Abstract

Community Service (PkM) is carried out by the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Methodist Indonesia by providing counselling the effect of Narcotics and Drug abuse. PkM was held on 8-11 June 2022 at Lumban Pea Timur, Balige,Toba District, North Sumatera. The method used is to provide counselling/lectures and provide motivation, then followed by question and answer to obtain results and solutions as a form of solving problems and obstacles faced. The results of PkM with counselling are very effective considering that there are still many people who do not get information about Narcotics and Drug abuse. With this counselling, the public becomes aware of the Narcotics and Drugs abuse problem. Thus, it is hoped that the people of Lumban Pea Timur will aware and know how to prevent their community from Narcotics and drug abuse.

Abstract

Background. Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a form of histological abnormality of the enlarged prostate gland where there is a proliferation of stromal cells in the prostate. Clinical manifestations of BPH disease can include disruption of urine flow (micturition), difficulty urinating and the desire to urinate but the urine is weak. BPH is a problem commonly suffered by men over the age of 60 years. This study aims to get a description of the characteristics of BPH patients in Lubuk Pakam General Hospital on the Deli Serdang Regency for period of 2016-2017. Methods. This research is a retrospective descriptive study with a cross-sectional design in Lubuk Pakam General Hospital on the Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra, from January 2016 to December 2017. Using the total sampling technique obtained 95 samples based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data obtained from medical records. Results. The most age-based BPH patients were the 61-70 year age group, 41 people (43.2%). The prostate volume in most BPH patients are in the prostate volume group > 60.00-80.00 ml which are 29 people (30.5%). BPH sufferers based on the most symptoms are complaints are difficult urination of 36 people (37.9%). Summary. Based on the results of research in the medical record Installation of Lubuk Pakam General Hospital on the Deli Serdang Regency for the period of January 2017-December 2018, it can be concluded that the most age group of BPH patients is the age group 61-70 years. And the main clinical symptoms s most often found are difficult urinating.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease in the form of metabolic disorders, which is characterized by blood glucose levels (BGL) that exceed normal limits and are accompanied by disorders of carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolism, as a result of abnormalities in insulin secretion. Diabetics are known to have slow wound healing. Moringa oleifera leaves contain flavonoid compounds, which can reduce glucose absorption. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of Moringa leaf infusion on blood sugar levels, glucose tolerance, cholesterol levels, body weight, and speed of wound healing in mice model. Method  : A total of 25 male mice aged 2-3 months weighing 25-30 grams were divided into 5 experimental groups namely: negative control, positive control, 10% Moringa infusion, 20% infusion, 30% infusion. The negative control was not given any treatment. Positive controls were induced by high fat diet and PTU and given sucrose for 3 weeks. The infusion group was the same as the positive control but at the end of each week, 10%, 20%, and 30% Moringa leaf infusion were given successively. Moringa leaf intervention was given for 3 weeks after feed induction and observations were made at that range. The wound was made after feeding induction on the back 1 cm long. Result  : Moringa leaf infusion had a significant effect on reducing the levels of each variable, namely a dose of 10% on body weight, a dose of 30% on KGD, 20% on KGD with glucose loading, 20% on cholesterol, and 20% on wound closure, which proved based on the results of statistical tests. Conclusion: Moringa leaf infusion can reduce blood sugar levels, blood sugar levels by loading glucose, cholesterol levels, body weight, and accelerate wound healing in mice induced by sucrose, high fat diet, and PTU.

Abstract

Background : Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is an infectious diseasecaused by the dengue virus transmitted through the bite of the Aedesaegypti mosquito. This disease remains a global health issue, including inIndonesia. One of the main complications of DHF is thrombocytopeniaand hemoconcentration, which can lead to serious conditions such ashypovolemic shock. Objective: The objective of this study is to determinethe correlation between platelet count and hematocrit levels in DHFpatients at Dr. Pirngadi General Hospital, Medan City, in 2022-2023.Research Method: This research is observational with a cross-sectionaldesign. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The data usedin this study are secondary data obtained from medical records, involvingthe collection of information from existing patient medical records at Dr.Pirngadi General Hospital, Medan. Data presentation includes univariateand bivariate analysis using the Spearman correlation test. Results: Theresults of this study, with a total of 280 samples, show a significantnegative correlation between platelet count and hematocrit levels in DHFpatients, both in males (rs calculated (0.619) > rs table (0.350); 0.05) andfemales (rs calculated (0.296) > rs table (0.169); 0.05). Conclusion:There is a significant negative correlation between platelet count andhematocrit levels in DHF patients hospitalized at Dr. Pirngadi GeneralHospital, Medan City

Abstract

Background : Uncontrolled diabetes causes chronic complications, bothmicroangiopathies and angiopathies. Diabetic ulcers are one of thechronic complications of diabetes, caused by macroangiopathy resulting invascular insufficiency and neuropathy. Ulcers are a concern which willlead to a level of disability that will prolong the patient's treatment period.Factors that affect the length of care in diabetic ulcer patients aremetabolic control (poor blood sugar, hba1c, albumin, hemoglobin, LDL,LDL), infection control (elevated leukocytes), vascular control (increasedd-dimer coagulation). The length of treatment of diabetic ulcer patientswill burden both the patient and the state. Research: To analyze therelationship of predictor factors (hemoglobin, leukocytes, platelets, LDL,HbA1c, D-dimer, Albumin) to the length of treatment of diabetic ulcerpatients at Dr. Pirngadi Hospital Medan City. Methods: This study is ananalytic observational study with a research design using a cross-sectionalstudy. Results: Based on the results of the proportion test with the Chi-square correlation test there is a relationship between hemoglobin (p-value of 0.008), the relationship between leukocytes (p-value of 0.010), therelationship between platelets (p-value of 0.010), the relationship betweenLDL (p-value of 0.047), the relationship between HbA1C (p-value of0.046), the relationship between D-dimer (p-value of 0.025), therelationship between albumin (p-value of 0.041) with the length oftreatment of diabetic ulcer patients. In multivariate results, the factor thatmost influences the length of treatment is leukocytes. Conclusion:Hemoglobin, leukocyte, platelet, LDL, HbA1c, D-dimer, Albumin levelsare factors associated with the length of treatment of diabetic ulcerpatients at Rsud Dr. Pirngadi Medan City in 2022-2023 and leukocytesare the most influential factor. Keywords: diabetes, diabetic ulcer, length of stay
