Abstract

This research was conducted to optimize changes in Stripper column sizing to variations in solvent and natural gas flow rate in the Acid Gas Removal Unit (AGRU) at PT. X. The aim of this research is to determine the optimal size of the Stripper column which can increase the efficiency of the acid gas removal process in natural gas streams. The methodology used includes experimental analysis and simulation using process modeling software. Several different types of solvents and variations in natural gas flow rates were tested to see their effect on the performance of the Stripper column. Based on the results of the hydraulic profile of the tray in the Stripper column with the MDEA solvent variation, it can be concluded that the tray operation is in a safe and efficient condition. The data shows that the % Jet Flood value is within the maximum range of up to 47.96% of all flow rate variations, which is far below the maximum specification limit of 100%. In the optimization results of the Sulfolane+MDEA variation, results were obtained where the operating point of the tray was at a balance point where no weeping occurred, because the optimized results were marked by the hydraulic graph plot point being above the weeping point line, so that no weeping occurred on the tray and no flooding occurred. because the maximum jet flooding % value of the three flow rate variations on the tray is 30.05%. This result is far from the maximum limit, which is 100%, so the column works in non-flooding conditions. The research results show that the optimal Stripper column size depends on the type of solvent used and the natural gas flow rate.

Abstract

LPG plant optimization modeling is important to improve overall plant performance. This can be done in various ways, such as increasing efficiency, productivity, and reducing costs. This research aims to obtain the optimum operating design scheme parameters to obtain the best LPG plant unit performance in terms of purity, product yield, energy consumption, and operational economics. Efficiency can be increased by improving production processes and reducing energy consumption. Productivity can be increased by increasing production capacity. In this research, the analysis method used involves a comparison between the LPG Plant unit design before and after optimization with field operational data, as well as data from literature studies. The factors that influence this difference include the value of equipment prices, the number of equipment, excessive utility consumption, and total sales of LPG production. Based on economic calculations, Scheme 1 has a Total Capital Investment (TCI) of $ 3,317,566.18, annual costs of $ 219,008.7346, and income of $ 125,666,446 (compared to scheme 2, which is $ 131,909,910.33), and LPG processing costs of $0.0199 per kg. By looking at the comparison of the performance and economic value of the two schemes, it can be concluded that scheme 1 is a superior concept for LPG production units because it has been considered from various aspects.

Abstract

Abstract

The design industry has undergone significant transformations with the advent of Artificial Intelligence (AI), influencing the creative process in various ways. Despite its growing integration, the extent to which AI enhances creativity in design remains under-explored. This study aims to investigate the application of AI tools in the creative processes of designers, with a focus on identifying their impact on innovation, efficiency, and problem-solving. The research employs a qualitative case study approach, analyzing multiple design projects that incorporate AI tools, including generative design software and AI-driven prototyping systems. Data was collected through interviews with designers and observations of their workflows, supplemented by project outcome analyses. The results indicate that AI tools provide designers with new perspectives, automate repetitive tasks, and accelerate ideation, leading to increased productivity and innovative solutions. However, challenges such as the need for proper training and concerns about AI replacing human creativity were also noted. The study concludes that while AI enhances the creative process, it should be seen as a complement to human ingenuity rather than a replacement. Designers who effectively integrate AI tools into their workflows experience enhanced creativity, though a balance must be maintained between machine-driven processes and human judgment.
