Abstract

This study examines the integration of the Qur'an and Sunnah as foundational sources of Islamic epistemology in addressing the challenges of Society 5.0. Through a qualitative library research approach, the research analyzes primary and secondary sources, including classical and contemporary Islamic texts, to explore the epistemological framework that harmonizes revelation, reason, and empirical knowledge. The findings reveal that the Qur'an, with its emphasis on 'ilm (knowledge) mentioned over 700 times, and the Sunnah, as the practical interpretation of the Qur'an, collectively form a holistic paradigm for scientific and technological development. The study highlights the concept of Tawhidic Science, which integrates spiritual values with modern advancements, offering ethical guidelines for emerging technologies like AI and big data. Additionally, the research demonstrates how Prophetic traditions provide solutions for contemporary issues such as mental health, environmental sustainability, and social justice. The study concludes that the Qur'an and Sunnah serve as dynamic, living traditions (living tradition) capable of guiding Muslim societies through digital transformation while maintaining moral and spiritual integrity. This integrative approach not only counters the materialistic tendencies of modern science but also fosters a balanced civilization rooted in Islamic values.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the dynamics of social life in the development of science and technology (IPTEK) through a descriptive qualitative approach based on library research. The advancement of science and technology cannot be separated from its social context, as technological innovation emerges in response to societal needs, values, and structural transformations. Data were collected through documentation techniques from relevant scholarly sources and analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns and relationships between social change and technological development. The findings reveal that social life serves both as a foundation and a driving force in shaping the direction of scientific and technological innovation. Conversely, technological advancement significantly transforms social interaction patterns, communication systems, and societal structures in contemporary communities. While these transformations enhance efficiency and expand access to information, they also introduce ethical and social challenges, including value shifts, digital inequality, and increasing individualism. Therefore, the development of science and technology should be guided by a humanistic and value-based approach to ensure that innovation strengthens social cohesion and supports sustainable development. This study highlights the importance of integrating digital literacy, ethical awareness, and social responsibility into technological advancement processes in order to maintain a balance between technological progress and the quality of social life.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Qur’anic learning in shaping students’ tolerance character at SMKS Muhammadiyah Berau. The research employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach to explore in depth the processes, meanings, and experiences involved in implementing Qur’anic learning within the framework of Islamic character education. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving school principals, Islamic Education teachers, Qur’anic subject teachers, and students of grades X–XII. Data analysis followed the interactive model of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by triangulation and member checking to ensure validity. The findings indicate that Qur’anic learning contributes significantly to the internalization of tolerance values when conducted contextually, reflectively, and supported by teachers’ exemplary behavior (uswah hasanah). Dialogical approaches, inclusive classroom interactions, and school culture that promotes moderation strengthen students’ attitudes of respect, justice, and social harmony. However, external influences such as social media and environmental factors remain challenges that require adaptive and collaborative educational strategies. This study highlights the importance of integrating faith, knowledge, and moral values in Qur’anic learning to foster inclusive and tolerant student character in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence as predictors of students’ social empathy at SMK Muhammadiyah Berau. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The sample consisted of 50 students selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that emotional intelligence and spiritual intelligence simultaneously had a significant effect on social empathy (Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05) with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.808, indicating that 80.8% of the variance in social empathy is explained by both variables. Partially, emotional intelligence had a positive and significant effect on social empathy (Sig. = 0.009), while spiritual intelligence showed a more dominant influence (Sig. = 0.000; β = 0.615). These findings indicate that students’ social empathy is shaped not only by emotional regulation abilities but also by the internalization of spiritual values. Therefore, integrating emotional and spiritual intelligence development into the learning process is essential in strengthening character education in vocational schools.
