In addition, to deepen the required information, 3 informants were selected. The technique of collecting information through indepth interviews uses interview guides to informants and is then analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that most of the people of Bulukumba had participated well in regional development in East Kalimantan. Even so, it was still found that the Bulukumba community did not participate in development due to various factors, including a lack of public understanding of the importance of participatory development. Abstract

Background: The implementation of teacher certification programs (TCPs) has been a topic of interest in education research. Previous studies have primarily focused on student and teacher outcomes, with limited attention given to teachers' perceptions of TCPs. This study aims to address this gap by exploring the perception of certified interdisciplinary teachers regarding the implementation of a TCP in Indonesia. By understanding teachers' perspectives, this research contributes to the evaluation and improvement of TCPs, ultimately enhancing the quality of education.Methodology: This study adopts a qualitative research design, specifically a multiple case study approach. Five certified senior high school teachers from public schools in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, were selected as participants. Data collection methods included semi-structured interviews and document analysis of the teachers' lesson plans. Thematic analysis was conducted using NVivo 12 software.Findings: The findings of the study reveal two primary emerging themes. Firstly, teachers' motivation and expectations regarding the TCP were explored. Secondly, the study examined the perceived benefits of the program. The teachers reported improvements in pedagogical knowledge, curriculum understanding, content knowledge, lesson planning, and teaching performance. The TCP also enhanced their awareness of students' characteristics and needs, fostering stronger teacher-student relationships. Conclusion: The study highlights the importance of purposeful, continuous, and systematic professional development in enhancing teachers' competencies. It emphasizes the need for sustained professional development and regular evaluation of teachers' practices. The findings provide valuable insights for the organizers of TCPs, contributing to program evaluation and improvement.Originality: This study fills a gap in knowledge by exploring the perception of certified interdisciplinary teachers regarding the implementation of a TCP in Indonesia. It contributes to the limited research on teachers' perspectives of TCPs and emphasizes the significance of teacher perception and motivation in professional development programs

Abstract

Concerns-Based Adoption Model (CBAM) is a framework that can be used to guide the implementation of e-learning in educational contexts. CBAM focuses on the problems individuals have during the implementation process and helps to discover solutions to these difficulties. The objective of this study was to get an overview of EFL teachers' perspectives and practices about implementing e-learning based on the CBAM. The CBAM was employed as a model to grasp the challenges and levels of e-learning adoption among English as Foreign Language (EFL) teachers. For this study, ten EFL teachers who knew how to use e-learning participated in semi-structured interviews to provide qualitative data. The interview transcripts were subjected using the thematic analysis. According to the results of this research, some EFL teachers were early adopters of e-learning, but others have shown considerable rejection. Among the teachers' objections were technical obstacles, a lack of training, and skepticism over the effectiveness of e-learning in increasing students' language skills. The study also revealed that the CBAM was an excellent tool for identifying the issues and degrees of e-learning usage among EFL teachers. The model offers a framework for describing the stages of e-learning adoption, from awareness to regular use, and strategies to assist teachers in their adoption process. This study expands our knowledge of the opinions and experiences of EFL teachers towards implementing e-learning. The findings indicate the need to provide teachers with workshops and training to increase their usage of e-learning and enhance the efficacy of EFL teaching instruction.

Abstract

Background: This conceptual review proposes Literary Flourishing in TESOL as an interdisciplinary framework for humanizing literature-based English language education. This article addresses the continued prevalence of instrumental TESOL paradigms, where literature is frequently relegated to supplementary reading, cultural content, or a means of vocabulary and comprehension practice. The article develops a conceptual model that positions literary engagement as a catalyst for human flourishing and linguistic development, drawing on a range of disciplines including positive psychology, wellbeing education, and narrative theory. Methodology: The proposed PERMA-LIGHT model expands on the PERMA dimensions of wellbeing, which include positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment, by incorporating literary, humanistic, and transformative dimensions such as literary empathy, identity formation, global and intercultural understanding, humanistic growth, and transformative reflection. The article also outlines WOLBEP, or Wellbeing-Oriented Literature-Based EFL Pedagogy, as a pedagogical framework comprising emotional engagement, narrative immersion, reflective meaning-making, dialogic interaction, transformative response, and flourishing reflection. Findings: The review asserts that literature-based TESOL can foster linguistic competence, emotional wellbeing, empathy, identity formation, resilience, intercultural understanding, and reflective agency. The article provides a model for curriculum design, literature-based pedagogy, teacher education, and future research on language education that fosters flourishing. Conclusion: The review concludes that literature-based TESOL should be repositioned from a supplementary language resource to a wellbeing-oriented pedagogy that develops linguistic competence alongside empathy, identity formation, intercultural understanding, and reflective growth. Originality: The originality of this article lies in proposing Literary Flourishing in TESOL and operationalising it through the PERMA-LIGHT model and WOLBEP framework, which integrate wellbeing, literary pedagogy, and transformative learning into a unified conceptual approach.

Abstract

Language plays a central role in political communication, particularly through the use of metaphor, which enables leaders to simplify complex issues and influence public perception. In the digital era, cinematic metaphors drawn from popular films and television series have become increasingly visible in political discourse. This study examines cinematic metaphors in two of President Joko Widodo’s international speeches delivered in 2018. Using a descriptive qualitative design, the analysis applies Conceptual Metaphor Theory and Critical Metaphor Analysis to identify and interpret metaphors derived from Avengers: Infinity War and Game of Thrones. Fourteen cinematic metaphors were identified and categorized into four conceptual mappings: ECONOMIC CONFLICT IS WAR, LEADERS ARE HEROES, ECONOMIC UNCERTAINTY IS NATURAL DISASTER, and INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS ARE A GAME OF POWER. The findings show that these metaphors function not only as linguistic devices but also as rhetorical strategies that construct meaning, highlight global risks, and legitimize Jokowi’s call for cooperation. The study concludes that cinematic metaphors enhance accessibility and emotional resonance in political messaging by connecting global issues with familiar cultural narratives. The originality of this research lies in its focus on cinematic metaphors in Indonesian political speech—an area rarely examined in prior studies—and its integration of cognitive and rhetorical perspectives to explain how popular culture shapes contemporary political discourse.
