Abstract

The population growth rate of an area is influenced by several factors including fertility, mortality and migration. Meanwhile, population counts are usually carried out through a population census which is carried out every 10 years. As a metropolitan area, every year North Sumatra experiences a very rapid population growth rate. The population growth rate can be modelled with a stochastic model. In stochastic modelling refers to the percentage calculations for fertility, mortality and migration in predicting for the next census year period. Meanwhile, to calculate the population, you can use numerical methods, namely, forward newton Gregory polynomial and reverse newton Gregory polynomial. The method used in this study is a literature study where the data source used is secondary data and in this case, the researcher analyzes between three census periods, namely the period 1980 to 2010 and then predicts the period of the next census year. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the three models in predicting the population of North Sumatra in the census period. For stochastic modelling, the prediction results obtained for the year 2010 are the percentage of total birth rate or fertility reaching ± 17.67%, the mortality reaches ± 39.61% and the migration reaches ± 42.72%. For 2020, the probability that the percentage of total birth or fertility is ± 16.83%, the mortality is ± 33.85% and the migration is ± 49.36% and for 2030 the probability of the percentage of total birth or fertility is ± 16.98%. the mortality reached ± 34.28% and the migration reached ± 48.74%. And for the forward newton Gregory polynomial method and the reverse Gregory newton polynomial, the total relative error is obtained respectively while for the reverse newton Gregory polynomial method the total error value is. Referring to the error value, the advanced Newton Gregory polynomial method has better accuracy.

Abstract

With this era of increasingly developing technology, learning programs are directed to be able to make better use of technology. One of the current uses of technology is e-Learning using the web to access it. There is no denying that many students now have smart phones, so it is easier to access them from wherever they are and at any time. Utilization of e-learning that is commonly developed today is using LMS (Learning Management System). Quality Berastagi University is one of the universities that have utilized e-Learning as a learning medium this semester. Learning activities using e-learning media on campus utilize the E-Learing application. In the learning process, students are given assignments by the lecturer and send the results of their reports via E-Learning. In addition, students are also given additional material in order to understand more broadly the material that may not be conveyed directly when face to face in class. E-learning is an alternative media to provide test exam questions and improvised media that do not always use print media. Based on the above phenomenon, it can be said that in the learning process, a method, strategy, media, or learning model is needed that can train students' abilities in improving learning outcomes, involving student activities optimally, and making mathematics learning more meaningful and fun. Lecturers are required to choose learning media that can stimulate the enthusiasm of each student to be actively involved in their learning experience. This study aims to determine student learning activities increase with E-Learning learning media in the PGSD Study Program, Quality Berastagi University.

Abstract

Pengabdian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya motivasi belajar matematika dan bahasa inggris anak-anak usia sekolah dasar di Sekolah SD Negeri 024868 Binjai Barat. Siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam pembelajaran mata pelajaran matematika dan bahasa inggris. Pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran kegiatan pembinaan pembelajaran matematika dan bahasa inggris bagi anak-anak usia sekolah dasar di Sekolah SD Negeri 024868. Pembinaan pembelajaran matematika dan bahasa inggris bagi anak-anak usia sekolah dasar di SD Negeri 024868 berisi yang sifatnya memberikan bantuan, nasihat, dorongan dan kesempatan bagi anak anak untuk termotivasi dalam belajar. Tahapan kegiatan pembinaan yang dilakukan yaitu: 1) Tahap Persiapan, 2) Tahap Pelaksanaan Pembinaan. Metode kegiatan pembinaan yang dilaksanakan yaitu: 1) Metode ceramah, 2) Metode tanya jawab, 3) Metode latihan atau praktik. Berdasarkan hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian disimpulkan bahwa: 1) Meningkatnya motivasi belajar siswa, 2) Meningkatnya kemampuan siswa dalam mencari hasil suatu perkalian matematika, 3) Meningkatnya kemampuan siswa dalam menyusun kalimat bahasa inggris.Mitra pengabdian ini adalah SD Negeri 024868 Binjai Barat.

Abstract

Mathematical communication ability is a very important cognitive ability to be measured in mathematics. This ability is in fact still relatively low. Students still have difficulty when working on story problems so as to improve communication skills using concept map-based mathematics learning. There are various factors that cause students' success in learning mathematics, one of which is the most basic, namely the way educators deliver learning material, how to deliver material that is considered inappropriate so that it has an impact on students' mathematics learning outcomes. Learning mathematics with lectures until now still dominates, so that students do not play an active role in learning. students tend to be bored and bored during learning because when educators enter class, they immediately encourage students to follow the learning path delivered by the teacher. Educators without prior to introducing mathematical concepts to be studied, students become confused and less interested in participating in teaching and learning activities. The basic solution offered from these problems is that educators are required to be able to create a creative learning model that can help students understand each material. One learning model that involves the creativity of students so that they can create ideas from each learning material so that it is expected to improve mathematics learning outcomes is a concept map-based learning model. Learning by applying concept maps, students become more motivated in learning, do not feel bored, and student activities are increasing, namely students are able to communicate what they find and can solve problems well.

Abstract

Interest in learning and lack of motivation are the main problems faced by students at SD Negeri 054870 Tanjung Jati. It can be seen that children at this school have a lack of awareness of educational matters, therefore the importance of tutoring will motivate students to be aware of the importance of education for the future. So that the lecturers and students of Quality Berastagi University aim to hold tutoring activities to increase the learning interest of elementary school students at public elementary school 054870 tanjung jati. This service focuses on grade 4 students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. Based on the results of the service implementation, this tutoring activity has a significant impact such as increasing understanding, growing awareness in learning, children are more active in discussing and asking about material that is not understood

Abstract

Abstract. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of understanding of Elementary School Teacher Education Students as prospective teachers regarding the use of Dakota visual aids in learning mathematics. This research was conducted in the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program, University of Quality, Berastagi, with a population and sample of 28 students in Semester 1 of the 2022/2023 Academic Year. The type of research used is classroom action research. Based on the research conducted, PGSD students have various levels of understanding about the use of the Dakota visual aid in teaching the smallest common multiple and the largest common factor. The difference in the level of understanding is caused by differences in students' cognitive abilities. The evaluation results show that the percentage of students' understanding of the five material components assessed is as follows: regarding the teaching of multiples material, 53.57% of students have an understanding in the high category and 46.43% in the medium category. For teaching factors there are 50% of students with understanding in the high category and the other 50% are in the medium category. For fellowship teaching there are 57.14% of students with understanding in the high category. 28.57% of students are in the medium category and 14.29% of students with low understanding. For KPK teaching, there were 89.29% of students with an understanding in the high category and another 10.71% in the medium category. For FPB teaching, there are 71.43% of students with an understanding in the high category, 17.86% of students with moderate understanding, and another 10.71% with a low category.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Development Of Problem Based Learning Models In Improving Student Learning Results Of Berastagi University Of Mathematics.  In the learning at school, mathematics is one of the subjects which is a basic lesson and a means of scientific thinking which is indispensable for students to develop their logical abilities. Mathematics education in schools aims to prepare students who can use mathematics functionally to solve problems, both in everyday life and facing other sciences. Mathematical problems faced are structured, systematic and logical so that students can implement them. Until now, in the world of education, especially in mathematics education, children still emphasize memorizing without knowing the basic concepts, so we need a learning model to improve student mathematics learning outcomes. This research was conducted for six months. First, the research makes preparations related to research such as making initial test questions. Then choose a class to do the development of the learning model by conducting a preliminary test on campus to determine student obstacles in solving questions. To obtain data, the authors distributed pre-test questions to selected students to apply the new learning model later. Processing data and comparing student result oflLearning after the development of problem-based learning models and previous ones. The conclusions from student result of learning obtained from result of learning tests after the development of problem-based learning models during teaching. The results of this study are expected that the campus can improve student mathematics Result of Learning. Keywords : Result of Learning, problem-based learning model, PGSD studentsABSTRAK : Pengembangan Model Pembelajaran Berbasis masalah Dalam Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Mahasiswa Matematika Universitas Quality Berastagi. Dalam pembelajaran di sekolah, matematika merupakan salah satu pelajaran yang merupakan pelajaran dasar dan sarana berpikir ilmiah yang sangat diperlukan oleh mahasiswa untuk mengembangkan kemampuan logisnya. Pendidikan matematika di sekolah bertujuan untuk mempersiapkan peserta didik yang dapat menggunakan matematika secara fungsional untuk memecahkan masalah, baik dalam kehidupan sehari-hari maupun menghadapi ilmu pengetahuan lain. Masalah matematika yang dihadapi terstruktur, sistematis dan logis sehingga dapat diimplementasikan mahasiswa. Sampai sekarang dalam dunia pendidikan khususnya dalam pendidikan matematika masih lebih menekankan anak untuk menghapal tanpa mengetahui konsep dasarnya, sehingga diperlukan suatu model pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar matematika mahasiswa. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama enam bulan. Pertama Penelitian melakukan persiapan-persiapan yang berhubungan dengan penelitian seperti pembuatan soal tes awal. Kemudian memilih kelas untuk dilakukan pengembangan model pembelajaran dengan melakukan tes awal ke kampus untuk menentukan kendala mahasiswa dalam penyelesaian soal. Untuk memperoleh data, penulis membagikan soal tes awal kepada mahasiswa yang dipilih untuk diterapkan model pembelajaran baru nantinya. Mengolah data serta menbandingkan hasil belajar mahasiswa setelah dilakukan pengembangan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan sebelumnya. Mengambil kesimpulan dari hasil belajar siswa yg diperoleh dari tes hasil belajar setelah dikembangkannya model pembelajaran berbasis masalah pada saat pengajaran. Abstract

Matematika sebagai salah satu ilmu dasar, dewasa ini telah berkembang pesat baik materi maupun kegunaannya. Matematika melambangkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah dengan menggambarkan bilangan-bilangan dan simbol-simbol serta ketajaman penalaran yang dapat memberi kejelasan dan menyelesaikan permasalahan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Salah satu tujuan pembelajaran matematika mengharapkan siswa memiliki kemampuan pemahaman matematika yang baik sehingga siswa mampu untuk mengaplikasikan konsep-konsep yang telah dipahaminya. Pemahaman konsep ini sangat penting karena akan sangat berguna untuk penguasaan materi pada saat proses pembelajaran berlangsung. Berdasarkan hasil observasi yang peneliti lakukan terhadap proses pembelajaran matematika di universitas quality, menunjukkan bahwa proses pembelajaran matematika masih cenderung berpusat kepada dosen. Saat pembelajaran berlangsung dosen aktif memberikan penjelasan didepan kelas sedangkan siswa hanya mendengarkan, mencatat, dan mengerjakan latihan soal. Dalam pembelajaran matematika yang berlangsung bahan ajar yang dibebankan kepada dosen untuk disampaikan kepada siswa sangat banyak. Dosen cenderung memilih metode pembelajaran yang lebih menekankan bagaimana menyelesaikan beban kurikulum tepat waktu dari pada menerapkan metode pembelajaran yang mengajak siswanya untuk mengembangkan kemampuan diri dalam pembelajaran, Akibatnya adanya kesulitan dalam kemampuan pemecahan masalah dan pemahaman konsep matematis mahasiwa yang diajarkan dosen.

Abstract

Belajar seharusnya tidak menjadi beban bagi manusia, karena manusia dari lahir sampai akhir hidupnya mesti harus belajar. Tetapi masih banyak anak yang tidak suka belajar, dapat dikatakan minat belajarnya kurang khususnya dalam pelajaran matematika.  Matematika adalah bagian dari ilmu pengetahuan dan penting dalam kehidupan dan peningkatan ilmu pengetahuan, informasi,dan inovasi. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di MIS Al-Ittihadiyah Berastagi pada semester Genap tahun Ajaran 2023-2024. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini menggunakan metode pelatihan. Kegiatan pembelajaran berbasis permainan Dakota di ikuti 23 siswa kelas IV. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah menjelaskan penggunaan media pembelajaran Dakota (Dakon Matematika) untuk menarik minat belajar siswa dan mrnghadirkan matematika yang menyenangkan khususnya pada materi KPK (Kelipatan Persekutuan Terkecil) dan FPB (Faktor Persekutuan Terbesar). Terdapat tiga tahapan yang dilakukan yaitu tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi.  Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini telah memberikan hal positif bagi peserta pengabdian yaitu siswa kelas IV Ms Al-ittihadiyah Berastagi Kabupaten Karo seperti peserta mampu membuat dan menggunakan alat peraga dalam pembelajaran matematika untuk materi KPK dan FPB. Seluruh peserta pengabdian sangat antusias dalam kegiatan ini dilihat dari kerja tim yang kompak, diskusi yang baik dan semangat dalam pembuatan dan penggunaan alat peraga Dakota yang menyenangkan dan tidak membosankan

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar pendidikan telah menjadi tren global. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana penggunaan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar pembelajaran matematika berdampak pada siswa dan guru di SDN 173529 Tampahan. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa guru di SDN 173529 Tampahan menggunakan bahasa Inggris saat mengajar matematika. Selama pembelajaran di kelas, guru di SDN 173529 Tampahan berusaha membuat siswa terlibat secara aktif dalam menjawab atau memberikan pertanyaan dalam bahasa Inggris.  Dengan menggunakan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pengantar dalam pembelajaran matematika, siswa merasa mudah dalam mengerjakan soal ujian dalam bahasa inggris dan mendapatkan nilai yang maksimal.
