Abstract

Background: Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that requires long-term treatment and patient compliance so that the healing process can be achieved properly. One of the factors that plays an important role in the success of pulmonary TB treatment is family support. Families who are directly involved in care and motivation can increase the patient's enthusiasm to complete treatment. Therefore, empowering families in supporting pulmonary TB treatment is very important to reduce the number of failed treatments and prevent drug resistance. This community service aims to empower families in providing effective support to pulmonary TB patients so that patients can complete their treatment completely. The empowerment program carried out through counseling on the importance of adherence to TB treatment, as well as training on how to care for patients and reduce social stigma against TB, is expected to increase the active role of families in supporting patient treatment. This community service activity involves families of pulmonary TB patients, medical personnel, and the surrounding community, with an educational and collaborative approach. The results of this community service show an increase in family understanding of TB disease, the importance of adherence to treatment, and a reduction in stigma against TB patients. In addition, families feel more prepared and motivated to support patients in undergoing treatment. Family empowerment has been proven effective in increasing the completion rate of pulmonary TB treatment, which in turn can reduce transmission rates and drug resistance.

Abstract

Lower back pain is a common complaint experienced by pregnant women, especially in the second and third trimesters as the gestational age increases. This condition can interfere with daily activities and reduce the quality of life of pregnant women. Pregnancy exercise is one of the non-pharmacological interventions that is believed to help reduce lower back pain. This study aims to analyze the effect of pregnancy exercise on reducing the level of lower back pain in pregnant women in the second and third trimesters. The research method that can be used is a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test design with one comparison treatment. The research sample was 28 pregnant women in the second and third trimesters who experienced lower back pain and met the inclusion criteria. Measurement of the level of lower back pain will be carried out before and after the intervention period using a valid and reliable pain scale. The data collected will be analyzed using an appropriate statistical test to compare changes in pain levels between before and after the intervention. The results of the study showed that the average lower back pain before the intervention was 3.32 and Std.Deviation 0.772. The average lower back pain after the intervention was 2.25 and Std.Deviation 1.005. Based on the results of bivariate analysis using the Paired-Samples T Test, a significant p value of 0.000 (p <0.05) was obtained, so there is a difference in lower back pain in pregnant women. Thus, it can be said that there is a significant difference in lower back pain before and after pregnancy exercise. It is hoped that the results of this study can provide scientific evidence regarding the effect of pregnancy exercise in reducing lower back pain in pregnant women in the second and third trimesters, so that it can be a recommendation in midwifery care to improve the comfort and quality of life of pregnant women. Keywords: Postpartum exercise, uterine involution, normal delivery

Abstract

Hypertension is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease and contributes significantly to global morbidity and mortality. In Indonesia, the prevalence of hypertension in Women of Reproductive Age (WUS) reaches around 28.2%, while the use of hormonal contraception—especially injections, pills, and implants—is still a popular choice among couples of reproductive age. Several studies have shown a relationship between the use of exogenous hormones and increased blood pressure, but specific data at the local service facility level are still limited. This study aims to determine the relationship between the use of hormonal contraception and the incidence of hypertension in WUS at BPM Fitria Ningsih Siadari, Karawang Regency, West Java. This study used a cross-sectional analytic design. A sample of 102 WUS (15–49 years) who actively visit BPM Fitria Ningsih Siadari will be taken using purposive sampling. The independent variables include the type of hormonal contraception and duration of use; the dependent variable is hypertension status (blood pressure ≥ 140/90 mm Hg). Demographic data and confounding factors (age, BMI, family history of hypertension, salt intake, physical activity) were collected through questionnaires and standard blood pressure measurements. Bivariate (Chi square) and multivariate (logistic regression) analyses were used to evaluate the association, with a significance level of p <0.05. The results obtained The use of hormonal contraception in BPM Fitria Ningsih Siadari, Karawang Regency, West Java in 2023, the majority used injectable contraception, as many as 58 respondents (56.9%). Blood pressure in BPM Fitria Ningsih Siadari, Karawang Regency, West Java in 2023 was mostly grade 1 hypertension, as many as 46 respondents (45%). There was a relationship between the use of hormonal contraception and the incidence of hypertension in women of childbearing age (WUS) in BPM Fitria Ningsih Siadari, Karawang Regency, West Java in 2023 with a p value = 0.000

Abstract

During the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, as fetal development progresses, pregnant women often experience lower back pain. This condition not only causes discomfort but also affects daily activities and overall quality of life. One of the non-pharmacological approaches believed to reduce lower back pain is prenatal exercise. This study aims to evaluate the effect of pregnancy exercise on reducing lower back pain among pregnant women in the second and third trimesters. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test approach without a control group. The sample consisted of 28 pregnant women in their second and third trimesters who met the inclusion criteria and reported experiencing lower back pain. Pain levels were assessed before and after the intervention using a valid and reliable pain scale. Data were analyzed using appropriate statistical tests, particularly the paired sample t-test. The findings revealed that the mean pain score before the intervention was 3.32 with a standard deviation of 0.772. After the intervention, the mean pain score decreased to 2.25 with a standard deviation of 1.005. Results of the paired t-test indicated a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), demonstrating a significant difference in pain levels before and after pregnancy exercise. These results indicate that pregnancy exercise is effective in reducing lower back pain in women during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Therefore, prenatal exercise can be recommended as a safe, simple, and beneficial non-pharmacological intervention in midwifery care. It is expected that this study provides scientific evidence supporting the role of pregnancy exercise in improving maternal comfort and quality of life throughout pregnancy.

Abstract

Postpartum exercise is exercise that is carried out from the first day of birth every day until the tenth day, consisting of a series of body movements carried out to speed up the mother's recovery. The aim of postpartum exercise is to help speed up the mother's recovery, speed up the involution process and restore the function of the womb. The benefits of postpartum exercise include improving blood circulation, body and back posture after giving birth, improving muscle tone, pelvic and abdominal muscle stretching and helping mothers to be more relaxed and fresh after giving birth. Postpartum exercise is rarely done because postpartum mothers are afraid to do a lot of movement, are afraid of the stitches coming out, the perineal wound still hurts and there is a belief that has developed and is believed by society, namely that if it has not been 40 days after giving birth, the mother is not allowed to do activities. The aim of the research was to determine the effect of postpartum exercise on uterine involution during normal postpartum delivery at the Semambawa Community Health Center BPM, South Nias in 2023.This research used a quasi-experimental research design with a post test only design with one comparison treatment, the sample in the research was 30 people using a Random Sampling System. The data collected in the research is primary data, namely data obtained directly from respondents. The data analysis used was the Wilcoxon signed ranks test. The results of research on uterine involution before postpartum exercise intervention during normal postpartum delivery, the majority experienced subinvolution, 30 people (100%), uterine involution after postpartum exercise intervention during normal postpartum period, the majority experienced normal, 22 people (73.3%), there was an effect Postpartum exercise on uterine involution in normal postpartum with a value of p=0.000 p<0.05. So Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that there is an influence of postpartum exercise on uterine involution during normal postpartum delivery at the Semambawa Community Health Center, South Nias in 2023. Midwives are expected to improve and provide midwifery services by applying postpartum exercise methods and relaxation techniques to postpartum mothers so that the process of uterine involution goes well.
