Abstract

Purpose – Halal tourism has grown significantly, driven by the increasing global Muslim population and disposable income. However, comprehensive analysis of the research landscape is lacking. This study bridges this gap by conducting a bibliometric analysis of halal tourism research from 2014 to 2024 and examining growth trends, key contributors, and collaborative networks.Methodology – Using Scopus data, 244 documents from 132 sources were analyzed.Findings – Research on halal tourism has grown at an annual rate of 34.24%. Contributions from 645 authors, averaging 3.25 co-authors per document, indicate robust collaboration. Key journals include the Journal of Islamic Marketing, Journal of Environmental Management and Tourism, and Tourism Management Perspectives. Thematic clusters include economic impact, marketing strategies, sustainability, and religious aspects. Indonesia and Malaysia, led by Universitas Airlangga and the University of Malaya, dominate the research output and citation impact. The findings suggest that enhancing visibility and impact requires focusing on high-quality projects, strategic collaboration, and active dissemination.Implications – This study identifies key trends and research gaps, guiding future studies, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. For industry stakeholders, it underscores the importance of targeted marketing and sustainable practices in catering to Muslim travelers. Policymakers should be encouraged to develop standardized halal tourism frameworks, enhance international collaboration, and support research initiatives for sustainable sector growth.Originality – This study offers a unique perspective through a comparative bibliometric analysis of halal tourism research in Indonesia and Malaysia, identifying emerging trends and collaboration networks, while providing new directions for future studies and partnerships.

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to analyze how far the internalization of the Pesantren (Islamic Boarding School) values as social capital has become a strategy for solving economic business development problems in Pesantren. One of the main problems Pesantren faces in developing economic businesses is the low quality of human resources and the governance of these economic institutions. The presence of economic businesses within Pesantren holds significant importance. Aside from ensuring the economic sustainability of the institution, it also serves as a platform for nurturing student entrepreneurship, contributing to the overall economic growth of the community. Using the approach of Pesantren values (called Panca Jiwa or Five Principles), namely sincerity, simplicity, independent, Islamic brotherhood (Ukhuwah Islamiyah), and freedom, is expected to be one way to overcome these problems. This research applies the analytic network process, including field surveys, focus group discussions, and in-depth interviews with four groups of respondents: experts, academics, practitioners, and regulators. Respondents were determined by purposive sampling by making Gontor Islamic Boarding School a research location. The results showed that the values of the five principles are internalized into social capital and become solutions to solving problems, like increasing networks with alumni, cooperation between institutions, and so on. This study offers practical implications, namely enabling the resolution of human resource problems with the principle of Islamic brotherhood, and social implications- the success of the economic development of Pesantren can indirectly improve the economic welfare of the surrounding community.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the model adopted based on Muslim consumer perceptions of taxes through the zakat system. This research uses three stages of comprehensive technical analysis through demographic depiction of respondents based on distribution frequently, then tests the adopted factors using Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) to select and determine the number of factors and related items. In the final stage, data analysis is carried out in the form of the modeling technique using Structure Equations Model (SEM) to test the quality of the models and hypotheses produced. 152 respondents were collected who were sampled in this study, the majority of respondents are 77 Malaysian citizens  and 75  Indonesian residents. At the testing stage of the model through the Structural Equation Model (SEM), based on the results of the formation factors in the test, it can be said that only the knowledge about tax, religious, and service variables have an impact on perception toward through zakat system positively and significantly, but through testing the serviceability of a model results in a determinant coefficient of 0.668, which it was relatively strong to explaining independent variable.

Abstract

Digitalization in microfinance institutions, including Sharia-compliant ones such as Baitul Maal wa Tamwil (BMT), is considered crucial for several reasons, including operational efficiency, increased financial inclusion, and rising demand in the evolving financial ecosystem. As a crucial tool for alleviating poverty and empowering marginalized communities, the integration of digital technology has become a necessity, not an option. This research examines the factors that influence millennials’ use of digital financial technology developed by BMT. This study employed the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) processed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) in SmartPLS with 108 respondents. The sample consisted of millennial- generation Islamic digital BMT users in Indonesia who have at least one experience using it. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling, and data collection was carried out for one month. The results indicated that all hypotheses were accepted. Ease of use significantly affected users' attitudes, as did the usefulness for behavior. This finding implies that if a digital BMT platform is easier to use, it will lead to more positive attitudes among its users. , the more useful a digital BMT platform is, the more positively its users will behave and the more likely they will be to use it in the future.
