. Several perspectives on Javanese women, such as sumur-dapur-kasur, macak-masak-manak, swargo nunut, neroko katut, and Konco Wingking, have a positive philosophical meaning by building perceptions through social media. Therefore, this research explores the perspectives and experiences of Javanese women concerning their participation in the digital space. Using the ethnographic approach, a qualitative research strategy, the study involves in-depth observation, active engagement, and interpersonal interactions within a specific cultural group or community. The result of this research is the perspective of more modern Javanese women in a positive perspective and women themselves. In essence, all perspectives on the philosophical values of Javanese women have shifted, including in practice. Javanese women who open themselves to social media can develop their potential with all these perspectives because the opportunity to become more 'modern' lies in the woman's decision.
