Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the educational quality of SD Negeri 001 Pulau Derawan based on Education Report data using a SWOT analysis approach as the basis for formulating school quality improvement strategies. The study was motivated by the low literacy and numeracy achievement of students and the suboptimal utilization of Education Report data in data-based school planning. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The data were collected through observation and document analysis of the 2023 Education Report of SD Negeri 001 Pulau Derawan. Data analysis was conducted using SWOT analysis by identifying the school’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats based on educational quality indicators and field conditions. The results showed that the school’s strengths lie in school safety climate, student character, inclusivity climate, and the principal’s instructional leadership. Meanwhile, the main weaknesses include low literacy and numeracy achievement, basic-level learning quality, and limited learning facilities. The opportunities available include the Merdeka Belajar policy, School Operational Assistance (BOS) funding, the Merdeka Mengajar Platform, and local government support. The main threats consist of geographical limitations of the island area, high teacher turnover, and limited internet access. Based on the SWOT analysis, several quality improvement strategies were formulated, focusing on strengthening literacy and numeracy, improving teacher competence, optimizing contextual learning based on local potential, and strengthening collaboration between schools and the community.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of literacy management in improving students’ learning achievement in the subject of Islamic Cultural History (Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam/SKI) at MTs Sabilul Anwar, Tebo Regency, Jambi Province, and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting the development of literacy culture within the school environment. The study employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving the principal, Islamic Cultural History teachers, students, and parents. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that literacy management was implemented through reading habituation programs, literacy-based assignments, library utilization, group discussions, presentations, and the use of supplementary learning resources related to Islamic Cultural History. The literacy culture significantly enhanced students’ understanding of learning materials, strengthened their critical thinking skills, increased learning motivation, and positively influenced their academic achievement. Supporting factors included teachers’ commitment, parental involvement, the availability of library facilities, and access to educational technology. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors consisted of students’ varying reading interests, limited access to reading materials, time constraints, and unequal internet accessibility. The study concludes that literacy culture serves as a strategic instrument for improving the quality of Islamic Cultural History learning and should be continuously strengthened through collaboration among schools, families, and communities. The findings contribute to the development of literacy-based learning strategies in Islamic educational institutions and emphasize the importance of sustainable literacy management in enhancing students’ academic performance.
