Abstract

Udara merupakan salah satu unsur penting bagi kehidupan sehingga kualitas dan komponen yang terkandung didalamnya harus dikontrol, mengingat udara merupakan salah satu media penyebaran bakteri patogen. Kualitas udara yang baik sangat dibutuhkan oleh pasien di rumah sakit, tetapi faktanya banyak ditemukan bakteri patogen penyebab infeksi nosokomial di ruang rawat inap. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik morfologi bakteri udara pada ruang rawat inap yang mampu tumbuh pada medium selektif Mannitol Salt Agar (MSA). Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode observasional dengan rancangan cross sectional. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada 6 ruang rawat inap yang berbeda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa medium selektif MSA ternyata tidak hanya ditumbuhi oleh bakteri dari genus Staphylococcus saja, tetapi dapat pula ditumbuhi oleh beberapa jenis bakteri lainnya dengan karakter morfologi sel yang berbeda yaitu bakteri kokus Gram (+), kokus Gram (-) dan batang Gram (-) dengan bakteri yang dominan adalah bakteri kokus Gram (+). Bakteri tersebut diduga merupakan bakteri Planococcus halophilus dan Enterobacter sp yang memiliki kemampuan untuk memanfaatkan atau tidak kandungan manitol dan juga kemampuannya untuk hidup pada lingkungan dengan kadar garam (NaCl) tinggi (> 7,5%), dimana tekanan osmosisnya relatif tinggi. Kesimpulan yang dapat diambil dari penelitian ini adalah, bakteri udara di ruang rawat inap yang mampu tumbuh di medium MSA tidak hanya bakteri Staphylococcus (kokus Gram (+) saja, tetapi juga dapat ditumbuhi oleh bakteri kokus Gram (-) dan batang Gram (-).

Abstract

The bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, a normal component of human flora, is easily mutated and antibiotic-resistant, leading to the creation of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This bacterium is a difficult-to-control nosocomial infection in healthcare settings, so it must be stored using specialized preservation agents, like DMSO, to investigate the nature and characteristics of these bacteria for prevention, control, and therapy. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the survival of MRSA bacteria that had been kept in a DMSO solution at various temperatures and periods. This study was carried out between July and October2022 using a one-shot study case research design, data analysis, and quantitative descriptive analysis. According to the findings, MRSA bacteria held in 15% DMSO solution lost viability over time and at various storage temperatures. Among various bacterial species held at various storage temperatures, MRSA bacteria had the lowest colony loss rate (-20 °C). Based on the findings of this study, it can be said that the preservation of MRSA bacteria at freezing temperature (-20 °C) and storage length of one month resulted in the greatest survivability of the bacteria when stored in 15% DMSO solution.

Abstract

Maternal nutritional status is monitored with BMI and is also one of the factors that have an impact during pregnancy. Poor nutrition before and during pregnancy leads to decreasing hemoglobin levels and low birth weight infants. This study aims to determine the correlation between hemoglobin levels and BMI of mothers giving birth to the weight of newborns at the Puskesmas Kebumen II, Kebumen District. This research used a retrospective study with medical record data collected from January to April 2022. This research involved 50 patient mothers giving birth at Puskesmas Kebumen II, Kebumen District. The data were analyzed by the Pearson correlation coefficient test. The results are BMI and newborn weight (p = 0.061, r = 0.367), hemoglobin levels, and newborn weight (p=0.852; r= -0.025). There was no correlation between BMI and hemoglobin levels to newborn weight at Puskemas Kebumen II, Kebumen District.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the association between hygiene level and the incidence of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infection in diabetic ulcers. An analytical observational study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted. The study included 20 patients with diabetic ulcers at RSUD Prof. Dr. Margono Soekarjo Purwokerto, selected using an accidental sampling technique. Bacterial identification was performed through culture on Mannitol Salt Agar (MSA), Gram staining, biochemical tests, and antibiotic susceptibility testing using the disk diffusion method. MRSA identification was determined based on cefoxitin susceptibility testing. Hygiene levels were assessed using an observation checklist developed based on wound care principles and WHO guidelines. Data were analyzed using Fisher’s Exact test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Among the 20 patients with diabetic ulcers, MRSA infection was identified in 17 patients (85%), while 3 patients (15%) were not infected with MRSA. In the group with good hygiene practices, 2 patients (10%) were infected with MRSA and 3 patients (15%) were not infected, whereas among patients with poor hygiene practices, 15 patients (75%) were infected with MRSA. Statistical analysis revealed a significant association between hygiene level and MRSA infection incidence (p = 0.009). These findings indicate that hygiene practices in diabetic ulcer care are associated with the occurrence of MRSA infection among patients with diabetic ulcers.
