Abstract

One of the strategies to improve the mothers' well-being of mothers and new-borns is optimizing the first 1000 days after birth starting from preparation for pregnancy. By optimizing pregnancy preparation, mothers are expected to have a healthy pregnancy which will affect the outcome of their pregnancy. The community service aimed to educate the public, including health care staff in Indonesia as main providers of maternal health in order to assist mothers and their partners in preparing for their pregnancy. The output of this community service is the knowledge transfer about pregnancy preparation and pregnancy period in order to optimize the First 1000 Days. The results showed that the majority of participants consisted of midwives, indicating that midwives were still enthusiastic about enhancing their knowledge regarding pregnancy. The evaluation showed that the majority of participants were satisfied with the topic provided. Similar community service is recommended to be implemented in a small scale of community group in order to have an intensive education.

Abstract

The postpartum period is a crucial period that is prone to physical and psychological complications. Delay in recognizing danger signs and low support from family and the surrounding environment are risk factors for morbidity and mortality in postpartum women. This study aims to develop and test the effectiveness of the Post Natal Care application in increasing the knowledge and support of cadres for postpartum women. The research method used was one group pre-post test, with 68 respondents from cadres in Pagentan Village, Singosari District, Malang Regency. Data were collected through pretest and posttest questionnaire instruments, and analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge (p=0.000) and support (p=0.000) after using the application. The application was considered attractive, easy to use, informative, and useful by the majority of respondents. In conclusion, the Post Natal Care application is effective as a digital education media to improve the quality of assistance to postpartum women.
