Abstract

Soursop leaves (Annona muricata L.) contain flavonoid compounds. Flavonoid compounds act as diabetes drugs. This study aimed to determine the effect of soursop leaf ethanol extract on alloxan-induced hypoglycemia in white male rats. In this study, four treatment groups were used, namely. negative control received no treatment, positive control received treatment with metformin 9 mg, the first treatment 7.2 mg and the last group was treated with a second dose of 14.4 mg. Rats were satisfied first before being treated, then measured blood sugar levels were. Rats were induced with alloxan intraperitoneally (IP), then observed the development of their blood sugar levels for three days, and their blood sugar levels were checked once a day. For seven days, then given ethanol extract of Soursop leaves daily for five days. The results showed that soursop leaf ethanol extract could reduce blood glucose on days H4-H8, which decreased by 6.67 mg / mL in the treatment group 1 sample and 5.66 mg / mL in the treatment sample.2. The test results with the Kruskal-Wallis test at the level of 0.05 showed that there was no significant difference between the use of soursop leaf ethanol extract and metformin against blood sugar reduction.

Abstract

The elderly experience a decrease in function, especially in the function of blood circulation. Blood circulation diseases and hormonal metabolism disorders experienced by the elderly include hypercholesterolemia. Hypercholesterolemia is a disorder of fat metabolism that triggers an increase in total blood cholesterol levels, namely> 200 mg/dl. The study aimed to determine the effectiveness of A. muricata leaf extract in decreasing total cholesterol levels in the elderly with hypercholesterolemia. Quantitative research method, using a quasi-experimental type with a group pretest-posttest design, with a sample size of 20 elderly. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, was carried out for a week consuming three times a day. The paired t-test showed a value of 8.73 and a p-value of 0.001. This study's results indicated a significant difference between the average cholesterol levels in the pre-test and post-test administration of Annona Muricata leaf extract. Compounds contained in soursop leaves, namely flavonoids, by reducing the activity of HMG-koa reductase (enzyme β-Hydroxy β-methylglutaryl-CoA) can reduce the activity of ACAT (enzyme acyl-Coa cholesterol acyltransferase), and reduce the absorption activity of cholesterol in the liver. Digestive tract. Saponin compounds in soursop leave lower cholesterol by binding to cholesterol in the intestinal lumen, thereby preventing the reabsorption of cholesterol. Saponins can bind with bile acids, which in turn will reduce the enterohepatic circulation of bile acids and cause an increase in the process of excretion of cholesterol.

Abstract

Malaria is one of the health problems for the world's population in tropical and subtropical regions. Malaria infection is caused by the protozoa Plasmodium spp. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of A. indica Leaf extract against TGF-β levels in Swiss mice inoculated with Plasmodium berghei ANKA (PbA). This study used true experimental with a post-test design only control group design which used Swiss mice subjects weighing 30-35 grams as much as 24 heads and divided into four groups (K, T1, T2, T3); all groups were inoculated PbA. Group T1 (A. indica leaf extract therapy at a dose of 0.25 mg/grBB), Group T2 (A. indica leaf extract therapy at a dose of 0.5 mg/grBB), Group T3 (A. indica leaf extract therapy at a dose of 1 mg/grBB). Data analysis using the Anova + posthoc test with a significance value of p < 0.05 and CI of 95%. The results showed differences in TGF-β levels, both in the control and treatment groups after treatment, with a p-value of < 0.05. Greater increases in TGF-β levels occurred in the T3 group (average +38.46 pg/ml) compared to group K (average +14.37 pg/ml), group T1 (average +14.37 pg/ml), and group T2 (average +22.13 pg/ml)

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji efektivitas antioksidan dari tanaman Genjer (Limnocharis flava), dengan fokus pada bagian batang, daun, dan bunga. Dalam menghadapi kerusakan yang ditimbulkan oleh radikal bebas, yang berasal dari faktor internal seperti reaksi kimia dalam tubuh, serta eksternal seperti polusi dan konsumsi makanan tidak sehat, antioksidan alami dapat menawarkan perlindungan dengan cara mengisi kembali elektron yang hilang pada radikal bebas tersebut. Tanaman Genjer, yang dikenal kaya akan vitamin C, E, fenol, dan flavonoid, diuji untuk mengidentifikasi kandungan antioksidannya menggunakan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96% untuk menghindari kerusakan termal pada senyawa antioksidan. Hasil uji fitokimia menunjukkan bahwa daun Genjer memiliki kandungan flavonoid dan fenol yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan bagian lainnya, yang menandakan potensi antioksidan yang kuat. Pengujian antioksidan dengan metode DPPH menghasilkan nilai IC50 sebesar 122 ppm untuk ekstrak daun, menunjukkan efektivitas sedang dalam menangkap radikal bebas. Selanjutnya, aplikasi ekstrak ini dalam pembuatan sabun cuci tangan juga diuji, namun menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan yang sangat lemah dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 805 ppm, yang menunjukkan penurunan aktivitas antioksidan akibat interaksi dengan bahan kimia lain dalam formulasi sabun. Penelitian ini menggarisbawahi pentingnya pemilihan metode ekstraksi dan formulasi produk dalam mempertahankan efektivitas antioksidan dari bahan alami. Meskipun ekstrak daun Genjer memiliki potensi sebagai sumber antioksidan yang baik, aplikasinya dalam produk seperti sabun cuci tangan memerlukan strategi formulasi yang lebih cermat untuk mengoptimalkan dan mempertahankan efektivitas antioksidannya. Penelitian lebih lanjut diperlukan untuk mengembangkan formulasi yang dapat meminimalkan pengurangan aktivitas antioksidan ketika diintegrasikan dengan bahan kimia lain.
