Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini, adalah untuk menentukan karakteristik koefisien tahanan aliran fluida melintasi tiga silinder persegi tersusun tandem konfigurasi seri dan paralel (benda uji), dan menentukan nilai koefisien tahanan yang optimum melintasi benda uji tersebut. Dalam mencapai tujuan tersebut, maka metode penelitian berupa eksperimental dilakukan pada wind tunnel, untuk mengukur gaya tahanan aliran fluida. Pengukuran gaya tahanan aliran dilakukan dengan forces balance measurement. Benda uji silinder persegi 3 buah dengan ukuran panjang sisi-sisi yang sama 5 cm, dan menggunakan material acrylic dengan ketebalan 2 mm. Ketiga silinder tersebut disusun dalam konfigurasi seri dan paralel. Selanjutnya, masing-masing konfigurasi diberikan 2 model perlakuan jarak, yaitu model I jarak selinder 1 dengan silinder 2 (M) berubah sedangkan jarak silinder 2 dengan silinder 3 (N) tetap 6 cm dan model II M dan N berubah dengan jarak yang sama, kemudian diberikan perlakuan 7 tingkat kecepatan yang sama dari 8 m/s sampai dengan 20 m/s. Penelitian berlangsung pada bilangan Reynolds (Re) dari 9.395 sampai dengan 62.634, atau aliran laminar untuk aliran eksternal. Hasil eksperimen menunjukkan karakteristik koefisien tahanan (Cd) pada konfigurasi seri meningkat bila jarak tiga silinder persegi tersusun tandem diperbesar, sedangkan pada konfigurasi parallel nilai Cd menurun bila jarak diperbesar. Nilai Cd yang diperoleh pada masing-masing model konfigurasi seri dan parallel lebih kecil dibandingkan dengan nilai Cd silinder persegi tunggal.

Abstract

The process of recycling plastic waste is one way of processing plastic waste. Plastic waste in the form of plastic bottles and cups has a high selling value when it is recycled. The Paraikatte Rong waste bank in Makassar City has been in the plastic waste processing business for 5 years. This waste bank only collects and sorts plastic waste due to the unavailability of plastic chopping machines that can help the plastic waste recycling process. Therefore, the Community Service Team of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University, with the implementation of appropriate technology designed and built a plastic chopping machine for the Paraikatte Rong waste bank. The method used is to conduct training on the use and maintenance of a plastic chopping machine. The purpose of this service is for the waste bank to carry out the recycling process optimally and efficiently so as to increase the economic value of plastic waste. The scissor system for chopping plastic is applied to the chopping machine so that the chopping results are smoother. The chopping machine consists of 3 dynamic blades and 2 static blades which can be adjusted to the density of the blades. This machine has a capacity of 100 kg/hour using a 7.5 hp petrol engine. The success of this community service activity can be seen from the increase in public understanding based on survey results where the total level of understanding/very understanding of the benefits of selecting plastic waste has increased from 35% to 52.6%. The operation of the plastic chopping machine has increased from 55% to 80%. The maintenance of the plastic chopping machine has increased from 53% to 87%.

Abstract

The welding method combines two or more pieces of metal by melting the material to be joined. The joining of two or more base metals through melting or without melting the joint area is known as welding technology. Karang Taruna Desa Lanne is a village government program for youth empowerment. Currently, the youth organization has a program that still needs to be improved to increase the productivity of youth organization members. Therefore, the training program to improve welding skills initiated by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University, is expected to positively impact partners. The activity was carried out by providing training material followed by welding practice activities to determine the ability of participants to apply the material provided previously. In addition, the pre-test and post-test questionnaires were given to the participants before and after the training to determine the program's success rate. Based on the quantitative analysis of measurements before training, it was found that 85% did not understand and 15% did not understand how to prepare for welding. After the training, it was found that 65% of the participants understood, 25% understood, and 10% understood very well when preparing for welding. This indicates that the activities carried out have a positive impact on partners.

Abstract

Studi ini menjelaskan inovasi dalam mengurangi eksploitasi material Galian C dan memberikan solusi permasalahan pelaksanaan konstruksi seperti sulitnya mendapatkan sumber material galian C, akses yang sulit ke lokasi pekerjaan, kurangnya air tawar untuk campuran material, kendala cuaca, dan sulitnya menjaga mutu konstruksi. Material Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) diajukan sebagai alternatif untuk pengganti pasangan (lining) di saluran irigasi. Pengujian eksperimental dilakukan di laboratorium dengan menganalisis karakteristik kecepatan aliran akibat perubahan lima kemiringan berbeda. Pengambilan data menggunakan point gauge dan currentmeter. Verifikasi dan validasi data dengan membandingkan antara debit takar dan debit teoritis. Kecepatan rata-rata pada kondisi aliran Q1S0 adalah 46,74 cm/s, Q1S1 sebesar 58,93 cm/s, Q1S2 sebesar 69,52 cm/s, Q1S3 sebesar 81,72 cm/s, dan pada kondisi Q1S4 sebesar 92,60 cm/s. Distribusi kecepatan aliran pada setiap kemiringan memiliki hasil yang berbeda. Distribusi kecepatan di bagian tengah lebih cepat dibandingkan pada bagian tepi saluran flum Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP). Bilangan Froude pada setiap jarak horizontal flum berbanding lurus dengan besarnya nilai kecepatan. Kondisi aliran pada Q1S0 menunjukkan aliran subkritis, kondisi aliran pada Q1S1 menunjukkan peralihan aliran dari subkritis menjadi superkritis. Kondisi aliran pada Q1S2, Q1S3, dan Q1S4 menunjukan kondisi aliran superkritis.
