Abstract

The significant increase of millennial tourist trips makes the Indonesian tourism sector consider it as a market opportunity. Consequently, stakeholders must adjust their development policies with the characteristics of the millennial tourist market, including marketing and advertising domains. As a Stakeholder, Destination Management Organization (DMO) needs to change the way they advertise, including determining the content that fits millennial preferences. Through a descriptive qualitative approach, this paper combines millennial characteristics with their travel habits, to form content that is friendly to millennial tourists. The results of this study showed that advertisement content should be; focus on experience over tourism destination; is presented simple and organic; use the price approach; take advantage of eWoM's reputation; focus on social impacts in local life.

Abstract

When traveling soon, Indonesia faces travel anxiety after experiencing travel restrictions during a pandemic. This study is dedicated to identifying how strong the level of anxiety is and the tactical steps Indonesian tourism policymakers can take. Through a quantitative approach, it was found that there were differences in the application of the theory of anxiety levels initiated by Peplau. However, through adjustments and theoretical extensions to the pandemic situation, this study identifies the readiness of the Indonesians by looking at their feelings of anxiety, which are primarily low and medium. As a result, Indonesians with mid-education levels, low incomes, and living in areas with low tourist movement tend to have low anxiety levels. Meanwhile, the best way to deal with Indonesian people who feel excessive anxiety is to direct them to natural attractions with appropriate amenities that can be reached by private vehicles in short trip durations.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic remains, and its impact continues to collapse on Indonesian tourism, particularly the hotel industry. During the pandemic, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy implemented a program of issuing CHSE certificates to the hotels in order to restore their performance. However, no market-based analysis has determined the impact of the hotel's CHSE certification. This research measures how the CHSE certification can increase Indonesian tourists' loyalty to hotels during a pandemic. The structural equation model (SEM) found a significant positive influence on Indonesian tourists' loyalty from 564 respondents. Variables such as perceived quality, image, trust, perceived value, and satisfaction significantly influenced Indonesian tourist loyalty toward CHSE-certified hotels during the pandemic, both directly and indirectly. The NFI score of 0.907 indicates that the model constructed in this study is highly sufficient to describe the loyalty of CHSE-certified hotel visitors during the pandemic.

Abstract

Dark tourism, encapsulating themes of death, crime, violence, and suffering within a tourism framework, has sparked controversy and ethical concerns. Nevertheless, it remains a compelling subject of research. This study employs the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) protocol to provide a systematic overview of the trends in dark tourism research disseminated across reputable Scopus scientific journals over the last decade. The findings present a comprehensive snapshot of the evolving landscape of dark tourism research, identifying key variables that signify the expansive realms open for exploration within this domain.
