Nusalaut District possesses significant marine, historical, and socio-cultural tourism potential; however, its utilization remains suboptimal due to the absence of official Tourism Awareness Groups (Pokdarwis). This community service program aimed to facilitate the establishment and institutional capacity building of Pokdarwis across seven traditional villages (negeri) to promote Community-Based Tourism (CBT). The implementation employed participatory-collaborative and capacity-building approaches, encompassing socialization, board elections, drafting of Articles of Association (AD/ART), destination training, and tourism potential mapping. The outcomes indicated the successful formation of seven legally recognized Pokdarwis, which obtained official administrative legality from the Tourism Office of Central Maluku Regency. Furthermore, the initiative generated comprehensive tourism potential profiles for each village. Overall, the program can be categorized as successful and well-targeted, evidenced by high community participation and active support from customary village governments. Additionally, this activity provided valuable experience in strengthening synergistic collaboration among universities, local government, and communities in regionally-based empowerment efforts.
