Abstract

This study examined the diversity and abundance of zooplankton in Lembeh Strait, North Sulawesi. Plankton were sampled monthly from September 2004 to February 2005, collected at four stations using a plankton net of 300 pm meshsize with vertical tow of 10 m water column from the bottom. Environmental factors i.e pH, salinity, current velocity, and dissolved oxygen (DO) were measured in situ at the time of plankton sampling. In general, the environmental conditions of Lembeh Strait were in optimal range for zooplankton. There was a similar pattern in the abundance of zooplankton among stations. Crustacea (mainly Copepoda) was the dominant genera among stations, followed by Ciliata and Tunicata. In all stations, the most abundance taxa (72.3%) was Crustacea (21 genera), mainly copepod (18 genera). There were 7 other classes of holoplankton: Ciliata (2 genera), Rhisopoda (1 genus), Hidrozoa (1 genus), Polychaeta (2 genera), Sagitoedea (1 genus) and Tunicata (2 genera). Meroplankton (larva) were only represented by 5 genera. The most common genera were calanoid copepods, such as Calanus spp., Undinula spp., Eucalanus spp., Rhincalanus spp., Paracalanus spp., and Acartia spp. Diversity, evenness and dominance indices showed that Serena Island, a relatively uncontaminated area, was more productive than the other three stations which were considered as relatively contaminated area with anthrophogenic sources.

Abstract

Title (Bahasa Indonesia): Pengoptimalan penggunaan dermaga di Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudera Bitung, Sulawesi Utara, Indonesia. This study was aimed to determine the basic and functional facilities conditions in the ocean fishing port of Bitung and analyze the level of utilization of basic and functional facilities. This research used a descriptive method, in which data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature reviews. Results indicated that the basic facilities, such as port, reclaimed land, docks 1 and 2, and the complex, were in good condition. The functional facilities were also good, so that the the fishing port of Bitung has met the requirements of technical and operational criteria for fisheries activities. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kondisi fasilitas dasar dan fungsional yang ada di Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudera (PPS) Bitung dan menganalisis tingkat pemanfaatan fasilitas dasar dan fungsional yang ada di PPS Bitung. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif di mana data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan studi pustaka. Dari hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan, bahwa fasilitas pokok yang terdiri dari lahan pelabuhan, lahan reklamasi, dermaga 1 dan 2, serta jalan komplek dalam kondisi baik dan fasilitas fungsional di PPS Bitung juga dalam kondisi baik, sehingga PPS Bitung sudah sesuai dengan kriteria teknis dan operasional dalam kegiatan perikanan.

Abstract

Title (Bahasa Indonesia): Rancangan kapal baja tipe pukat cincin di PT. Crystal Cahaya Totabuan, Sulawesi Utara. Purse Seiner is one of the pelagic fishing boats widely used by fishermen in North Sulawesi. This fishing boat is locally known as pajeko boat. The materials used in purse seiner development are wood, fiberglass and steel. From boat construction point of view, a steel boat has more advantages compared with wooden or fiberglass boats. Steel material is easier to find in the market. Due to the technological and information development in boat designing, the software application, such as Delftship, may enable to design and analyze the characteristics of the boat with the desired boat design. On the other hand, the use such software is still relatively poor in North Sulawesi, since so far the boatbuilding process is usually still based on the experience from building wooden, fiberglass and steel boats. For this reason, the use of software application is needed for planning and boat development process in PT. Crystal Cahaya Totabuan. This study was aimed at developing purse seiner-type boat design with major dimensions of 30 m long, 5 m wide, and 3.2 m height and analyzing the technical characteristics of steel purse seiner using software Delftship applica-tions, and constructing the steel purse seiner in accordance with the sketch in the shipyard of PT. Crystal Cahaya Totabuan. This research is to find the good design and construction of the purse seiner. Kapal pukat cincin adalah salah satu jenis kapal penangkap ikan pelagis yang banyak digunakan oleh nelayan Sulawesi Utara. Kapal ini oleh nelayan setempat lebih dikenal dengan kapal pajeko. Bahan yang digunakan dalam pembuatan kapal pukat cincin adalah kayu, fiberglass dan baja, Dari sudut pandang konstruksi, kapal baja memiliki keunggulan lebih dibandingkan dengan kapal kayu maupun kapal fiberglass. Bajamudah didapat di pasaran. Berkembangnya teknologi dan informasi dalam merancang sebuah kapal dengan menggunakan aplikasi perangkat lunak seperti Delftship dapat memudahkan kami dalam merancang dan menganalisa karakteristik kapal sesuai dengan rancangan kapal yang diinginkan. Di lain pihak penggunaan perangkat lunak tersebut masih relatif kurang di Sulawesi Utara, karena sejauh ini proses pembuatan kapal biasanya didasarkan pada pengalaman yang diperoleh saat pembuatan kapal kayu, fiberglass dan baja. Untuk itu penggunaan aplikasi perangkat lunak dirasakan perlu untuk perencanaan dan proses pembuatan kapal di PT. Crystal Cahaya Totabuan. Penelitian ini bertujuanmembuat rancangan kapal baja tipe pukat cincin dengan ukuran utama panjang 30 meter, lebar 5 meter dan tinggi 3.2 meter; menganalisis karakteristik teknis kapal baja tipe pukat cincin dengan menggunakan aplikasi perangkat lunak Delftship; mengkonstruksi kapal baja tipe pukat cincin sesuai dengan rancangan yang buat di galangan kapal PT. Crystal Cahaya Totabuan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah untuk mendapatkan disain dan konstruksi kapal pukat cincin yang baik.

Abstract

Title (Bahasa Indonesia): Studi tentang tahanan kapal model pada beberapa bentuk kapal ikan FRP [Fibreglass Reinforced Plastic] dari galangan kapal di PT. Cipta Bahari Nusantara Tanawangko Ocean conditions, such as waves or strong currents, could influence the boat motion, speed and stability, and thus, boat construction needs some requirements in relation to boat design, velocity, stability, resistance, main measurements, space and position of engine. The purpose of this study was to measure the effect of total boat resistance of three fishing boat models and to compare the total resistance values. Based on the measurements and the analyses of boat velocity, trim and total resistance values, this study found that total resistance of the boat was affected by boat velocity and trim, and boat’s hull shape. Kondisi lautan, seperti gelombang maupun arus yang deras, mempengaruhi olah gerak kapal, kecepatan kapal dan stabilitas kapal, dan oleh sebab itu, konstruksi kapal memerlukan persyaratan tertentu yang menyangkut rancang bangun, kecepatan kapal, stabilitas kapal, daya tahan, ukuran utama kapal, penentuan letak ruang dan letak mesin. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh tahanan total kapal pada  beberapa jenis kapal ikan serta membandingkan nilai tahanan totalnya. Berdasarkan hasil pengukuran dan analisis hubungan antara kecepatan kapal, perlakuan trim/kemiringan, serta nilai tahanan kapal, penelitian ini menemukan bahwa besarnya nilai tahanan kapal dipengaruhi oleh kecepatan arus, trim kapal, dan bentuk lambung kapal.

Abstract

Title (Bahasa Indonesia): Rencana strategis pengembangan wilayah kerja pelabuhan perikanan untuk mendukung operasional pelabuhan secara optimal This study examines the working area development of fishing port to support optimal operations and services. The purpose of this study is to examine the working area coverage in  ​​the sea and land operations based on the ratio conditions of spatial utilization and sea operation in 2025, and to examine the implementation of IIU Fishing control in the fishing port and the carrying capacity of the port, based on the provisions of Ocean Fishery Port class. This study included primary and secondary data. The former was collected through interviews using questionnaires. The analysis applied SWOT, starting with identification of internal and external factors. Results found several development strategies including fishing port working area development of Bitung Fishing Port, fishermen’s residential area development, inter-sectoral coordination synergy, raw material availability for strengthening fisheries industries, sustainable and responsible fish resources management, human resources capacity building, law enforcement, information technology applications, standard dock development, and regulation consolidation. Penelitian ini mengkaji pengembangan wilayah kerja pelabuhan perikanan untuk mendukung operasional dan pelayanan pelabuhan secara optimal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengkaji luas wilayah kerja operasional laut dan daratan berdasarkan kondisi rasio pemanfaatan ruang wilayah kerja dan operasional laut pada tahun 2025, mengkaji kondisi pelaksanaan pengendalian IIU Fishing di pelabuhan perikanan dan kondisi daya dukung dermaga, yang disesuaikan dengan ketentuan kelas Pelabuhan Perikanan Samudera. Data diperoleh dengan metode wawancara menggunakan kuisioner. Data sekunder juga digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Analisis data menggunakan analisis SWOT, dengan langkah awal mengidentifikasi faktor internal dan eksternal. Hasil yang diperoleh berupa strategi pengembangan, antara lain, memperluas WKOPP PPS Bitung, menetapkan kawasan pemukiman nelayan, sinergitas koordinasi antar sektor, penguatan ketersediaan bahan baku industri perikanan, pengelolaan sumber daya ikan yang bertanggung jawab dan berkelanjutan, penguatan kompetensi sumber daya manusia, penegakan hukum, aplikasi teknologi informatika, pengembangan dermaga sesuai standar, dan konsolidasi regulasi.

Abstract

Pengukuran salinitas dan suhu perairan dilakukan pada hari-hari hujan dan tidak hujan di dua tempat di perairan Teluk Manado, yang memiliki lima sungai utama di pinggirannya, untuk menyelidiki profil vertikal dari salinitas dan suhu, serta ketebalan air tawar. Profil salinitas dan suhu perairan pada hari yang sama di kedua tempat adalah mirip. Pada hari-hari hujan, salinitas rata-rata lapisan permukaan perairan adalah 33,9 lebih rendah 0,3 dibandingkan pada hari-hari tidak hujan. Salinitas permukaan ini setara dengan ketebalan lapisan air tawar sebesar 0,45 m. di lapisan permukaan, profil suhu cukup mirip. Akan tetapi, pada lapisan yang lebih dalam, suhu berosilasi pada fase yang berbeda dengan bertambahnya kedalaman. Kata kunci: ketebalan lapisan air tawar, termoklin, Bunaken.   Salinity and temperature measurements were carried out on rainy days and non rainy days in two locations in Manado Bay, which is the outlet of fresh water masses from five main rivers, to investigate vertical profiles of salinity and temperature, and the thickness of the fresh water layer. Same day salinity and temperature profiles in both places is similar. On rainy days, the average salinity in the surface layer was 33.9, 0.3 lower than that of non rainy days. The surface salinity is equivalent to the thickness of the freshwater layer thickness of 0.45 m. In the surface layer, the temperature profile is quite similar. However, in the deeper layers, the temperature oscillates at different phases according to the increasing depths. Keywords: freshwater thickness, thermocline, Bunaken.

Abstract

Merancang kapal merupakan tahapan dalam pembuatan kapal penangkap ikan, termasuk kapal pukat cincin. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan memetakan tahapan pem­buatan kapal pukat cincin 115 GRT yang dimulai dengan perancangan awal. Informasi cara perencanaan untuk pembuatan kapal baru sulit didapatkan. Untuk itu diperlukan beberapa hal yang perlu dijawab antara lain bagaimana cara mendesain baru kapal pukat cincin berkapasitas 115 GRT, kecepatan 11 knot dan jumlah pendega 10 orang, serta memberikan alternatif pengem­bangan terhadap desain kapal pukat cincin menjadi kapal yang lebih efisien guna memperlancar pengoperasian alat tangkap pukat cincin khususnya di Sulawesi Utara. Berdasarkan hasil peneli­tian maka diperoleh rancangan awal kapal ikan pukat cincin yang memiliki Lbp 27,23 m, Lwl 27,78 m B 6,10 m, D 2,95 m dan d 2,51 m, displacement 300,03 ton, daya angkut 145,02 ton dan daya muat ruang ikan 115,00 ton. Kata kunci: kapal, pukat cincin, rancangan, Sulawesi Utara.   Designing is a stage in the manufacturing of fishing vessels, including purse seiner.  This study was conducted with the aim of mapping the stages of manufacturing a 115 GT purse seiner.  Basic  requirements set for the newly designed purse seiner were as follows: has capacity of 115 GRT, speed of 11 knots and manned by 10 crews, as well as able to provide an alternative for the development of purse seiner vessel design for more effi­cient purse seine fishing in North Sulawesi. This study has resulted in a preliminary design of a purse seiner that has dimensions of  Lbp 27.23 m, Lwl 6.10 m 27.78 B, D 2.95 m and d 2.51 m; displacement of 300.03 tons, carrying capacity of 145.02 tons and load capacity of 115.00 tons of fish.Keywords: vessel, purse seine, design, North Sulawesi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan sebaran suhu dan salinitas di Teluk Manado, Sulawesi Utara. Pengukuran suhu dan salinitas secara vertikal dilakukan di delapan tempat di teluk. Profil vertikal suhu dan salinitas memperlihatkan keberadaan pelapisan kolom air. Secara horizontal, kontur suhu dan salinitas di permukaan memiliki dua “kolam” massa air, yakni kolam yang bersuhu tinggi tapi bersalinitas rendah di bagian timur teluk dan kolam yang bersuhu rendah tapi bersalinitas tinggi di bagian barat teluk. Pada lapisan dalam, kontur suhu dan salinitas cenderung sejajar dengan garis pantai bagian timur. Kata kunci: suhu, salinitas, air sungai, Teluk Manado.   The objective of this research is to describe temperature and salinity distribution in Manado Bay, North Sulawesi.  The vertical measurements of temperature and salinity were done at eight locations in the bay.  The vertical profiles of temperature and salinity shows the existence of water column stratification.  Horizontally, temperature and salinity contours of the surface layer have two pools, i.e. a pool of high temperature but low salinity in the eastern part of the bay and a pool of low temperature but high salinity in the western part of bay.  In a deeper layer, the contours of temperature and salinity tend to be parallel to eastern coastline. Abstract

Kapal penangkap ikan yang terbuat dari kayu dan yang dirancang dan dibangun secara tradisional sangat umum digunakan oleh nelayan di Sulawesi Utara. Untuk efisiensi operasi penangkapan, kapal yang digunakan seharusnya memiliki stabilitas yang baik. Untuk mengetahui nilai stabilitas dari kapal-kapal yang digunakan nelayan, maka penelitian ini telah dilakukan pada salah satu jenis kapal ikan yang umum digunakan yaitu kapal pukat cincin kecil (pajeko) dari tiga tempat di Sulawesi Utara, yaitu di Kota Bitung (pantai timur), Molibagu (pantai selatan) dan Manado (pantai barat). Kapal yang diteliti berjumlah 6 kapal, masing-masing 2 kapal dari setiap tempat, dengan ukuran 4–100 GT. Analisis stabilitas dilakukan melalui tahapan pengukuran deskripsi teknik kapal dan percobaan kemiringan. Hasil analisis, berdasarkan posisi relative titik M (metacenter) terhadap G (titik berat), menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan keenam kapal memiliki nilai stabilitas positif berkisar dari 0,289-1,044 meter. Kata kunci: kapal pukat cincin, pajeko, stabilitas dinamis, Sulawesi utara.   Traditionally-built wooden fishing vessels are very common in North Sulawesi. For the efficiency of fishing operation, those vessels should have good stability. To determine the value of the stability of those fishing vessels, this study has been done on one of the commonly used fishing boats, i.e. small purse seiners (pajeko) from three sites in North Sulawesi, which are the City of Bitung (east coast), Molibagu (south coast) and Tumumpa (west coast). As many as 6 vessels were observed, 2 vessels from each location, with vessel tonnage of 4–100 GT. Stability analysis performed through measurement of vessel technical description and inclining experiment. The results of the analysis, based on the relative position of the M (metacenter) point to G (center of gravity) point, indicating that the overall stability of the six ships have positive values ranging from 0.289 to 1.044 meters.
