Abstract

In recent years, the development of information and digitalization is growing very rapidly, especially in the state of distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, this era leads to the need for 21st-century skills possessed by students to be survived amid several disruptions in various conventional fields. Assignments based on project-based learning have been carried out to the chemistry students at Indonesia University of Education in the Basic Analytical Chemistry course to learn the effect of project based learning using youtube as the publication media to improve various 21st-century skills. 6 videos explained the advanced methods applied in the analytical chemistry field have been resulted in. These videos were uploaded to YouTube with a total of 2662 viewers, 1577 likes, as well as 235 comments. Descriptive studies were used as a research method to get some respon from students according to the implementation of 21st-century skills. In addition, we collected qualitative respons from viewers related to the content of explanatory videos that have been made. Through a survey, around 85% of students stated agree and strongly agree that this project-based learning could improve their collaboration skill (4.34/5 scale), scientific literature literacy (4.40/5), creative thinking (4,49/5), communication (4.54/5) as well as critical thinking (4.7/5). Finally, positive and supportive respon from audiences strengthened arguments that this assignment could be exercising the teaching and communication skills of students

Abstract

Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir perkembangan informasi dan digitalisasi berkembang dengan sangat pesat, secara khusus dalam pembelajaran jarak jauh saat pandemi COVID-19. Selain itu perkembangan zaman yang terkini mengarah pada diperlukannya keterampilan abad 21 untuk dimiliki oleh peserta didik agar dapat bertahan di tengah berbagai disrupsi pada berbagai bidang konvensional. Pemberian tugas berbasis project-based learning telah dilaksanakan kepada mahasiswa prodi kimia, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, pada mata kuliah Kimia Analitik Dasar. Telah dihasilkan 6 video yang membahas metode-metode terbaru yang diaplikasikan pada bidang kimia analitik. Video-video tersebut diupload ke media Youtube dengan total 2662 penonton, 1577 suka dan 235 jumlah komentar, Studi deskriptif digunakan sebagai metode penelitian untuk mendapatkan umpan balik dari mahasiswa selaku peserta didik berkaitan dengan implementasi keterampilan abad 21 dan juga dari penonton untuk mendapatkan respons secara kualitatif berkaitan dengan ketersampaian isi video eksplanasi yang telah dibuat. Dari hasil survey, sekitar 85% mahasiswa menyatakan setuju dan sangat setuju bahwa project-based learning ini dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berkolaborasi (skala 4,34/5), literasi karya ilmiah (4,40/5), berpikir kreatif (4,49/5), komunikasi (4,54/5) dan berpikir kritis (4,7/5). Tanggapan dari audiens yang positif dan suportif juga menguatkan pendapat bahwa penugasan ini mampu melatih keterampilan mengajar dan berkomunikasi dari mahasiswa.

Abstract

The effectiveness of learning can be increased by strengthening teacher’s competence and pedagogy. The targets of learning chemistry during the industrial revolution 4.0 include understanding the concept of chemistry and its relation to daily life. Based on the results of the 2017-2019 National Examination (UN) study conducted by the madrasa team, it is known that atomic structure and chemical periodicity is one of the materials considered difficult and in teachers and students, so that understanding on these topics needs to be improved. Increasing the understanding of chemical concepts needs to be solved intensively by demanding a variety of problem that is packaged through learning from daily phenomena. One type of learning that can be used is Problem Based Learning (PBL). The selection of PBL learning because it is start with complex daily life problems and also demands High Order Thinking (HOTS) of students and teachers. PBL-based learning can be socialized to teachers through Community Service (PKM) activities using the Community Education method in the form of workshops and assignments including: curriculum, conception, misconception analysis, and preparation of learning tools, so in the future teachers can develop a learning tool based on PBL independently with right conception.Efektivitas pembelajaran dapat ditingkatkan dengan cara menguatkan kompetensi profesional dan pedagogi seorang guru. Target pembelajaran kimia pada masa revolusi industri 4.0 diantaranya pemahaman konsep kimia dan keterkaitannya dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Berdasarkan hasil telaah Ujian Nasional (UN) 2017-2019 yang dilakukan oleh tim madrasah, diketahui bahwa materi struktur atom dan sifat periodik unsur adalah salah satu materi yang dianggap sulit dan sering ditemukan miskonsepsi pada guru dan siswa, sehingga pemahaman pada topik tersebut perlu ditingkatkan. Peningkatan pemahaman konsep kimia semacam ini perlu dilakukan secara intensif dengan menuntut ragam penyelesaian masalah yang dikemas melalui pembelajaran dari fenomena keseharian dan penyelesaian masalah. Salah jenis pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan ini adalah pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL). Pemilihan pembelajaran dapat PBL dilakukan karena pembelajaran ini diawali dari masalah kehidupan sehari-hari yang bersifat kompleks dan juga menuntut tuntutan kemampuan High Order Thinkings (HOTS) siswa dan guru. Pembelajaran berbasis PBL dapat disosialisasikan kepada guru melalui kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) dengan menggunakan metode Pendikan Masyarakat berupa workshop dan penugasan meliputi: analisis kurikulum, analisis konsepsi, analisis miskonsepsi, dan penyususnan perangkat pembelajaran, sehingga diharapkan kedepannya guru dapat menyusun suatu perangkat pembelajaran berbasis PBL secara mandiri dengan konsepsi kimia yang baik

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian pada Masyarakat (PkM) dilaksanakan dengan memberikan pelatihan pada guru di Kabupaten Sukabumi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan wawasan mengenai pengembangan keprofesionalan guru, lebih khusus seberapa dalam penerapan Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) dan Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) dalam kegiatan pembelajaran di sekolah, juga bagaimana guru dapat menuliskan data kegiatan pembelajaran di sekolah menjadi suatu bentuk artikel. Kegiatan dilaksanakan dengan terstruktur dan sistematis dengan total waktu kegiatan setara 32 Jam Pelajaran (JP) secara daring dan luring. Hasil dari pengabdian ini diketahui bahwa guru mendapat banyak pengetahuan strategi menghubungkan pembelajaran kimia berlatar belakang budaya dan mengacu pada tingkat kemampuan siswa. Selain itu, lebih dari 65% siswa menyukai kegiatan pembelajaran kimia dengan pendekatan budaya lokal, dan hampir 100% siswa merasa puas dengan pembelajaran yang dilakukan oleh guru, yang didasarkan pada tingkat pengetahuan siswa, serta guru berhasil mendiseminasikan tiga tulisan pada topik pemahaman konsep dan pengetahuan prasyarat kimia, profil kemampuan berpikir logis siswa dengan pendekatan TaRL, dan pemahaman siswa SMA kelas X pada materi ikatan kimia dengan menggunakan model guided discovery learning.Community Service activities are carried out by providing training to teachers in Sukabumi Regency. This activity aims to provide insight into teacher professional development, more specifically how deeply Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) and Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) are implemented in learning activities at school, as well as how teachers can write data on learning activities at school into article form. Activities were carried out in a structured and systematic manner with a total activity time equivalent to 32 JP online and offline. As a result of this service, it is known that teachers gain a lot of knowledge about strategies relating to chemistry learning with cultural backgrounds and referring to students' ability levels. Apart from that, more than 65% of students liked chemistry learning activities with a local cultural approach, and almost 100% of students were satisfied with the learning carried out by the teacher, which was based on the student's level of knowledge, and the teacher succeeded in disseminating three articles on understanding chemistry concepts and prerequisite knowledge; profile of students' logical thinking abilities using the TaRL approach, and class X high school students' understanding of chemical bonding material using the guided discovery learning model.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh tes keterampilan proses sains termokimia yang mempunyai kriteria tes baik ditinjau dari validitas isi, reliabilitas, indeks kesukaran, dan indeks diskriminasi. Penelitian ini didasari oleh perlunya suatu tes untuk mengukur keterampilan proses sains siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pengembangan dan validasi. Partisipan yang dilibatkan adalah delapan orang pakar pendidikan dan kimia sebagai panelis dan 34 siswa kelas XI jurusan IPA salah satu SMA di Kabupaten Bandung Barat sebagai responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tes keterampilan proses sains yang dikembangkan berdasarkan validitas isi dengan CVR adalah valid, reliabel dengan kategori baik (Cronbach's Alpha = 0,866). Hasil tersebut menunjukkan bahwa tes keterampilan proses sains siswa kelas X

Abstract

This study aims to develop a STEM-oriented creative content based on electronic portfolio assessment instrument to improve students' critical thinking skills on buffer solution material. The assessment instruments developed were tasks and rubrics. The research was conducted using the research and development method 4D model and was carried out in only three stages, namely define, design, and develop, with limited trials. The research instruments used were interview guidelines, validation sheets, observation sheets, tasks, and rubrics. The participants in this study is XI class students. The tasks developed in this electronic portfolio assessment consisted of three tasks: analysis essay questions, summaries, and practicum reports. The results showed that the instrument was valid and reliable. Based on the results of the limited trial, the electronic portfolio assessment instrument developed can improve students' critical thinking skills on buffer solution material with moderate and high classifications.
