Abstract

This study deals with the effect of Idiomatic Translation Method in students’ translating descriptive text. The objective of the study is to find out whether Idiomatic translation method affects students’ ability in Translate descriptive text. In carrying out this study, the writer took 40 of 2012 academic year students of English department of HKBP NOMMENSEN UNIVERSITY MEDAN and two classes taken as the sample of her study. They were divided into two groups.The first group (20 students) Group C was experimental group, who was taught by using Idiomatic Translation Method on students’ translate descriptive text while the second group (20 students) Group D was the control group, the descriptive text was taught by using Literal Translation Method. The instrument of the test was written test. Those were pre-test and post-test. The scores of the test were taken to be the data and calculated using t-test formula. The result of computing the t-test show that t-observe is bigger than t-table (1.338 <1.685) at the level of 0.05 with the degree of freedom (df) 38, It means that the value of the observed was bigger than value of t-table. It means that the hypothesis “Idiomatic Translation Methodno significantly effect on students’ translating Descriptive text” is Rejected.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya motivasi belajar matematika dan bahasa inggris anak-anak usia sekolah dasar di Sekolah SD Negeri 024868 Binjai Barat. Siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam pembelajaran mata pelajaran matematika dan bahasa inggris. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kegiatan pembinaan pembelajaran matematika dan bahasa inggris bagi anak-anak usia sekolah dasar di Sekolah SD Negeri 024868. Pembinaan pembelajaran matematika dan bahasa inggris bagi anak-anak usia sekolah dasar di SD Negeri 024868 berisi yang sifatnya memberikan bantuan, nasihat, dorongan dan kesempatan bagi anak anak untuk termotivasi dalam belajar. Tahapan kegiatan pembinaan yang dilakukan yaitu: 1) Tahap Persiapan, 2) Tahap Pelaksanaan Pembinaan. Metode kegiatan pembinaan yang dilaksanakan yaitu: 1) Metode ceramah, 2) Metode tanya jawab, 3) Metode latihan atau praktik. Berdasarkan hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian disimpulkan bahwa: 1) Meningkatnya motivasi belajar siswa, 2) Meningkatnya kemampuan siswa dalam mencari hasil suatu perkalian matematika, 3) Meningkatnya kemampuan siswa dalam menyusun kalimat bahasa inggris.Mitra pengabdian ini adalah SD Negeri 024868 Binjai Barat.

Abstract

The tiktok application has a big impact on the development of children's character, it is not uncommon for this application to have a negative impact on children, for example they often dance alone without being controlled. The period of child development that is very sensitive is at the age of 5-12 years, as in early childhood, so it is often called the golden age (Titik Mukarromah, 2019). At this time all aspects of intelligence development, namely intellectual, emotional, and spiritual intelligence experienced extraordinary developments that would influence and determine further developments (Muhibbin Syah, 2003). When a child is at the golden age, all information will be absorbed quickly. They become reliable imitators, they are smarter, smarter than they look and will form the basis for the formation of their character, personality and cognitive abilities. So you shouldn't underestimate children at that age.

Abstract

Abstract : Developing English  Learning Module in State Elementary  School 056005 Langkat  Regency.  The purpose of this research is to develop learning modules for sudents grade V. This research is categorized into the type of research development (research and devolepment) by using Borg and Gall teaching material development model. Development research is oriented towards product development where the development process is described as thoroughly as possible and the product is finally evaluated. This research was conducted at SDN 056005Gohor Lama Grade V. Subjects in this study are the students of grade V of SDN 056005 Gohor Lama (Experiment) amounted to 20 students and garde V of SDN 050701 Hinai amounted 25 students (Comparator). The results of this study are developed teaching materials have met the Valid criteria. It can be seen from the results of validation of teaching materials conducted by the three validators declared social science materials of social skills based developed by researchers quite well, this is based on the assessment of the three validators for the design aspect the average the Mater aspect in stage I the average score is 60% and proceed to stage II the average score is 80%, and the last for the language aspect in phase I the average score is 40% then proceed to stage II with the average score is 84%. Teaching materials developed have met the practical criteria seen from teacher questionnaire results which reached 92% percentage. The use of learning materials based on social skills can improve student learning outcomes, the results obtained if you see the results of pre-test and postes where the class Experiment completeness of students reached 45% then at posttest increased to 70%. The result of pretest in comparison class student reach 54% then at the time of postes mask student reach 80%. Keywords : English  Learning Module, , Elementary School Abstrak : Pengembangan Modul Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di Sekolah Dasar Kabupaten Langkat tahun ajaran 2019/2020. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan modul pembelajaran untuk siswa kelas V. Penelitian ini dikategorikan ke dalam jenis pengembangan penelitian (penelitian dan pengembangan) dengan menggunakan model pengembangan bahan ajar Borg and Gall. Penelitian pengembangan berorientasi pada pengembangan produk di mana proses pengembangan digambarkan selengkap mungkin dan produk akhirnya dievaluasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SDN 056005 Old Gohor Kelas V. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas V SDN 056005 Old Gohor (Eksperimen) berjumlah 20 siswa dan garde V SDN 050701 Hinai berjumlah 25 siswa (Pembanding). Hasil penelitian ini adalah bahan ajar yang dikembangkan yang telah memenuhi kriteria Valid. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari hasil validasi bahan ajar yang dilakukan oleh ketiga validator yang mendeklarasikan materi ilmu sosial berdasarkan keterampilan sosial yang dikembangkan oleh peneliti dengan cukup baik, hal ini didasarkan pada penilaian ketiga validator untuk aspek desain rata-rata aspek Mater pada tahap I skor rata-rata adalah 60% dan melanjutkan ke tahap II skor rata-rata adalah 80%, dan yang terakhir untuk aspek bahasa pada fase I skor rata-rata adalah 40% kemudian melanjutkan ke tahap II dengan skor rata-rata adalah 84%. Bahan ajar yang dikembangkan telah memenuhi kriteria praktis dilihat dari hasil angket guru yang mencapai persentase 92%. Penggunaan materi pembelajaran berdasarkan keterampilan sosial dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, hasilnya diperoleh jika Anda melihat hasil pre-test dan posttest dimana kelas Eksperimen siswa mencapai 45% kemudian pada posttest meningkat menjadi 70%. Hasil pretest pada siswa kelas perbandingan mencapai 54% kemudian pada saat posttest siswa topeng mencapai 80%.Kata Kunci : Modul Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris,  Sekolah Dasar

Abstract

Abstract: This  study  aims  to  determine  the  effectiveness  of  the  use  of  contextual  teaching learning models on student achievement in English subjects at SMP Swasta Parsaoran Kecamatan Parbuluan,  as  well  as  to  determine  differences  in  student  learning achievement in the control class and experimental class. The method used  in this study  is  an  experimental  research  method  whose  implementation  uses  a  quasi-experimental   type   with   a   nonequivalent   control   group   design.   The   study population consisted of 69 students who were divided into 2 classes, namely class III-A totaling 36 students and class III-B totaling 33 students.  In its implementation the class III-A became the experimental class while the class III-B became the control class.  Data collection in the form of learning test results conducted before and after the learning process (pretest and posttest). The process of teaching and learning activities of the experimental class is carried out using  the  CTL  learning  model  while  the  control  class  uses the  lecture  learning strategy (conventional) in English learning.Keywords: CTL, Learning Achievement, Learning ModelAbstrak: Penelitian  ini  bertujuan  untuk  mengetahui  efektivitas  penggunaan  model pembelajaran contextual  teaching  learning terhadap  prestasi  belajar  siswa pada mata  pelajaran  bahasa  inggris  di SMP Swasta Parsaoran Kecamatan Parbuluan, sekaligus  untuk  mengetahui  perbedaan  prestasi  belajar  siswa pada kelas  kontrol  dan  kelas eksperimen. Metode yang digunakan  dalam penelitian    ini    merupakan metode penelitian experiment yang pelaksanaannya   menggunakan   jenis quasi   experiment dengan   desain nonequivalent  control  group  design.  Populasi  penelitian  terdiri  dari  69 siswa  yang  terbagi  menjadi  2  kelas,  yaitu  kelas  III-A  berjumlah  36 siswa    dan    kelas III-B    berjumlah    33    siswa.    Dalam pelaksanaannya kelas III-A menjadi kelas eksperimen sedangkan kelas III-B   menjadi   kelas   kontrol.   Pengumpulan   data   berupa   hasil   tes  belajar yang dilaksanakan    sebelum  dan  setelah  proses  pembelajaran  (pretest dan posttest).  Proses  kegiatan  belajar  mengajar  kelas  eksperimen  dilakukan dengan  menggunakan  model  pembelajaran CTL sedangkan  kelas  kontrol dengan  menggunakan  strategi  pembelajaran  ceramah (konvensional) pada pembelajaran bahasa inggris.Kata Kunci :CTL,Prestasi Belajar, Model

Abstract

Training on developing multimedia learning media using the Kinemaster, YouTube and Toontastic programs aims to provide skills in creating multimedia learning media in the form of interesting videos in a relatively easy way. The methods used are the Presentation Method regarding the introduction of software, the Demonstration Method and the Practical Method. The evaluation method is by observing the differences in teacher abilities before and after training. From the results achieved, it can be seen that there has been a significant increase in abilities compared to before training, so it can be concluded that this activity was successful in improving the participants' abilities. At the end of the activity the implementer of the community service program will capture data on the program's meaningfulness to the participants. It is hoped that this training program will continue to be held because it is very beneficial for improving the quality of learning, especially in this era.
