Abstract

This study aims to find out how Islamic religious education courses contain the concept of deradicalization in it and how far it has a role in developing the paradigm of religious moderation in higher education. Many studies mention the strength of radicalism in higher education, but Islamic religious education courses are not really a reference for students in religion. Students' religious understanding grows towards uncertainty because other sources such as religious study activities, books and the internet exceed the belief in Islamic religious education courses. The method in this research is a qualitative-descriptive survey research. Collecting data through in-depth interviews, field observations and documentation. The research locations were at three public public universities in Central Java, namely Semarang State University, Sebelas Maret University, Surakarta, and Jenderal Sudirman University. The results of the study indicate that PAI courses have not contributed much to the development of moderation da'wah and deradicalization efforts in higher education. Several factors that influence Islamic religious education courses cannot answer the problem of campus radicalism, namely in terms of learning strategies, lecturers, and the environment.

Abstract

Social media users come from various circles with different social and cultural statuses which will bring up diverse language variations. Additionally, language variations in speech events on social media certainly have characteristics that are distinctive and different from speech events in general. This study aimed at investigating types and forms of Indonesian language varieties occurred in speech events on social media. A quantitative and qualitative approaches was applied to accomplish the research objective. The quantitative approach was carried out using content analysis. The qualitative approach used was based on sociolinguistic theory. The research data were collected using the listening method (uninvolved conversation observation technique, recording technique, note-taking technique) and questionnaire method. The data were analyzed using the content analysis method to determine the form and percentage of language variety used in speech events on social media. In addition, Miles and Huberman's model was also used for data reduction, verification, conclusion drawing. The research found that language varieties in speech events on social media was not dominated by non-standard varieties, and inter-language mixture (code switching and code mixing). The characteristics of speech events on social media use, among others, informal language, daily-conversation language, unnatural context, and shortened writing. The results implied that the variety of language use on social media has increased since the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, it is necessary to research the use of codes, politeness, or hate speech on social media. Moreover, opportunities are also open to research the use of social media for language learning.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan dan menemukan model yang tepat dalam peningkatan kualitas layanan akademik dan administrasi dalam peningkatan kompetensi dan akselerasi studi mahasiswa. Jenis penelitian yang dilakukan adalah penelitian ekplanasi dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Penelitian dilakukan pada Program Studi Ilmu Pendidikan Bahasa (S3) Pascasarjana Unnes. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Program Studi Ilmu Pendidikan Bahasa (S3) Program Pascasarjana Unnes tahun 2019. Adapun Metode penarikan sampel digunakan dengan cara sensus, yakni jumlah keseluruhan populasi dapat dijadikan sebagai jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini, sehingga sampel dapat ditentukan. Metode pengumpulan data adalah field research dan library research. Hasil penelitian ini adalah kualitas layanan akademik mahasiswa pada Program Studi Ilmu Pendidikan Bahasa yaitu: 1) berdasarkan bukti fisik (Tangible) 78,10 % mahasiswa menyatakan puas terhadap layanan yang diberikan program studi; 2) berdasarkan keandalan (Reliability) mahasiswa yang menyatakan puas sebesar 75,00 % masuk kategori tinggi; 3) berdasarkan daya tanggap (Responsiveness), mahasiswa menyatakan puas dengan angka persentase 78,00 %; 4) berdasarkan empati (Emphaty), mahasiswa puas dengan angka persentase 85,00%; dan 5) berdasarkan jaminan (Assurance), dengan persentasi 79,44 % masuk kategori tinggi. Mahasiswa merasa puas atas layanan yang diberikan oleh staf akademik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan praktik sosial dalam memproduksi wacana berita korupsi di surat kabar. Data dalam penelitian ini dijaring menggunakan metode simak dengan teknik catat. Adapun data penelitian berupa penggalan teks berita korupsi di surat kabar Kompas, Republika, Suara Merdeka, dan Jawa Pos. Analisis data menggunakan model analisis wacana kritis van Dijk dengan focus pada dimensi praktik sosial. Dimensi praktik sosial berhubungan dengan berbagai tataran organisasi sosial yang berbeda-beda. Hasil penelitian adalah (1) aspek institusional, yakni institusi media massa biasanya memiliki orientasi ekonomi atau politik yang memungkinkan dapat mengintervensi dan memengaruhi suatu pemberitaan; (2) aspek situasional, yakni dalam melakukan pengemasan pemberitaan, media cetak akan mempertimbangkan situasi-situasi yang sedang hangat dibicarakan, peristiwa aktual yang sedang terjadi, serta cara media memandang isu atau peristiwa tersebut; (3) aspek sosial budaya, yakni lebih melihat pada kajian etika yang menjadi latar atau setting adanya suatu nilai-nilai etis atau moralitas yang diterapkan, dan (4) aspek sosiologis media dan masyarakat, yakni dengan adanya perubahan sistem politik, ekonomi, dan sosial budaya, maka kondisi sosiologis masyarakat juga akan terpengaruh. Adanya perubahan mengenai kebebasan pers yang semula dibatasi menjadi bebas, maka suatu media bisa memberitakan suatu peristiwa sesuai dengan sudut pandang dan kepentingan masing-masing pemilik media.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of sentence types as persuasive language strategies in the captions of lip cream posts on the Instagram account @itsomgbeauty and to analyze the ideational, interpersonal, and textual metafunctions based on Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) theory. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data sources consisting of eight captions for lip cream posts uploaded to the Instagram account @itsomgbeauty in 2025. Data were selected through purposive sampling and collected using documentation techniques. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of identification, classification, analysis, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that persuasive language strategies in subtitles are constructed through the use of declarative, imperative, interrogative, and exclamatory sentences. Declarative sentences are the most dominant type used because they serve to convey information about the product’s advantages. Imperative sentences are used to encourage the audience to take specific actions, interrogative sentences are used to increase audience engagement, while exclamatory sentences are used to reinforce the emotional aspect of the promotional message. Additionally, the ideational, interpersonal, and textual metafunctions are used in an integrated manner to construct persuasive messages. The ideational metafunction represents the product and user experience; the interpersonal metafunction builds a relationship between the brand and the audience; and the textual metafunction organizes the message for easy understanding. Thus, the persuasion strategy in digital cosmetic promotions is built through a combination of informative, interactive, and persuasive language functions.
