Abstract

The accumulation of non-biodegradable plastic waste in Temporary Storage Sites (TPS) is a critical issue across various regions, including Wates Village, Kediri Regency. The actively operating TPS has not been optimized for advanced management of plastic waste, thereby posing a potential environmental pollution risk. This Community Service (PkM) program aims to address this problem by innovating BOTRIK (Ecobrick Bottles) as aesthetic, sustainable field decorations. The implementation method includes four stages: (1) licensing and coordination with stakeholders; (2) preparation of materials and tools; (3) execution, consisting of collection, sorting, washing, and ecobrick production; and (4) participatory evaluation. The program involved 23 KKN students, the village government, TPS managers, and local community members. As a result, over 55 kg of plastic waste was successfully processed into approximately 175 ecobricks, which were then assembled into two permanent field decoration units in floral and geometric shapes. The impacts achieved include a significant reduction in plastic waste volume at the TPS, increased community capacity in waste management, and the creation of new aesthetic value in public spaces. The BOTRIK program not only demonstrates the effectiveness of ecobricks as a community-based waste solution but also offers a replicable model for other regions. Program sustainability is recommended through the integration of village policies, the establishment of a dedicated waste bank, and the diversification of ecobrick products with economic value.

Abstract

Abstract

Obesity has become a significant global health problem, including in Indonesia, with prevalence continuing to increase across all age groups. Based on SKI 2023, the prevalence of obesity in adults (≥18 years) reached 23.4%, while among children aged 5-12 years, the prevalence of overweight increased to 11.9%. This community service activity aims to improve public knowledge of obesity prevention by educating about healthy local food consumption and regular weight monitoring for toddlers and children in Gurah Village, Kediri Regency. The activity was carried out using a participatory educational approach, including interactive lectures, group discussions, and growth-monitoring demonstrations, involving 18 adults (parents of toddlers and children) and 12 toddlers/children. Data were collected through pretest and posttest questionnaires consisting of 15 multiple-choice questions, and analyzed using a paired t-test after passing the Shapiro-Wilk normality test. The results showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge, with the mean pretest score of 8.22 rising to 12.67 on the posttest (p < 0.001). The N-Gain analysis showed an average score of 0.61 (medium category), indicating that the intervention was quite effective. Weight measurement results showed that 3 of 12 children (25%) had weights above the standard. This activity confirms that health education delivered through leaflets and PowerPoint presentations, integrated with routine growth monitoring, is effective as an obesity-prevention strategy at the village level. Recommendations for follow-up include sustainable assistance through posyandu cadres and the development of digital-based educational media for the younger generation.

Abstract

Background of Study: Drug rationality is an important aspect to ensure the achievement of therapeutic effects and improve the quality of life of patients with the criteria of the right drug, right dose, right diagnosis and right indication. Meanwhile, thet use oft a drugt is saidt to bet irrationalt if thet possibilityt of negativet impactst receivedt by thet patientt is greatert than its benefitstt.Aims and Scope of Paper: This study aimst to determine the descriptiont of the rationalityt of Denguet Hemorrhagict Fevert (DHF) treatment in hospitalized patients at RSI Siti Aisyah Madiun in terms of the right drug, right dose, right diagnosis, and right indication.Method: The study used was an observationalt study conductedt retrospectively with univariate analysis and purposive sampling techniques. Results: The use of drugs for Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) from the electrolyte fluid group, namely asering infusion 22.56%, RL infusion 33.83%, NS infusion 23.31%, D5 infusion 0.45% 20.30%, and for the antipyretic group, namely paracetamol 100%, for the antiemetic group, namely ondansetron 67.67%, metoclopramide 32.33% while from the supplement and vitamin group, namely curcuma 77.44% and psidii 22.56%. The rationality of drug use includes 100% correct drug, 97.74% correct dose, and 100% correct diagnosis and 100% correct indication. Conclusion: Based on the variables tested, thet rationalityt of the uset of drugs for Dengue Hemorrhagict Fevert (DHF) has met the criteria for rationality of treatment.
