Abstract

The phenomenon of the digitalization era has an impact on high employee turnover. On the other hand, the Covid-19 pandemic impacted a lockdown in many countries and regions which in turn, in many businesses and employees being affected (reducing costs, reducing working hours, and even laying off work relations). Taking a sample of various organizations in Indonesia, this study analyzed the factors that cause employee turnover intention (dependent variable) such as employee satisfaction (moderating variable), also remuneration & promotion, fringe benefit, working environment, and perceived external employment as independent variables. The research study was conducted based on 219 respondents who are in various industries. The results showed that working environment and fringe benefits have a positive impact to job satisfaction, job satisfaction has a negative impact to turnover intention and perceived alternate external employment has a positive impact to turnover intention inline with the predictions on the hypothesis. Meanwhile remuneration and perceived alternate external employment didn't have a significant impact on job satisfaction, as well as working environment, remuneration & promotion, and fringe benefits to turnover intention.

Abstract

Susenas has been the backbone of many scientific research and public policies in Indonesia since 1960s. Nonetheless, some of its features have not been clearly conveyed and understood. We highlight two features that often lead to misinterpretation. First, the expenditure variable in Susenas does not measure private outlay but household’s consumption because it includes external assistance. Incomes of households which receive many assistances therefore are overestimated. Second, a sudden change in questionnaire since 2015 may disrupt trend analysis. Specifically for health items, this abrupt change coincides with any change stimulated by a new health initiative introduced by the Central Government.

Abstract

This paper observes the working status and conditions of people who fall into the poorest four deciles in Indonesia. The research aims to provoke policy shifts in the drive to accelerate poverty reduction in Indonesia, taking a longer view of people being more employable and less dependent; also identifying the dominant factors preventing people from moving out of poverty and improving their life quality. By comparing elements of gender, age, education and health against employment status and opportunities. Simultaneously social assistance and protection programs are evaluated in relation to their stated target groups to determine their suitability and their impact.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on the sustainability of micro, small and medium enterprises. The government responded through the Micro Enterprises Actor Assistance (BPUM) program to increase household consumption so that it can maintain business resilience. This is because the contribution of micro, small and medium enterprises to Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reaches 60.51 percent with the largest contribution from micro-enterprises. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of BPUM program on the consumption of micro-enterprises households in Indonesia using Propensity Score Matching (PSM) analysis based on Susenas Maret 2021 data from BPS. The findings showed that BPUM program in general have not been effective in having an impact on micro-enterprises household consumption. However, the BPUM program is effective in having an impact on the consumption of micro-enterprises households in the very poor category because it is able to increase household per capita expenditure, although it is still unable to get them out of poverty. This study suggests the need for precise targeting of the BPUM program at very poor micro-enterprises households and provided with a larger amount of assistance, in order to get micro-enterprise households out of poverty. Keywords: BPUM, PSM, micro-enterprises, household consumption, povertyAbstrakPandemi Covid-19 berdampak terhadap kelangsungan usaha mikro, kecil, dan menengah.

Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: The traditional Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method uses an ordinary least squares regression approach that assumes that indicators must have a continuous scale. When the indicators are categorical, the use of traditional PLS-SEM becomes less appropriate. Background Problems: Multidimensional poverty consists of dimensions that are measured by a binary scale. The use of binary PLS-SEM is better than traditional PLS-SEM in modeling the effect of dimensions on social protection on Java Island. Novelty: The use of binary PLS-SEM with factor scores from the item response theory model applied to the role of dimensions of multidimensional poverty to social protection has not been carried out yet. Research Methods: This study introduces binary PLS-SEM, which is modified from traditional PLS-SEM by changing the data input using a tetrachoric correlation matrix. Finding/Results: Empirical results show that the binary PLS-SEM measurement model is better than traditional PLS-SEM. Evaluation of the structural model shows that the path coefficients of binary PLS-SEM are better than traditional PLS-SEM. Both approaches have an overall model fit. The order of multidimensional poverty dimensions that affect social protection are education, living standard, and health.
