A study on the activity of some ethyl acetate subfraction of meniran herbs (Phyllanthus niruri Linn.) on the cutaneous active hypersensitive reaction has been conducted. The subfraction (1,2, and 3) were at the dose of 50 mg/Kg BW and 100 mg/Kg BW dispersed with 1% tween 80: Chicken egg albumin at concentration 25% and 30% were used as control, all of which were given for 10 days. The Hipersensitivity reaction was observed at day 10th. Result Showed that subfraction 1,2, and 3 at doses 50 mg/Kg BW and 100 mg/Kg BW inhibited hypersensitivity, reaction significantly, the onset of blue skin bump were best given by subfraction 3 (dose 100 mg/Kg BW), the diameter of blue skin bump were best given by subfraction 2 (50 mg/Kg BW) and the intensity of the blue skin bump was besy given by subfraction 2 (100 mh/Kg BW). In summary, the ethyl aceble subfraction of meniron herbs (Phyllanthus niruri Linn.) showed an immunostimulan activity

The evaluation of cytotoxic effect on ethanolic extract from the fruit rinds of asam kandis (Garcinia cowa Roxb.) on T47D human breast cancer cells in vitro had been evaluated. The cytotoxic effect was carried out by using MTT assay. Extraction of dried fruit rinds of G. cowa Roxb. was macerated with ethanol 70%. The extract was prepared into 4 concentration groups, 100, 10, 1, and 0,1 Î¼g/ml. Results showed that the IC50 of G. cowa Roxb. ethanolic extract was 19,33 Î¼g/ml Â± 1,15 on breast cancer T47D cells. The percentage of cells viability and concentration were analyzed analyzed by the two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan test. Result showed that the ethanolic extract of G. cowa Roxb gave a significant effect on T47D breast cancer cells viability (P<0.05).

Nitrogen mono oksida (NO) dikenal juga dengan Endothelial Derrivat Relaxing Factors) merupakan molekul sederhana yang berperan dalam regulasi sistem kardiovaskular. Nitrogen mono oksida yang dihasilkan oleh NOS type III didalam endotel akan berdiffusi kedalam sel otot polos pembuluh darah yang akan mengaktifkan enzim guanylate cyclase menyebabkan terjadi relaksasi dari otot polos pembuluh darah. Nitrogen mono oksida yang dihasilkan dari metabolisme obat antiangina menyebabkan vasodilasi pembuluh darah koroner yang mengalami aterosklerosis dan memperbaiki aliran darah koroner jantung. Pada penelitian ini diteliti pengaruh ekstrak gambir terhadap kadar EDRF (Endothelial Derrivat Relaxing Factors)/Nitrogen Mono Oksida (NO) pada keadaan hiperkolesterol. Hiperkolesterol di induksi dengan koktail aterogenik. Koktail atrogenik terdidri dari Lemak sapi : Miyak sawit (1:5) PTU 0,1 %, empedu ayam 2 %. Ekstrak gambir diberikan dengan dosis 10, 20 dan 40 mg/Kg BB selama 2 bulan bersamaan dengan koktail yang diberikan secara oral. Kadar NO ditentukan dengan metoda ELISA Spektrofotometer Ukur Optikal Densiti nya pada Î» 550 nm. Hasil penelitian menunjukan ekstrak gambir dengan dosis 10 dan 20 mg/Kg BB dapat meningkatkan kadar NO, 20 mg/Kg BB merupakan dosis terbaik untuk. Dosis 40 mg/Kg BB tidak dapat meningkatkan NO.

Balutan luka primer dari film yang mengandung kolagen kulit ikan gabus (Channa striata) dapat menciptakan lingkungan luka dengan kelembapan seimbang (moisture balance) dikenal sebagai metode modern dressing, sehingga akan mempercepat fibrinolisis, mempercepat angiogenesis, menurunkan risiko infeksi, mempercepat pembentukan growth factor, mempercepat pembentukan sel aktif. Kolagen mempunyai peranan penting dalam proses penyembuhan luka karena kolagen mempunyai kemampuan dalam hemostasis, interaksi dengan trombosit, interaksi dengan fibronektin dan meningkatkan eksudasi cairan, meningkatkan komponen selular, meningkatkan faktor pertumbuhan dan mendorong proses fibroplasia. Telah dilakukan pembuatan film untuk balutan primer luka bakar yang mengandung kolagen yang diisolasi dari kulit ikan gabus (Channa striana) 1%, dengan bahan tambahan PVA 4%, propilenglikol 5%, Gliserin 10%, dan pengawet nipagin dan nipasol. Hasil evaluasi gel dan film kolagen diperoleh pH gel 5,44, viskosita gel 1,0378 Poise, tebal film 0,7378 mm, berat jenis film 0,6427 g/cm3 dan water uptake film 47, 41 % (w/w). Dari penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan hasil evaluasi gel dan film memenuh syarat, tapi perlu penyempurnaan untuk cara pengeringan film, karena film yang mengandung kolagen tidak dapat dikeringkan pada suhu diatas 40oC karena akan merubah kolagen jadi gelatin.

Gingivitis is a inflamatory mild form of periodontal disease in gingiva. The early stage of gingivitis characterized by the accumulation of plaque, leukocytes, and PMN. Noni (Morinda citrifolia L.) is known to have anti-inflammatory compositions which also affects the activity of leukocytes during inflammation. The research objective was to analyze the clinical effects of mouthwash that contains extracts of noni (Morinda citrifolia L.) on leukocyte levels in the saliva in patients with gingivitis, in order to obtain traditional mouthwash that is economical, readily available, and effective in reducing gingivitis and can be used by the public. Extracts of noni fruit (Morinda citrifolia L.) is given in the form of mouthwashes used for 7 days in a row. Observations conducted on three groups of respondents: group 1 using mouthwash placebo, group 2 using mouthwash noni fruit extract 5%, and group 3 using chlorhexidine 0.1%. The use of mouthwash done in the morning and at night before bed as much as 15 ml for 30 seconds. The results showed a decrease in the number of leukocytes in the group treated with placebo cyst, 5% noni fruit extract, and chlorhexidine 0.1% (p <0.05). Both test preparations equally decreased the number of leukocytes in gingival sulcus in gingivitis patients.

An assay of the active cuteneous antianaphylactic of the ethanolic extract Etlingera elatior (Jack). R. M. Smith on white male mice could be determined by measurement of the pro long of occurrence time, the decreased in diameter and the color intensity of the blue bump formed by using blue evan’s solutian as indicator which was given intravenously. The ethanolic extract were given in three different doses (100, 300, 900 mg per kg body weight). Allergic reaction was induced by giving egg’s albumin as antigen. Increasing the dose caused pro long of occurrence time increasing dose, decreased in diameter and the color intensity of the blue bump. The result was analyzed by one way ANOVA and Kruskal Wallis. Result indicated the ethanolic extract of Etlingera elatior (Jack) R. M. Smith had significant effect for each dose (P<0.05).

The assay was done by giving three different doses (100,300, 900 mg per kg body weight ). Allergic reaction was induced by giving egg’s albumin as antigen. The anti anaphylactic effect was determined by measurement of the pro long of occurrence time, the dereased in diameter and the color intensity of the blue bump formed by using blue evan’s solution as indicator which was given intravenously. Result indicated the ethanolic extract of Cassia alata L. (100, 300, 900 mg per kg body weight ) had significant effect for each dose (p<0.05). The dose of 900 mg per kg body weight showed best effect.

The research of immunomodulatory activity and leucocyte cell counts of white male mice has been done by using red dragon fruit peel (Hylocereus lemairei (Hook.) Britton & Rose) extracts. Animals were divided into 4 groups, which consists of only one group was given a NaCMC supension, 2, 3, and 4 group in extract red dragon fruit peel with a dose of 10 mg/kg BB, 50 mg/kg BB dan 100 mg/kg BB. Extracts are given for 6 days orally. The result of research showed given the extract red dragon fruit peel orally of male mice for 6 days can improve the constants and phagocytosis index, and increasing the dose 100 mg/kg BB. The activity of the red dragon fruit peel extract also increased the counts of cells and the total counts of leukocytes was significantly (P <0,05). A dose of 100 mg/kg BB is the best dose improve the immunomodulatory activity and leukocyte cell counts.

The research of immunomodulatory effect from the mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) leaves ethanol extract with a carbon clearance method and the counting of leukocytes cell amount in male white mice. Has been done the ethanol extract of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) leaves is given to every mouse during six days with a 100 mg/kg BW, 300 mg/kg BW, and 900 mg/kg BW dose. In the seventh day, it has been decided a phagocyte index and the percentage amount of neutrophils, eusinofil, basophile, monocytes and lymphocytes. The result of the research is showing a given ethanol extract of mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) leaves at the 100 mg/kg BW, 300 mg/kg BW, and 900 mg/kg BW dose, it can increase a phagocytes index that is >1and increase the amount of leukocytes cell that the extract has a characteristic of immunostimulatory.

Evaluation about the effect of pirus juice (Cyphomandra betacea Sendtn.) on hematology parameters (red blood cells, reticulocytes, hemoglobin and hematocrit) for male white mice has been done. The juice was administrated orally one times a day during 20 days. The 1th day until the 20th day the animal induction with Chloramphenicol 130 mg / kg orally, followed by the provision of pirus juice with various doses of 0.26 mL and 0.52 mL. The effect was observed on day 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30. The result showed that administration of pirus juice can increase the number of red blood cells, reticulocytes, hemoglobin and hematocrit male white mice at each dose is highly significant (p <0.05). Dose of 0.52 mL of the nicest effects compared with other doses (p <0.05).
