Abstract

This study's goal was to contrast the results of of various vocabulary teaching methods, such as using context, dictionary definitions, and synonyms to teach vocabulary, on both transient and persistent vocabulary memory. Three groups of 90 intermediate EFL students were chosen at random and divided into: context, definition, and synonyms (thirty learners in each group). They received instruction in 30 vocabulary words over the course of two sessions. Two post-tests were administered, the first four weeks after the lesson and the second eight weeks later, to gauge student retention of vocabulary words. One-way ANOVA was used to evaluate the results. When compared to the other two approaches, the context method outperformed them in both postponed tests, according to the data. The study's conclusions have pedagogical ramifications for EFL instructors, students, syllabus designers, content creators, and language test creators. The study's findings also offer useful details on the best method for teaching vocabulary that results in longer-lasting retention of L2 terms.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate Kahoot's efficacy as an online test and its effects on students' academic performance. 15 students from the management major were chosen as research participants by purposive sampling for this study at STIA Satya Negara. Utilizing a qualitative approach, this investigation. Interviews and questionnaires were the research tools used in this study. The purpose of the study's questionnaire was to learn how students felt about Kahoot as a digital evaluation tool used for in-class online quizzes. Additionally, interviews that were semi-structured were done to find out how lecturers and students felt about Kahoot as a digital evaluation tool. According to the study's findings, Kahoot is actually used in EFL lessons. According to the findings of the student impression survey, the majority of students more than 70% are happy with the Kahoot application. The academic success of students is enhanced with Kahoot. The progression of the daily and weekly quizzes demonstrates that student performance has greatly improved from the first week, midterm, to final semester exams.

Abstract

Pengabdian keada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan keterampilan dan pengetahuan kepada para pelaku usaha perempuan yang menggeluti kain batik di sentra tenun kota palembang. Pendekatan pengabdian ini menggunakan metode wawancara, observasi, studi lapangan dan praktek lapangan, Hasil pengabdian ini terkait dengan pemberdayaan perempuan berbasis pendidikan nonformal terdapat beberapa proses mulai dari penyadaran hingga peningkatan minat perempuan untuk terlibat dalam pemberdayaan, proses penyadaran dilakukan dengan mengidentifikasi kebutuhan yang digunakan sebagai dasar pengambilan keputusan, program selanutnya adalah mendrong dan mengajak perempuan untuk berpertisipasi dalam program tersebut dengan mensosialisasikan kepada masyarakat luas, Proses tranformasi pengangetahuan dan keterampilan dilakukan dengan pelatihan sebagai upaya memberikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan bagi perempuan yang diseuaikan dengan kondisi perempuan dan dilakukan dengan metode praktek penyampaian materi membatik yang tujuannya adalah upaya untuk meningkatka kemandirian perempuan dalam pengembangan batik dan sekaligus upaya memperbaiki kualitas produksi batik yang mampu bersaing di pasaran nasional dan internasional.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out as a collaborative program between two tertiary institutions, STIA Satya Negara and Darussalam Polytechnic. This PKM aims to promote tourism in the city of Palembang. The activity was carried out through virtual ways (zoom meetings) with participants from Palembang city tourism activists, students and high school/vocational school students in the Palembang city area. After the pandemic, tourism in the city of Palembang entered a transitional period so that tourism, especially in this city, was getting better. Palembang is the oldest city in Indonesia which played an important role in the spread of Buddhism during the heyday of Sriwijaya so that in these traces there are many historical relics that are left behind and should be preserved as cultural heritage.

Abstract

To determine whether language learning is feasible, numerous researchers from around the world have studied this area; nevertheless, no real solution has yet been put forth in this regard. It is simpler to gain a command of the second language or even speak it fluently with linguistic comprehension and knowledge. This study does a meta-analysis of three study programs to examine the applicability of the various strategies and methodologies suggested in this research project related vocabulary learning or lexical knowledge. The results demonstrated that the learners' lexical knowledge strategies encompassed cognitive, metacognitive, social, willpower, and memory techniques. Additionally, competent people preferred making assumptions based on context and scenario and employing dictionary references. Additionally, this study looked into the relationship between the background, circumstance, approach, context, and therapy using a vocabulary acquisition strategy. The findings indicated that while the instructors used particular teaching methods in accordance with their curricula and preferred distinct methods, the L2 beginners came from diverse backgrounds and situations. The study's findings suggest that in order to effectively encourage the new EFL learners to improve their vocabulary, the instructors must be fully aware of the significance of using an appropriate strategy for English language teaching (ELT) in STKIP Muhammadiyah Pagaralam.
