Abstract

Background The role of Ki-67 and HER-2 /neu protein as a prognostic and predictive factor in invasive ductal breast carcinoma of no special type has been studied since the last decade. The aim of this study was to evaluate correlation between expression of Ki-67 and HER-2/neu with histopathological grade of invasive carcinoma of no special type breast. Methods This study was a cross-sectional study, which performed on paraffin embedded tissue of patients with invasive breast carcinoma of no special type who were diagnosed between Juli 2012 to September 2013. Histopathological grade was investigated by hematoxillin eosin and immunohistochemistry stain were made for Ki-67 and HER2/neu. Then the correlation between Ki-67 and HER-2/neu overexpression with histopathological grade tested by Spearman Correlation. Results We found 60 samples, mean age was 55 years old (range 28-71 years). According to histopathological grade of the tumor, we found cases of low grade were 29 cases (48.3%) and high grade were 31 cases (51.7%). There was significant positive correlation between Ki-67 overexpression and high histopathological grade of tumor r=0.650; p=0.000). There was significant correlation between HER-2/neu overexpression and high histopatho-logical grade of tumor (r=0.311; p=0.016). Conclusion It was concluded that the expression of Ki-67 and HER-2/neu have significant correlation with histopathological grade of invasive ductal breast carcinoma of no special type. Key words: HER-2/neu, histopathological grade, invasive ductal breast carcinoma no special type, Ki-67.

Abstract

Meningioma is one of the tumor in the brains that is extra-axial, which means it is not originated from  the brain cell. We report a case of a 60-year-old female, that was admitted to the emergency room (ER) of a secondary referral hospital, due to sudden weakness of upper and lower right extremities since 2 days prior. She had been experiencing a feeling of fullness in the left frontal head since the previous 3 months, along with some headache. She admitted to have had diabetes for the last 2 years. She also reported family history of brain tumor. Neurosurgeon has diagnosed the tumor as a meningioma with differential diagnose a metastatic tumor. A non contrast CT scan has found a meningioma. After being diagnosed, the patient underwent a craniotomy to remove the tumor. The histopathology finding confirmed the diagnosis of meningioma (WHO Grade I). Meningiomas are mostly hyperattenuating to surrounding brain parenchyma, while roughly one fourth are isodense. Overt calcification as in this case is usually seen in psammomatous and meningothelial. Well collaboration between clinician, radiologist, and histopathologist is the key to ensure patient’s recovery and safety

Abstract

Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (ASPS) is a rare sarcoma, this sarcoma accours around 0,2 – 0,9% of all soft tissue sarcomas. This tumour can occur at any age, but the peak incidence is in the age range of 15 – 35 years, rarely under the age of 5 years and after the age of 50 years. In adults, ASPS most often occur in deep soft tissues in the lower extremites, especially the anterior part of the thighs and buttocks. But in children and infants these tumours often occur in the area of the head and neck, especially the tongue and eyes. Tumours that occur in the head and neck are usually smaller in size may be due to earlier detection. Diagnostic of ASPS can be through CT – Scan/MRI examination, Fnab Citology, Histopathology, and Immunophenotype.

Abstract

Sudden death due to cardiac arrest and respiratory failure frequently occurs in the community, including in public places and houses of worship. Basic Life Support (BLS) is a simple yet crucial initial action to preserve life before advanced medical care is available. This community service activity was part of the HKBP Gotilon Festival 2025, organized in collaboration between the HKBP Church Jl. Uskup Agung Sugiopranoto Medan, Medical Faculty of Universitas Methodist Indonesia, Medical Faculty of Universitas HKBP Nommensen, and supported by the Indonesian Cardiovascular Specialist Association (PERKI) as experts. The program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of the congregation of the HKBP Church in performing BLS. The methods included health education on the basic concepts of BLS, demonstration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and hands-on practice using mannequins. The results showed an increase in participants understanding of emergency response steps as well as their ability to perform CPR correctly. This activity is expected to raise community awareness of the importance of BLS skills and to equip them with the capability to provide initial assistance in emergency situations.

Abstract

Flood disasters often cause various health problems such as skin diseases, diarrhea, acute respiratory infections, and leptospirosis due to environmental contamination and limited access to health services. This community service activity aimed to provide free medical treatment for flood-affected communities as an effort to prevent disease transmission and improve public health status. The activity was carried out through health examinations, medication distribution, health education, and environmental sanitation counseling. The target participants were residents affected by flooding in the designated area. The results showed that most patients experienced skin infections, diarrhea, fever, and respiratory tract infections. Health education increased community awareness regarding clean and healthy living behavior after floods. Free medical services were proven to be effective in reducing complaints and preventing more serious complications among the affected population.

Abstract

Abstract Background: cholesterol is a fatty substance circulating in the blood, yellowish in color and in the form of wax, which is produced by the liver and is needed by the body. High cholesterol increases a person's risk of developing narrowing of the arteries or atherosclerosis, blood clots in certain parts of the body, strokes and heart attacks. One plant that is thought to have antihypercholesterol activity is Malacca leaf (Phyllanthus emblica L.). Malacca leaf extract works as an inhibitor of the enzyme 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl coenzyme A reductase (HMG-CoAR) so that cholesterol synthesis decreases. Objective: to determine the effect of Malacca leaf extract (Phyllanthus emblica L.) on total cholesterol levels in mice (Mus musculus) females with a diet high in saturated fat. Methods: this study is experimental laboratory using the design method of Randomized control group pretest & post test design. Samples in this study using mice (Mus musculus) female sex. Mice are divided into 4 groups, namely P0, P1, P2 and P3. Group P0 was given standard feed, Group P1 was given standard feed and quail egg yolk, group P2 was given standard feed, quail egg yolk and Malacca leaf extract, group P3 was given standard feed, quail egg yolk and orlistat drug. Results: the average percentage of increase in total cholesterol levels in the group given Malacca leaf extract has a percentage of increase in total cholesterol levels is smaller than the other groups of 3%. Conclusion: the administration of Malacca Leaf Extract can prevent the increase in total cholesterol levels in mice.
