Abstract

Abstract

AbstractBackground: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major concern in the health sector of Indonesia, with more than one million patients. During the COVID-19 pandemic, DM patients have a risk of poor quality of life due to the high potential of fatality from COVID-19 infection or access barriers to health care and nutrition. This study aimed to analyze the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the quality of life of patients with diabetes. Methods: This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used was total sampling; that is, all members of the population were used as research samples. This research involved 95 patients with DM from 127 total population in Puskesmas Cilongok I. Data were collected through interviews with a guided questionnaire. The data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses. Results: The results of this study indicate that factors related to the quality of life of patients with DM have a pandemic economic impact (p = 0.011 and OR = 0.341), and factors that affect the quality of life of patients with DM have a pandemic economic impact (OR = 0.326). Factors related to poor diabetes patients include losting work, decreased partial or total income, and increased daily expenditure. Conclusion: We suggest that health agencies can help patients with DM restore their quality of life after being hardly affected by the pandemic in the economic aspect by designing a sustainable program for patients with DM.

Abstract

Background Adolescents are usually thought of having a healthy condition, so study about their physical health, especially that related to lung condition is very limited. Indicator used for assessing lung condition is oxygen saturation. The study aimed to analyze the association of nutritional impact to low oxygen saturation in adolescent girls in Central Java, Indonesia. Methods This study used a cross-sectional design with 378 adolescent girls as respondents. To find which nutrition intake related to oxygen saturation, data of each nutrition intake and SpO2 level were analyzed using linear regression. Data of body mass index, hemoglobin level and upper arm circumference were also included in the analysis since previous research showed their correlation with oxygen saturation. Results The prevalence of low SpO2 in adolescent is 8.5%. The nutrition intake which statistically significant related to oxygen saturation were fat (p = 0.007; CI = -0.021, -0.003) and vitamin D (p = 0.037; CI = 0.005, 0.172). Conclusions Adolescent should decrease fat consumption, increase vitamin D consumption, and need to increase arm circumference by consuming more protein and living healthy lifestyle to avoid infectious diseases.

Abstract

Background: Health is a substantial factor in creating distinguished human resources. University, as a prominent institution in society, has a role in creating distinguished human resources that could be realized with the campus policy concerned with health issues. Universitas Jenderal Soedirman (UNSOED) has not made a specific health Promoting University (HPU) policy or a healthy campus program. The importance of health problem surveillance in the case of the academic community –and its determinant–and its result could be fundamental, either in the decision-making or policy planning related to the creation of a healthy campus at UNSOED. The study intends to analyze the correlation between health literacy and the attitude of HPU towards healthy behavior among the academic community at UNSOED.Method: The study uses a quantitative method with a cross-sectional. The data acquisition was carried out by online sampling from August until September 2021. A total of 238 respondents were involved: lecturers, academic staff, and students from 12 faculties at UNSOED. The data respondents were analyzed with chi-square. Results: The majority of respondents were not infected with a chronic disease, were immune from COVID-19 and had no allergies either. Most of the respondents have moderate health literacy, supporting the policy about HPU, but most still lack consciousness to apply healthy behavior on campus. The correlation between health literacy and healthy behavior in the impacted group could only be found in the UNSOED lecturer (p-value 0.034), instead of the other groups. There is no impacted relation between the attitude and the healthy behavior of all respondent group. It is necessary to develop a health promotion university program that follows the academic community's needs.

Abstract

Background: Bullying is a problem that is currently increasingly rampant in the education sector, so it requires serious handling. Two out of three children and adolescents in Indonesia have experienced violence throughout their lives. A school environment dominated by violence will harm students, such as feelings of isolation and depression and weakening learning motivation. Aim: This study aims to identify the level of knowledge and attitudes of students and bullying behavior in Elementary Schools. Method: This study uses a cross-sectional approach with a cluster sampling technique. The research location is in six public elementary schools from six sub-districts in the Purwokerto Timur District with a sample size of 211 students. Data collection was conducted in July - August 2024 with univariate and bivariate analysis. Result: The majority of students have good knowledge about bullying (79.5%), and good attitudes about bullying (61.9%). As many as 47.2% of students have been bullied at school, and 52.8% of students admitted to having been victims of bullying by their friends. The majority of bullies are male (54%), and the majority of victims of bullying are female (68%). This study had no significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards bullying behavior. Promotive and preventive efforts in schools must be continuously intensified to create a safe learning environment and prevent bullying among students.
