Abstract

People with Diabetes Mellitus need long-term care and treatment to improve their quality of life. Family support and self-efficacy are believed to have an influence on the quality of life of elderly people with diabetes mellitus. The objective of the study was to identify family support, self-efficacy and quality of life for elderly people with diabetes mellitus. This study is a descriptive analytic study with a cross-sectional approach.  The sample in this study were elderly people with diabetes mellitus who were selected using a purposive sampling technique with a total of 54 respondents. Furthermore, univariate data analysis was carried out using the frequency distribution and statistical tests using the Spearman Rho Test. The results of the Rho Spearman analysis showed that family support was positively correlated with the quality of life of elderly people with diabetes mellitus (rho=0.579; p<0.01). Meanwhile, the results of the Rho Spearman analysis showed that self-efficacy correlated positively with the quality of life of elderly people with diabetes mellitus (rho=0.537; p<0.01). The recommendation from the results of this study, is that nurses can increase family support and self-efficacy for elderly people with diabetes mellitus by forming a support group consisting of families who have elderly family members with diabetes mellitus so that they can share information related to how to provide family support to provide positive reinforcement and motivation to elderly people with hypertension so that their quality of life increases.

Abstract

Melimpahnya limbah organik di Desa Jamintoro yang belum dimanfaatkan secara maksimal oleh masyarakat desa dapat diolah menjadi larutan eco enzim dengan cara yang mudah dan biaya yang terjangkau bagi masyarakat. Eco enzim adalah larutan seribu manfaat hasil fermentasi sampah organik yang dicampur gula dan air dengan takaran tertentu yang nantinya akan menjadi cairan berwarna coklat beraroma buah. Kegiatan ini memiliki tujuan untuk mendorong masyarakat Desa Jamintoro dalam mengurangi limbah organik dengan mengubahnya menjadi larutan eco enzim yang dapat digunakan untuk berbagai kegiatan rumah tangga. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini terdiri dari tiga tahapan kegiatan, yang pertama yaitu tahapan perencanaan pengelolaan limbah organik di Desa Jamintoro oleh KKN Kolaboratif kelompok 128, tahapan kedua yaitu koordinasi KKN Kolaboratif kelompok 128 dengan pihak Desa Jamintoro, dan tahapan terakhir ialah kegiatan sosialisasi pembuatan larutan eco enzim kepada masyarakat Desa Jamintoro. Kegiatan sosialisasi ini berlangsung dengan baik dan lancar serta didukung penuh oleh civitas akademika, aparat desa, dan masyarakat Desa Jamintoro.

Abstract

Proper control, especially in the self-care management of hypertension in the elderly, is reported to be able to prevent unwanted complications. The aim of this research is to identify the characteristics of hypertension self-care management behavior in the elderly. The type of research was descriptive with a sample size of 150 out of 240 elderly people with hypertension in rural areas. The variable studied was hypertension self-care management behavior. The research instrument is the HSBMQ questionnaire. Data analysis is in the form of univariate analysis in the form of frequency distribution of the indicators of the variables studied. The research results showed that elderly people with hypertension had adequate behavior in self-care management for hypertension. This indicates that elderly people with hypertension are quite good in terms of self-integration, self-regulation, interaction with health workers, monitoring blood pressure, and compliance with treatment. Elderly people with hypertension should be able to increase their implementation of a healthy lifestyle such as diet and physical activity, be able to properly recognize the signs of hypertension and appropriate actions to overcome them, be able to discuss with health workers regarding action plans to overcome the hypertension they suffer from, be able to monitor blood pressure regularly , and able to comply with recommended treatment.

Abstract

Entering old age, more and more diseases attack the elderly, including high blood pressure. Most people with hypertension don't know they have hypertension because it has no symptoms, so it's often called the silent killer. Elderly people must adhere to treatment in cases of hypertension, especially by taking antihypertensive drugs. The problem faced by elderly people with hypertension is that most of them do not adhere to their medication. The behavior of following a doctor's advice comes from beliefs or perceptions. The health belief model is one of the theories based on faith. This study aimed to analyze the factors affecting medication adherence in the elderly with hypertension as a function of health belief regimen. This study uses a type of quantitative research. The study design used descriptive analysis with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of 107 elderly people with a sample of 100 elderly people with hypertension in the work area of Jenggawah Primary Health Center. The study will be conducted from April to May 2023. The instrument used in the study is a questionnaire. Based on the test results by SPSS using a logistic regression test with α of 0.05, perceived susceptibility p-value of 0.003, p-value of perceived severity of 0.036, p-value of perceived benefit is 0.682 observed, perceived barriers are found to be p-value 0.216, self-efficacy p value 0.081, cues to action p value 0.746. Based on the study results, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the perception of susceptibility and the perception of severity on the adherence to drug treatment in the elderly with hypertension.

Abstract

Reproductive health problem among adolescent are increases, such as child marriage, premarital sexual behavior, sexual violence, use drugs and cigarettes, balanced nutrition and access to health services. Adolescents in rural areas dominate reproductive health problems among adolescents. The family was contributing to adolescent decision to act. The objective were to improve family health maintenance task in adolescent reproductive health using family support group (FSG) method. The family support group involving 20 families with 2 meetings, that are increasing knowledge at meeting 1 and implementing FSG at meeting 2. Before and after the FSG was carried out, participants were given the opportunity to fill out a questionnaire about family health maintenance tasks. The results of this community service was increases implementation of family health maintenance tasks in improving reproductive health in adolescents. The majority of families' ability to recognize problems has increased by 85% in the good category, the majority of families' ability to make decisions has increased by 100% in the good category, families' ability to care for the family has increased by 65% in the good category, families' ability to modify the environment experienced an increase of 70% in the good category and families' ability to access health services increased by 90% in the good category. Family support groups can be one method applied to improve adolescent reproductive health through optimizing family health maintenance tasks.

Abstract

The understanding of Indonesian teenagers, especially in rural areas, about reproductive health is still very low, especially among teenage girls, only 10.4% of the 15-24 year old age group know about reproductive health, resulting in various reproductive health problems such as free sex, sexual harassment, dropping out of school, early marriage, pregnancy outside of marriage, and many religious marriages. The purpose of this study was to explore the description of factors affecting on reproductive health management in adolescents. The study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Participants were selected using a purposive sampling strategy. There were 12 participants with the criteria, namely adolescents aged 14-18 years, receiving data collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the research theme were obtained using collaizi analysis which was arranged in stages using data triangulation starting from coding, categorization, and theme formation. Based on the results of the analysis of participant information, three main themes were formulated, namely knowledge, parental support, and peers. The conclusion of this study is that factors that influence adolescent reproductive health in rural areas are knowledge factors, family support and peer support. Adolescents are expected to be able to take responsibility for maintaining their reproductive health independently, increase spirituality and be able to maintain open communication with their parents and peers.

Abstract

Introduction: Older people with diabetes mellitus need disease management through self-management which is quite complex because the disease will have an impact on their health condition both physically and psychologically. Based on Self Determination Theory, motivation is important component in improving psychological health and treatment effectiveness of patients with diabetes mellitus. The purpose of this community service is to strive for diabetes self-care management so that blood sugar levels can be controlled reduce the risk of complications and achieve a prosperous psychological condition. Methods: The method of implementing this community service is in the form of health education, early screening, diabetes gymnastics, and family assistance in carrying out family healthcare functions. This community service was carried out at Jenggawah Public Health Center in March 2023. The participants of this community service activity are older people with diabetes mellitus. Results: There is an increase in the motivation of older people to carry out self-care activities, and the older people and families can also practice diabetes gymnastics by what has been taught. Conclusion: With optimal management behavior of diabetes mellitus in older people, the psychological aspects of the elderly with Diabetes Mellitus will improve so that further complications of this disease can be prevented.

Abstract

Hypertension is a global health problem in the elderly population. The family has a role in self-care for elderly people who are vulnerable to health problems. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between family health care functions and self-care management in elderly people with hypertension. This research is quantitative research. The sample size was 150 elderly people with hypertension using a sampling technique, namely simple random sampling. The variables studied were family health care function and hypertension self-care management. The chi square test was used as a bivariate analysis in this study. The research results found that the majority (57.3%) had good family health care functions, the majority (54%) had poor self-care management. Family health care function is related to self-care management in elderly people with hypertension with p value = 0.000 < 0.05%. Most elderly people with hypertension who have good family health care functions have good self-care management. Families should maximize their role regarding the implementation of family health care functions to be able to maximize good self-care management for family members who suffer from hypertension.
