Abstract

Chuzhen acupuncture or in English-language publications called “pestle needle” or “Chuzhen acupuncture” is a non-invasive method of acupuncture therapy by massaging along the meridians and pressing on acupuncture points. So Chuzhen therapy is a combination of massage (“tuina”) and acupressure. Chuzhen's therapeutic meridian is called “Hechelu”, located along and parallel to the Du or GV (governing vessel) meridian and the Ren or CV (conception vessel) meridian. The hechelu in the back of the neck used for the treatment of cervical syndrome consists of seven lines, namely one running on the median line according to the GV meridian along the spine, three lines each on the left and on the right running parallel to the GV, spaced about 0.5 inches, 1 and 1.5 inches lateral to the GV, from the level of Naohu point (GV17) at the upper border of the atlas vertebra, to the level of Dazhui point (GV14) at the base of the seventh cervical vertebra (7 cervical vertebra).

Abstract

Background: Homeostasis is a key concept in life survival. Today, researchers are discovering redox homeostasis as the basis of a wide variety of degenerative diseases. Various methods are studied to maintain redox homeostasis, especially by increasing the body's antioxidant defenses, so that they can prevent and treat various modern diseases, one of which is through acupuncture. Methodology: This article is a systematic review of the therapeutic effects of acupuncture on redox homeostasis published in the PubMed database, Researchgate, CNKI, in the last 10 years. Results: The concept of redox homeostasis is identical to that of Yin-Yang homeostasis in TCM (traditional Chinese medicine). It turns out that acupuncture therapy, which has the effect of maintaining and restoring Yin-Yang homeostasis, has also been shown to have an effect on increasing antioxidant power and reducing body oxidants in various pathological conditions. There are no adverse effects from acupuncture therapy. Conclusion: Acupuncture therapy is effective and safe for maintaining and restoring redox homeostasis, especially for its anti-oxidant effect in various redox reward conditions.

Abstract

Background: Kamperfuli or Honeysuckle (Lonicera sp) is a decorative, food and medicinal plant quite widely used by the people. Various researches have been done on its and its bioactive substances’ usefulness for the therapy of various contagious and non-contagious diseases. Methods: This article is a systematic review of scientific research results on Lonicera sp and its bioactive substances published in the database of Researchgate, PubMed, and CNKI, especially within the last 10 years. Results: Chinese Pharmacope listed Honeysuckle in two separate entities as Jinyinhua (Lonicerae Japonicae Flos) and Shanyinhua (Lonicerae Flos) consisting of 5 species from genus Lonicera (L. japonica, L. confusa, L. macrantha, L. hypoglauca, and L. fulvotomentosa) with similar property and indications for heat elimination and detoxification. Various researches have proven its effects as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, anti-endotoxic, antidiabetic, neuroprotective, immunomodulation, etc. The medicinal parts include its flowers, leaves, and stems. Conclusions: The empirical effects of Honeysuckle have been proven scientifically. With its wide spectral pharmacologic effects, Honeysuckle can be used rationally as food, beverage, or natural remedy for health maintenance and help to treat various infectious due to microbes as well as non-infectious metabolic diseases.

Abstract

Background: Tinnitus is a frequently encountered health problem, suffered by about 10-15% of the people. The available treatment methods are variable and not fully satisfactory. Acupuncture is one of the therapy widely studied recently. Methods: This article reviews systematically publications about acupuncture therapy for tinnitus cases cited in the data base of PubMed and CNKI. Results: Tinnitus can be perceived from the aspects of western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. Both aspects have similarity, i.e., that tinnitus is a symptom not a disease, that tinnitus could be caused by either internal or external causes. Studies have shown acupuncture therapy can be combined with and improve the effectiveness of conventional therapy for tinnitus. Conclusion: Effect of acupuncture therapy against neurogenic tinnitus has been reported from systematic review, meta-analysis, and controlled clinical trials. Combination of acupuncture therapy with conventional therapy brings better effectiveness compared to each therapy alone

Background: Hemorrhoid is a common disease and cause discomfort. Aim: To report two chronic hemorrhoid cases successfully treated with natural herbal preparations based on accurate TCM diagnosis. Case: First case, male aged 38 years, second case, female aged 48 years, both suffered from hemorrhoid for more than 10 years. Abstract

Election integrity is a key element in ensuring democratic legitimacy, yet election fraud remains a significant threat to this process. This research aims to evaluate the use of Bayesian statistics in detecting anomalies in vote distributions that may indicate potential election fraud. In the context of elections, whose reliability is often questioned, statistical analysis becomes crucial to ensure transparency and credibility in election results. This study uses national election data collected from various polling stations (TPS), focusing on vote distribution per candidate in each TPS. A Bayesian probabilistic model is applied to analyze the observed vote distribution compared to the expected distribution. By using Bayesian inference, researchers can update the probability distribution based on the obtained data, allowing for more accurate anomaly identification. The analysis results show significant deviations in several TPS, where the observed vote distribution exhibits patterns inconsistent with the expected distribution. These anomalies are suspicious as they may indicate manipulation or errors in the vote counting process. The implications of this research suggest that the Bayesian method can be used to improve election transparency and provide a more reliable tool for detecting fraud. The future application of this technique can help increase public trust in election results and support the integrity of the democratic process. This study also recommends further development of the analytical model to expand the scope of anomaly detection and enhance fraud detection accuracy in larger and more complex elections.
