Abstract

Pole and line in the waters of Sorong have contributed significantly to the level of fishery production in West Papua. Based on data from the related service, the production of catches is quite large and there is an increase from year to year. Catching fish using pole and line fishing gear by looking for schools of surface fish that cluster in large enough numbers. The purpose of this study was to determine the comparison of catches before and during the covid 19 pandemic to the catches of Pole and Line vessels at PT. Radios Apirja Sorong and to find out the impact of Pole and Line crew income before and during the covid-19 pandemic The average catch of pole and line vessels at PT. Radios Apirja Sorong before the COVID-19 pandemic (2019) was 77.57 tons per month while the average catch during COVID-19 (2020) was 69.78 tons per month, so the average pole and line boat catch before COVID -19 can be said to be still good, but during the COVID-19 pandemic the average catch decreased (minus) by 7.79 tons per month.

Abstract

Abstract

The operation of the pole and line fishing gear is very dependent on the availability of live bait and also some fishing aids used to support the operation of the fishing gear. Pole and line is a type of fishing gear consisting of a fishing rod, fishing line and non-linking hooks. The purpose of this study was to determine the type of bait that has the most influence on pole and line catches. The research was conducted in March-April 2020 in South Misol, Raja Ampat Regency. The method used is coefisien method. The results showed that the different types of white castle bait and black castle bait in this study affect the number of catches. This can be seen in the catch of the white castle bait 65% and the black castle bait 35%. The results showed that using pole and line fishing gear with white castle live bait is better used.

Abstract

The waters of Matan Island are one of the waters found in Raja Ampat Regency, this water area has very diverse water resources, one of which is coral reef ecosystems. This study aims to determine the percentage of coral reef cover and coral reef conditions using the Manta Tow method. During the observations, it was found that the percentage of coral reef cover along 10 observation points with an average coral cover percentage of 29%, for dead corals with a cover percentage of 16%, coral fractures 23%, 19% sand and other biota 13%. Conditions along the observation trajectory are dominated by coral reefs and coral fractures. The distribution of coral fractures on Matan Island was caused by explosives used by local fishermen which caused damage to coral reefs.
