Malondialdehyde (MDA) is the end product of fat peroxidation due to the breakdown of fatty acid chains which are compounds that toxic to cells. Fat peroxidation is caused by body fat bound to free radicals such as hydroxyl radicals, superoxide anion radicals, and hydrogen peroxide, which are compounds or atoms that have unpaired electrons in their outer orbitals so that they are very reactive to cells or surrounding cell components including lipids. As a result of the lipid peroxidation reaction which is continuous which can cause various diseases and accelerate the aging process, because malondialdehyde causes cell damage. The aging process is the weakening of cells and organs as a whole starting from adulthood slowly and progressing quickly after the age of 50 years, marked by the body begins to ache and wrinkled skin. Naturally, the aging process will occur in every human being, but the process is different, some are fast (the process of premature aging) and some are slow (ageless). Although the aging process occurs for several reasons, free radicals such as melondialdehyde also contribute to accelerating the aging process. Efforts to slow down premature aging due to free radicals, namely antioxidants. As an active ingredient, antioxidants are used to protect skin from oxidation damage and prevent premature aging.

Community Service (PkM) is carried out by the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Methodist Indonesia by providing counselling the effect of HIV Infections and AIDS. PkM was held on 8-11 June 2022 at Lumban Pea Timur, Balige,Toba District, North Sumatera. The method used is to provide counselling/lectures and provide motivation, then followed by question and answer to obtain results and solutions as a form of problem’s solving and obstacles faced. The results of PkM with counselling are very effective considering that there are still many people who do not get information about HIV infections and AIDS. With this counselling, the public becomes aware of the HIV_AIDS Infections problem. Thus, it is hoped that the people of Lumban Pea Timur will aware and know how to prevent their community from HIV-AIDS Infections.

Aging is a physiological process characterized by progressive loss of physiological integrity that leads to impaired function and increased susceptibility to death. Oxidative stress is one of the factors that cause aging due to an imbalance between the amount of oxidants and antioxidants. In oxidative stress condition, malondialdehyde levels increase. D-galactose can induce aging in various organ systems. D-galactose induces oxidative stress in various organs through increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and advanced glycation endproducts. In oxidative stress condition, sirtuin1 (Sirt1) produces ribose O-acetyl-ADP which, later, is reduced into ribose ADP. Both of them have a protective effect against oxidative stress. Consumption of antioxidants may prevent aging. Gambir contains health-promoting ingredients such as catechins. This study aims to determine the effect of gambier leaves catechin extract on serum malondialdehyde levels and the expression of sirtuin 1 gene in female mice aging model induced by d-galactose. This is an in vivo experiment with post test-only control group study. The samples were 28 female mice which were divided into 4 groups namely P0, P1, P2, and P3. Each group was injected 150 mg/kgBW d-galactose intraperitoneally. P1, P2, and P3 were treated orally with 100, 200, and 400 mg/kgBW gambir leaves catechin extract, respectively. Statistical test use descriftive analisys. There were significant differences in serum MDA levels in all groups (p=0.002) and there were significant differences between the P0 and P2 groups (p=0.010) and between the P0 and P3 groups (p=0.010). Sirtuin1 gene relative expressions decresead in P1 (0,49), P2 (0,74), and P3 (0,43) as compared to P0 (1.00). Conclusion. Gambir leaves catechin extract reduces serum malondialdehyde levels in aging mouse models induced by d-galactose with an optimal dose of 200mg/kgBW. and cannot reduce the relative expression of Sirt1

Community Service was held 14-16 April 2023 in Ajijulu Timur Village, Tigapanah District, Karo Regency, North Sumatra. The counseling method used is by giving lectures, discussions and providing motivation. Question and answer discussions were carried out with the aim of gaining understanding, understanding and solutions as a form of solving problems and constraints faced by the local community. The results of this community service counseling and outreach are very effective considering that there are still many people who do not receive information about the benefits of immunization. With this counseling, the community becomes more aware of the importance of basic immunization. It is hoped that the people of Ajijulu will become more responsive and know how important this basic immunization is for infants, children and adolescents.

Community Service (PKM) conducted by the Faculty of Medicine at the Indonesian Methodist University provides counseling on the benefits of basic immunization. Community Service was held on July 28 2023 at the Labuhan Deli Correctional Institution, Medan Labuhan District, Medan City, North Sumatra. Lectures, discussions and motivation are used as orientation methods. A question and answer discussion was held with the aim of gaining insight and understanding from the employees and residents of the Labuhan Deli correctional institution. The result of this outreach is that employees and residents of the Labuhan Deli Penitentiary have knowledge about Diabetes Mellitus, its symptoms, risk factors, and the complications it causes so that employees and the community can carry out prevention as early as possible.

Gadgets are modern technology developed with various applications and can provide various media news, social networks, and even entertainment. With the development of technology, gadgets have become commonplace among young people, so the younger generation needs to use gadgets every day. The time of gadget use, duration, and high levels of gadget use at night are one of the factors that influence sleep quality in teenagers. This counseling aims to provide information to help investigate the impact of gadget use on sleep quality among young adults at the Congregational Tabernacle Pentecostal Church Jl. Panci, Medan City.

Sudden death due to cardiac arrest and respiratory failure frequently occurs in the community, including in public places and houses of worship. Basic Life Support (BLS) is a simple yet crucial initial action to preserve life before advanced medical care is available. This community service activity was part of the HKBP Gotilon Festival 2025, organized in collaboration between the HKBP Church Jl. Uskup Agung Sugiopranoto Medan, Medical Faculty of Universitas Methodist Indonesia, Medical Faculty of Universitas HKBP Nommensen, and supported by the Indonesian Cardiovascular Specialist Association (PERKI) as experts. The program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of the congregation of the HKBP Church in performing BLS. The methods included health education on the basic concepts of BLS, demonstration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and hands-on practice using mannequins. The results showed an increase in participants understanding of emergency response steps as well as their ability to perform CPR correctly. This activity is expected to raise community awareness of the importance of BLS skills and to equip them with the capability to provide initial assistance in emergency situations.
