Abstract

Association of Fruit Flies (Bactrocera spp.) (Diptera: Tephritidae) and Their Parasitoid on Guava (Psidium guajava L.) Cultivated in Bali. The study on the association of fruit flies (Bactrocera spp.) (Diptera: Tephritidae) and their parasitoid on guava (Psidium guajava L.) cultivated in Bali was conduted in order to know the abundance, attacks percentage and the species of parasitoid associated on guava, cultivated in Bali. The sampling was done intentionally by taking attacked fruit in Musi Village, Buleleng Regency; Pelaga Village, Badung Regency; and Tiga Village, Bangli Regency. The results showed that 3 species of fruit flies were found, namely B. carambolae, B. papayae and B. albistrigata. The percentage and number of adult insect emergence in Musi Village were B. papayae (50.87% ; 2772 imago), B. carambolae (35.18% ; 1803 imago) and B. albistrigata (13.94% ; 741 imago). In Pelaga Village B. carambolae (61.31% ; 2864 imago) dominates and B. papayae only 38.69% and 1801 imago. B. carambolae is also found dominant in Tiga Village (59.08% ; 2303 imago) and B. papayae only 40.92% and 1603 imago. Percentage of damage to guava is 24.27% on average. There are three species of parasitoids found that are associated with fruit flies on guava in Bali, namely Fopius arisanus, Diachasmimorpha sp. and Opius sp. The average parasitic rate is 6.76%. The highest parasitic rate is in Musi Village, Buleleng while the lowest is in Tiga Village, Bangli.

Abstract

The diversity of fungi that contaminate rice and corn in the traditional market of Denpasar. Rice and corn are food commodities consumed daily by the public, but the rice and corn has been contaminated by a fungus, during the process of transportation and storage of experience. So it appears the author wishes to examine how big fungus has contaminated rice and corn in the traditional market town of Denpasar. Research conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pathology, from April to June 2016. Research carried out consisted of: (1) isolating fungi that contaminate the rice and corn, and identify microscopy morphological, and (2) determine the diversity index and dominance index, as well prevaliensi fungal contamination. Identify the genera level, using reference books Samson et al., 1981; Pitt dan Hocking, 1997; Barnett dan Hunter, 1998; dan Indrawati et al., 1999. The results showed that the fungus can contaminate both the rice and corn in the market Kereneng, Agung, Badung and Ketapaian were Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus spp. The highest prevalence of fungi that contaminate both the rice and maize are the A. flavus, 73.61 % and 92.96 % respectively. Index of diversity in rice and corn amounting to 0.742 0,302. Index of dominance in rice and maize respectively 0.581 and 0.867. Aflatoxins were found to have not reached the threshold tolerated (20 ppb) is in the rice at 0 ppb, while the largest corn at 2,133 ppb in Kereneng market.

Abstract

Distribution and Adaptability of Fall Army Worm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) Against Host Plants at Several Altitudes in Bali. The armyworm pest (Spodoptera frugiperda J.E. Smith) was first discovered attacking maize plants in Sumatra in 2019.These pests move very quickly from a wide range of altitude and host plant, while in Bali only discovered this pest attack maize plants at an altitude <500 meters above sea level (masl). The purpose of this study was to determine the distribution map of S. frugiperda, to determine the population and host plants in the field and to determine the attack of S. frugiperda at several altitudes in Bali. This study used purposive survey method. Plant sampling was carried out in all regencies of Bali Province by means of diagonal sampling. The size of unit sample was2 x 2 m and the number of plants observed was 20 plants. The results showed that the pest S. frugiperda had spread in the highland up to (> 1000 masl) which attacked maize and sorghum in Bali. The distribution area of the pest are Tabanan, Badung, Gianyar, Klungkung, Karangasem, Bangli, Buleleng, Jembrana and Denpasar. The population of S. frugiperda was found until the highland (> 1000 masl) with a population of host plants is still low and spread at 5 altitude with type host plants found, sweet corn, glutinous corn, corn pipil, local corn and sorghum. he percentage of S. frugiperda attacks at 5 altitudes in Bali is 11.71% to 35.13%.

Abstract

The Influence of Garlic (Allium sativum L.) Extract and Liquid Vermicompost Fertilizer to the Attack of Insect on Kailan (Brassica oleracea var. Alboglabra) Plantation. Kailan plant (Brassica oleracea var. Alboglabra) known as Chinese broccoli is one of the vegetable cabbage (Brassicaceae) family. One of the factors is that reduce quantity and quality of kailan plants are a high of pest attacks. The aim of study is to determine the effect of garlic extract and liquid vermicompost fertilizer on the type and abundance of pest populations, index of diversity, intensity of damage and determine the most effective concentration of garlic (Allium sativum L.) and liquid vermicompost fertilizer. The research design as Randomized Block Design, with two treatment factors: garlic extract and liquid vermicompost fertilizer and level of concentration. Garlic extract was used as treatments, i.e 0g/l; 150g/l; and 300g/l. Liquid vermicompost fertilizer was used as treatments, i.e 0ml/plant; 10ml/plant; 20ml/plant; and 40ml/plant. Each treatment combination consists of 3 repetition so that there are 36 treatment of combination. The results showed that the dominant pests present in kailan plants are Atractomorpha crenulata and Plutella xylostella. The index of diversity in each treatment has a value of H<1 (Low). The treatments showed that as a single treatment has a significant effect. The treatments of 300g/l garlic extract and 40 ml/plant liquid vermicompodt fertilizer was the best concentration which gave on reduce the number of pest populations and intensity of damage also increased plant height and plant fresh weight, but there is no significant effect of interaction between both treatments.
