Abstract

This research aims to discuss the challenges of PAI teachers in teaching and inculcating Islamic religious values to students and what efforts they made to maximize the process of inculcating Islamic values to students during the COVID-19 pandemic in Ponorogo Regency, East Java. A qualitative descriptive approach was used, while the data were collected through interviews and observation. The results showed that: 1) among the challenges faced by PAI teachers in inculcating Islamic religious values in students were the ineffective process of inculcating values to students due to time and distance limitations as a result of the prohibition of holding offline classes, the unpreparedness of many parties such as teachers, students, and parents in facing the change during the COVID-19 pandemic, and technology's inability to replace the teacher's role as values inculcator fully; 2) To maximize the process of inculcating Islamic religion values to students, the PAI teachers have tried to work together with parents and the community to take part in it so that the role and synergy of "tri pusat pendidikan" (three education centers), namely school, family and community education are truly revitalized.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the impact of leadership style and workload on teacher performance through self-efficacy, with an emphasis on efforts to increase self-efficacy as the main motivation. The survey method was used to collect data based on probability sampling from 30 teachers at MTs Darul Falah Sukorejo. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire consisting of a Likert scale with 4 alternative answers. PLS-SEM analysis is used to analyze data and test construction infrastructure and variables measuring problem-solving abilities. The results of the analysis show that the Principal's Leadership on Self-Efficacy (ẞ-0.151; p-0.135) has an insignificant effect. In addition, self-efficacy was proven not to mediate the effect of principal leadership (ẞ-0.034: p-0.221) and workload (ẞ-0.121; p-0.057) on teacher performance. The emphasis of this research is the importance of integrating training that focuses on increasing teacher self-efficacy. The recommendations of this research include providing support for professional development programs, as well as encouraging school principals to adopt a supportive leadership style and provide ongoing support. Thus, this research can become a basis for increasing self-efficacy through a deeper understanding of the influence of leadership style and workload on their performance, making a significant contribution to efforts to improve the quality of education.

Abstract

Abstract This article examines the concept of reason in Imam al-Ghazali's thought and its relevance to character education in contemporary Islamic education. The background of this research stems from the tendency to reduce rationality in modern education, which emphasizes cognitive and instrumental dimensions and often neglects moral and spiritual dimensions in shaping the character of students. This study aims to analyze the concept of reason as a controller of the nafs in al-Ghazali's perspective and explain its relevance to the development of character education in contemporary Islamic education. This study uses a qualitative approach with a literature review method through conceptual analysis of al-Ghazali's works, especially Ihya 'Ulum al-Din, as well as relevant academic literature. The results of the study show that reason in al-Ghazali's thinking functions as a moral guide that controls the impulses of the nafs and becomes the foundation for the integration of cognitive, moral, and spiritual dimensions in character education. The limitations of this study lie in its conceptual approach, which has not been empirically tested in educational practice. The novelty of this study lies in the reconstruction of al-Ghazali's concept of reason as an integrative framework for the development of character education in the context of contemporary Islamic education.
