Abstract

Candida albicans is one of the most pathogenic species and often causes vaginitis in women with the main symptom of vaginal discharge. As many as 75% of women in Indonesia have experienced vaginal discharge at least once in their life and half of them have experienced vaginal discharge twice or more. This study aims to calculate the percentage of Candida albicanss in the urine of adolescents at the Putri Orphanage in Banjarmasin. This type of research is quantitative and descriptive with a cross-sectional design. The research sample was 21 urine sample teenagers at the Orphanage in Banjarmasin. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Laboratory examinations included macroscopic observations of Candida colonies growing on Sabouraud Dextrose Agar (SDA) media, and microscopic observations using the Germ Tube test to distinguish Candida albicanss species from Candida non-albicanss. And by filling out a questionnaire to determine the level of knowledge about vaginal discharge and personal hygiene. The results showed 33% of respondents were positive for Candida albicanss. Based on the results, overview Candida albicans in adolescents at the Putri Asri Orphanage in Banjarmasin, it can be concluded that there are 7 samples (33%) positive for Candida albicans. Personal hygiene and environmental sanitation can affect the growth of Candida albicans which can cause vaginal discharge in adolescent girls.

Abstract

Abstract

Eradicating the larvae is one of the vector controls for Aedes aegypti. One alternative way to eradicate the larvae is by using vegetable insecticides (WHO, 1997 in Basri and Farasda, 2019). This study aims to determine the effectiveness of trembesi leaf extract (Samanea saman) as a larvicide on Aedes aegypti larvae. This study used an experimental design in the laboratory with trembesi leaves which were extracted using the maceration method for 4 days (96 hours) using a 96% ethanol solvent. The extract concentrations used were 0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, 5% and 10%. Each treatment contained 20 Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae and was observed every 24 hours and 48 hours. Based on the results of the exploratory test on the effectiveness of trembesi leaves (Samanea saman) against Aedes aegypti larvae with concentrations of 0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, 5%, and 10% which were observed for 24 hours and 48 hours, the results showed that the extract trembesi leaves (Samanea saman) with concentrations of 5% and 10% could kill all larvae populations within 24 hours, while concentrations of 0.5% and 0.1% could kill all larvae within 48 hours. Effectiveness of Trembesi Leaf Extract (Samanea saman) which affects the concentration factor with the most effective concentration at a concentration of 5% which can kill 100% of Aedes aegypti larvae within 24 hours.

Abstract

Hepatitis B constitutes a transmissible ailment that principally affects the liver, inducing acute and enduring conditions, specifically liver cirrhosis. This chronic hepatic disorder instigates a widespread mechanism involving nodule development and fibrosis within the liver structure. One of the markers of liver damage is an increase in aminotransferase enzyme levels and bilirubin levels. The aim of this inquiry was to quantify the percentage of AST, ALT enzyme levels and Bilirubin levels regarding patients with Hepatitis B Virus Infection at Dr. H. Moch. Ansari Saleh Hospital, Banjarmasin. The analytical framework employed a cross-sectional method utilizing medical records and datasets from the Clinical Pathology Laboratory at Dr. H. Moch. Ansari Saleh Hospital, Banjarmasin. Observations demonstrated a substantial rise in AST, ALT, and Bilirubin. The highest age group for AST, ALT, and bilirubin examination was 41-60 years old with 26 patients (60%) and the lowest age group was 61-70 years old with 6 patients (14%). Within the group of patients exhibiting liver cirrhosis attributed to Hepatitis B virus infection, AST, ALT, and bilirubin levels escalated significantly among males (67%) and females (33%). Derived from the study outcomes, it is concluded that the rise in AST, ALT, and bilirubin enzyme levels showed a marked increase in the 41-50 year age range, namely 26 patients (60%) and 43 patients (67%) of male gender.
