Abstract

In the elderly, the cardiovascular system will experience changes, such as arteries losing their elasticity, which can cause an increase in pulse and systolic blood pressure. Elderly exercise utilizes movement by activating the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems and increasing the release of various hormones which cause the individual's condition to relax. Elderly exercise is a physical activity that is useful for eliminating fat and cholesterol in blood vessels. This exercise is rarely carried out routinely at research sites. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of elderly exercise on hypertension in the elderly at the Sei Lekop Community Health Center. This study used a pre-experimental research design with a one group pre-post test design with probability sampling, involving 31 elderly people with hypertension. Blood pressure was measured with a spygmomanometer and elderly exercise was carried out according to procedures. Data analysis was carried out using paired t-test. The results showed that the average blood pressure before the intervention was 150.00/94.48 mmHg, whereas after the intervention the average blood pressure was 140.48/90.48 mmHg, with a p value = 0.001 for systolic pressure and 0.003 for diastolic pressure, so it was proven that there was a significant influence on blood pressure before and after the elderly exercise intervention was given to the elderly at the Sei Lekop Community Health Center. It is hoped that elderly exercise can be used and become a work program at the Community Health Center which is carried out routinely for both elderly people with hypertension and those who are healthy.

Abstract

. Reward and punishment are very important in motivating nurse performance, because through reward and punishment nurses will become more qualified and responsible for the tasks given. This study aims to determine the relationship between reward and punishment and the work motivation of inpatient nurses at Bakti Timah Karimun Hospital. This research uses quantitative research using a correlational descriptive design and a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were all inpatient nurses at Bakti Timah Karimun Hospital, namely 59 nurses. The sampling technique used total sampling where sample selection was carried out by determining all 59 subjects who met the research criteria. The method used in collecting data was by filling out questionnaires by respondents. Data analysis uses univariate analysis and bivariate analysis. The results of the research show that the reward frequency distribution is mostly in the high category at 54.24%, the frequency of punishment in the high category is 55.93%, the frequency of motivation in the high category of nurses is 50.85%. It is hoped that nurses will increase their knowledge about the applicable reward and punishment system through seminars/socialization in order to increase work motivation and control behavior that can reduce the effectiveness of nurses' performance.

Abstract

In the field of palliative care nursing, Breaking Bad News (BBN) involves providing accurate information regarding the patient's status, which is often distressing for both the patient and their family. BBN is a collaborative endeavour including doctors and nurses. Patients frequently anticipate nurses to provide a reiteration of information previously conveyed by doctors. The phenomena are the lack of specialized training for nurses in Breaking Bad News (BBN), resulting in families frequently requesting nurses to provide further explanations on their health and treatment plan. The objective of this study was to investigate the firsthand encounter of nurses in BBN (Breaking Bad News). The approach employed qualitative phenomenology. 10 individuals were interviewed using semi-structured interviews to collect data. The Colaizzi Technique was employed for the analysis. Outcome: The study yielded four distinct themes: the collaborative efforts of nurses and doctors in BBN through therapeutic communication, the challenges faced by nurses when families lack understanding, the provision of BBN by nurses based on their professional experience, and the positive aspects observed by nurses in families. The study's findings revealed that nurses often face situations when they were required to Break Bad News (BBN), while lacking formal training in this domain. Nurses and doctors should undergo training in BBN (Breaking Bad News) to ensure they are sufficiently prepared to deliver such news to patients.BAHASA INDONESIA Dalam keperawatan paliatif, Breaking Bad News (BBN) memberikan informasi tentang kondisi pasien yang sebenarnya, yang sering kali merupakan berita buruk bagi pasien dan keluarganya.
