Abstract

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the reciprocal strategy on reading comprehension of mechanical engineering students at SMK N 1 West Sumatra. This research was a quantitative research with the type of pre-experimental research. Sampling data was collected using a random sampling technique. The number of research samples was 25 people with a population of 533 people. The treatment the researchers gave to the sample aimed to determine the effect of reading comprehension outcomes using a reciprocal teaching strategy. The instrument used in collecting data was a learning achievement test with multiple choice and essay types. Data analysis was carried out using Microsoft Excel. Based on the findings of the research that was conducted, it is observed that the t-test value of 33,32 exceeds the critical t-table value of 2.063 at a significance level of α = 0.05. This indicates a significant difference in students' reading comprehension abilities before and after implementing the reciprocal teaching strategy. This shows that the alternative hypothesis (H1) has been accepted, whereas the null hypothesis (Ho) has been rejected.

This research is a qualitative research. The data collection techniques are observation, written tests, and interviews. The research subjects were 27 second grade students of Culinary 7 at SMKN 9 Padang. The indicators of difficulty studied are social function, structure and linguistic features. From the data obtained, as many as 10% of students experienced difficulties with the social function indicators, 40% of students experienced difficulties with the structure indicators, and another 50% experienced difficulties with the linguistic feature indicators. Factors that influence students' difficulties in writing imperative sentences in procedural texts are students' lack of proficiency in English and ineffective learning strategy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the significant effect of using the Walking Gallery strategy on students' speaking ability in recount text. This research was conducted at SMKN 9 Padang. The researcher took a sample by using a purposive sampling technique with certain considerations and in accordance with the researcher goals, students at grade X kuliner 2 had criteria that matched the research objectives, therefore the researcher chose a sample in class X kuliner 2 with 33 students. They were taught by using the Walking Gallery strategy. The research method was quantitative with a pre-experimental approach. The instrument of the data collection was a speaking test. The group were given a pre-test and post-test and this test was conducted to see whether the used of the Walking Gallery strategy can improve students' speaking ability or not. After the data was collected, then the data was analyzed using the t-test formula. The results of the analysis showed that the t-test (26.3) was higher than the t-table (2.03) with a significant level = 0.05. The result showed that alternative hypothesis (Ha) has been accepted, whereas null hypothesis (H0) has been rejected. This indicates that there was a significant effect of using the Walking Gallery strategy on students' speaking ability in recount text.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the significant differences in improving students' reading comprehension by using the Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy. This research was conducted on class XI IPK students at MAN Dharmasraya. In this study, the researcher only took one class as a sample. The sample consisted of 28 students of class XI IPK and was selected using a saturated sample technique. The material taught by research uses biography texts. This study used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental approach. Research used data collection techniques Pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The data collection instrument was a written test in the form of 10 multiple choices and 5 essays with total of 15 questions. The pre-experimental group was given pre-test and post-test. The final average value obtained from the experimental group was analyzed using the T-test formula with a significant level of α = 0.05. The results of the research conducted show that there is a significant effect of using the Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy in students' reading lessons. The results of research conducted by researcher indicate that there is a significant influence by using the Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy in students' reading lessons. From the results of the data, obtained the average score of the pre-test (1798) and post-test (2313). t-observe (3.315) and t-table (1.705). It supported by the t-test value that was higher than t-table value (3.35>1.705). Therefore, the alternative hypothesis shows that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that there is a significant effect of using the Listen-Read-Discuss (LRD) strategy in improving reading comprehension in class XI IPK MAN Dharmasraya.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between religiosity and happiness in students at SMK Negeri "X" Padang. The variables in this research are religiosity (X) and happiness (Y). The sampling technique in this research used a stratified random sampling technique. The total sample were 182 people. The measuring instruments used in this research are the religiosity scale and happiness scale. The data analysis method used for hypothesis testing in this research is using Pearson product moment (Pearson) correlation which was carried out with the help of IBM SPSS version 21.0, which shows that the correlation coefficient value is r=0.723 with a sig value=0.000, because the value (p) sig 0.000, because the value (p) sig 0.000 <0.01 which means there is a very significant relationship between religiosity and happiness in a positive direction, meaning that the higher the religiosity, the higher the happiness. On the other hand, the lower the religiosity, the lower the happiness of students at SMK Negeri "X" Padang. This means that the research hypothesis is accepted. The effective contribution of the religiosity variable to happiness is 52%.

Abstract

Psychomotor abilities in students' self renewal capacity are still low in competence in practicing MySQL databases so it is estimated that students have problems in completing the final assignment project in object oriented programming courses. This study aims to improve students' psychomotor abilities in completing their final project through the implementation of the use of the PACE model based on project based learning. PACE is a learning model based on constructiveness with phases: Project, Activity, Cooperative Learning and Exercise, this model is suitable to be combined with project based learning to increase students' self renewal capacity in doing programming practice. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. There were 23 students of the Informatics Engineering Education study program as the subject of this research. The results showed that the average score of students' psychomotor skills is 81,2% with very good criteria. Then Self renewal capacity shows a percentage of 71.7% with good criteria. In conclusion, the application of the PACE model based on Project Based Learning in object-oriented programming courses can be an alternative to increase self-renewal capacity in students' psychomotor abilities.
