Abstract

The Asahan Regency is home to numerous ethnic and religious groups. This treasure of religious diversity continues to be a source of discord among the populace. Using a communication model based on Islamic education, the Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB) in Asahan Regency aims to maintain harmony among individuals. This study seeks to examine the religious communication model of FKUB Asahan District, its results in fostering inter-religious harmony among the people of Asahan District, and its impact on fostering inter-religious harmony in Asahan District. According to the findings of the study, the communication model of the Asahan Regency Religious Harmony Forum can be categorized into two situations: the normal situation, which involves socializing and approaching community leaders, religious leaders, and local government officials, and the conflict situation, which involves mediating between conflicting parties. This communication model can prevent human-to-human conflict or quickly resolve existing conflicts, although it does not guarantee the end of human-to-human conflict. This communication model is hindered by a lack of institutional funds to maximize communication, a lack of human resources, and a lack of public time to educate on religious harmony.

Abstract

The concept of welfare remains a subject of ongoing debate, and the prevailing frameworks for assessing welfare need to be adapted to align with Islamic principles. This study delves into the concept of falah, a state of well-being rooted in Islamic values, to develop a 'falah welfare index' and analyze it within a Muslim community in Langkat Regency, Indonesia. Additionally, the study explores the variables that influence falah welfare. Employing a mixed-methods approach with an exploratory sequential design, this research qualitatively constructs a falah welfare index and quantitatively measures both community welfare levels and the impact of predictor variables on the criterion variable of falah welfare. A key finding of this study is the establishment of a falah welfare index comprising three categories: fakir (extreme poverty), miskin (poor), and falah (well-being). Moreover, the results reveal a positive influence of religiosity, Islamic work ethics, Islamic consumption ethics, Islamic investment patterns, and Islamic wealth management on falah welfare. The implications of this research offer a novel approach to measuring welfare within Muslim societies and solidify the concept of falah as a cornerstone of welfare evaluation from an Islamic economic perspective.==============================================================================================================ABSTRAK – Pengukuran Kesejahteraan Muslim: Analisis Indeks Berbasis Falah.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze problems and formulate a sharia marketing strategy for Islamic banking in Indonesia, integrating the emotional (religious-spiritual) and commercial (rational-economic) markets based on the perspective of maqasid al-sharia. The background of the study indicates that although the Islamic banking industry has experienced significant growth, its market share remains relatively low due to the suboptimal integration of sharia compliance, modern marketing values, and digital transformation. This study uses a mixed methods approach supported by the Analytic Network Process (ANP) to determine the most relevant and beneficial marketing strategy priorities. The results indicate that an effective sharia marketing strategy must combine the emotional dimensions of trust, blessings, and sharia compliance with the commercial dimensions of efficiency, service quality, product innovation, and competitiveness. The main findings revealed that digital marketing and social media optimization are the highest priority strategies, followed by partnerships in the commercial market segment, utilization of sharia fintech, optimization of contracts in sharia banking fiqh, partnerships in the emotional market segment, and community-based or people-based marketing programs. This integration of emotional and commercial markets confirms that Sharia marketing is not simply a business instrument, but rather a muamalah practice oriented toward the realization of the maqasid al-Shariah, specifically the protection of religion (hifz al-din) and the protection of property (hifz al-mal). Therefore, marketing activities are not exploitative, but rather promote public or customer trust, financial inclusion, and the ethical and competitive sustainability of Sharia banking.

Abstract

The concept of wasaṭiyyah in Islam is a central issue relevant in responding to contemporary religious extremism phenomena such as radicalism, intolerance, and religion-based violence. Muḥammad ‘Abduh’s Tafsīr al-Manār, continued by Rasyīd Riḍā, presents rational-reformist thinking that emphasizes balance, justice, and openness, so that it can be positioned as a theoretical and practical framework for understanding Islamic moderation. This study aims to examine the idea of wasaṭiyyah in Tafsīr al-Manār and outline its contribution to addressing contemporary religious extremism. The method used is a qualitative approach with a literature study approach through content analysis of the tafsir text and related literature. The results of this study indicate that the concept of wasaṭiyyah in Tafsīr al-Manār is built on three foundations: a rational understanding of the revealed text while taking into account the social context, an emphasis on social justice and human brotherhood, and a rejection of both excessive attitudes (ifrāṭ) and neglect (tafrīṭ) in religion. The relevance of this concept is evident in its ability to correct the ideology of takfir, encourage interfaith dialogue, strengthen national commitment, and affirm Islam as a religion that aligns with universal humanitarian values. This study contributes by offering a new perspective on interpretation-based counter-extremism, which makes wasaṭiyyah not only a theological idea, but also a strategic, practical paradigm in affirming Islamic moderation amidst global challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of gharimin in Surah At-Taubah verse 60 according to the Qur’anic Exegesis of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and to examine its relevance to the phenomenon of online lending from the perspective of hifẓ al-māl (the protection of wealth). This study employed a qualitative approach using library research. Primary data were obtained from Al-Qur’an dan Tafsirnya, published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, while secondary data were derived from Qur’anic exegesis books, scholarly books, journal articles, regulations, and relevant literature on zakat, maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, and online lending. The data were analyzed using content analysis through a thematic exegesis approach. The findings indicate that gharimin refers to individuals who are burdened by debt and unable to repay it for reasons recognized by Islamic law. The Ministry of Religious Affairs’ interpretation identifies gharimin as eligible recipients of zakat who should be assisted in alleviating economic hardship and preserving their dignity. This concept is relevant to individuals trapped in online lending due to urgent needs, high interest rates and penalties, and limited financial literacy. Within the framework of hifẓ al-māl, zakat functions not only as a means of debt relief but also as a preventive instrument through financial literacy, economic empowerment, social solidarity, and the development of Islamic financing. Therefore, the interpretation of the verse concerning gharimin may serve as a normative foundation for protecting society from the economic consequences of digital debt and for promoting justice, public welfare, and economic resilience.
