Abstract

This research was motivated by the ability of Class VII students in listening to fantasy story texts to find intrinsic elements from fairy tales that were read and listened to at MTs Ikhlasiyah Rokan Hilir. The 2013 curriculum includes text-based learning. This means that students are required to be able to produce a text through writing and listening skills. One of the various types of texts is fantasy story text. Fantasy story is a form of imaginary story or author fantasy that does not occur in the real world. This study aims to analyze the listening ability of seventh grade students to find the intrinsic elements of the fairy tales that are heard at MTs Ikhlasiyah from the text of fantasy stories that are read and listened to. This research is a quantitative research. This study uses a saturated sample, that is, all of the population is used as a sample and is also known as a census. All populations were sampled in the study, namely 32 students of class VII MTs Ikhlasiyah Rokan Hilir. The data analysis technique used by the researcher in this study is as follows: to examine the test results. The answer to the objective choice questions is only one correct answer. Each correct answer gets a value of 1 and the number of correct answers is added up and divided by the total number of questions (20), then multiplied by one hundred, then the student's ability to identify the intrinsic element of each individual student is obtained. From the findings of this study, it was concluded that the short story listening skills of class VII students at MTs Ikhlasiyah Rokan Hilir were in the sufficient category, with a percentage of 60.20%. The highest average of students' listening skills based on the intrinsic elements of fantasy story texts is the character/characterization element with an average value of 71.48, and the second highest is the background element with an average value of 70.31. This shows that most of the students' listening skills are in the sufficient or moderate category and the lowest student listening category is found, especially on the intrinsic elements of language style with an average value of 23.44.

Abstract

This quantitative descriptive study aimed to explore the relationship between sleep duration and academic performance among third-year English Language Teaching students at IAIN Palangka Raya. data was collected from 24 voluntary participants. Results indicated that most respondents slept between 11:00 pm and 12:00 am, with an average sleep duration of 5.458 hours. Despite the majority having below the recommended 7 hours of sleep per night, the study found a weak negative correlation (-0.088) between sleep duration and academic performance (GPA). However, the p-value of 0.684 suggested that this correlation was not statistically significant. Discussion highlighted the importance of sleep for cognitive functions and academic success. Although the study contradicted some existing theories, it emphasized the need for further research with larger samples and more specific performance measurements. The findings could guide educational institutions in developing evidence-based interventions to improve students' sleep quality and, potentially, academic performance. this research contributes to the understanding of the complex relationship between sleep and academic achievement, prompting further exploration for a more comprehensive perspective.

Abstract

This article examines community service efforts aimed at strengthening listening skills and expanding vocabulary among students at MTs Integrated Berkah Palangka Raya through an innovative approach using Charlie Puth's song "One Call Away." The activities include the introduction of song lyrics, listening exercises, and writing exercises based on the heard lyrics. The research aims to enhance students' English language comprehension profoundly. The outcomes of these activities are expected to positively contribute to the development of language skills in the educational environment.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berfokus pada peningkatan kemampuan bahasa Inggris siswa di Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Hidayatul Insan, yang mengalami kesulitan dalam penguasaan kosakata. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengembangkan dan menerapkan metode interaktif untuk meningkatkan kosakata dan motivasi belajar siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pelaksanaan kegiatan harian yang mencakup penulisan kosakata, mendengarkan, dan diskusi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa siswa aktif terlibat dalam pembelajaran, terjadi peningkatan kepercayaan diri, dan kemajuan dalam kemampuan berbicara serta menulis bahasa Inggris. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pembelajaran interaktif dapat menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan dan efektif. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah perlunya penerapan strategi pengajaran yang inovatif dalam konteks pendidikan Madrasah Aliyah untuk menjawab tantangan globalisasi.

Abstract

This study aims to compare four types of authentic assessment in an educational context: project assessment, portfolio assessment, written assessment, and performance assessment. The research method used is library research. The research findings show that authentic assessment is effective in promoting deep concept understanding and application of knowledge in real situations. Project assessment provides students with opportunities to integrate skills and knowledge in tasks relevant to the real world. Portfolio assessment allows students to reflect on their development holistically through a collection of work. Simulation assessments give students the experience of applying knowledge in a structured context. Case study assessments develop critical thinking skills in complex situations. In conclusion, educators need to consider learning objectives and student characteristics in choosing the appropriate type of authentic assessment. This research provides practical guidance for educators in designing effective assessments that motivate students. The results of this study encourage further discussion and research on the development of authentic assessment methods in education.

Abstract

This study analyzes the textbook "Basic English for Tourism" based on Tomlinson's criteria and Littlejohn's Three Levels of Analysis. The findings show that the textbook fulfills several important criteria for effective language learning, such as providing relevant and practical materials, improving language confidence and fluency, and incorporating various learning methods. The book offers a variety of activities, including dialogs, text analysis, writing tasks and grammar lessons, which suit different learning styles and encourage interactive and communicative language use. Although the absence of pictures may be considered a limitation, the content and overall approach of this textbook make a significant contribution in improving English language skills for students in the tourism industry. Therefore, this study provides valuable insights for practitioners and policy makers in the field of English language education, emphasizing the importance of selecting textbooks that match the practical needs and learning objectives of the students.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Katharine Kolcaba awalnya menulis kenyamanan dengan pasien Alzheimer dan demensia.  Kolcaba telah menulis beberapa artikel tentang cakupan keperawatan terkait teorinya. Ketika kolcaba mengembangkan teorinya, ia menggunakan penalaran logis, kolcaba menggunakan kerangka yang sudah ada sebelumnya untuk mensintesis atau mengidentifikasi jenis kenyamanan dan berdasar pengalaman, beliau melakukan pengembangan teori keperawatan untuk mengembangkan teori kenyamanan dan praktik, sebuah visi untuk perawatan dan riset kesehatan holistik. Ia juga memulai konsep analisis istilah, “comfort”. Katherine kolcaba mengumpulkan definisi, “kenyamanan” dari berbagai disiplin ilmu. Sejak itulah Katherine Kolcaba melandaskan kembali bahwa dalam pelayanan kesehatan harus ada suatu kenyamanan hingga ia membuat teori yang disebut “Comfort Theory and Practice: a Vision for Holistic Health Care And Research”. Tujuan: untuk memahami teori middle range Katharine kolcaba tentang kenyamanan dan mengaplikasikan dalam asuhan keperawatan. Metode: Pada penelitian ini menggunakan jenis pendekatan penelitian dengan Studi Kepustakaan (Library Research). Studi Kepustakaan adalah mempelajari berbagai buku referensi serta hasil penelitian sebelumnya yang sejenis dan berguna untuk mendapatkan landasan teori mengenai masalah yang akan diteliti menurut Sarwono (dalam Yeni 2024). Pada penelitian ini menggunakan buku, jurnal, makalah serta biografi tentang Katharine Kolcaba. Hasil Penelitian: Setelah dilakukan asuhan keperawatan nyeri sudah berkurang dan pasien dapat mengontrol nyeri. Kesimpulan: Dalam bidang penelitian, kolcaba menciptakan suatu instrumen penelitian dalam melakukan pengukuran level kenyamanan pada seorang pasien sebagai suatu tolak ukur capaian dengan menggunakan skala pengukuran kenyamanan pada lingkup rumah sakit dan lingkungan.
