Abstract

Mathematical literacy skills are important in the 21st century. Mathematical literacy skills are an indicator of being able to solve a problem in text or everyday life. This study aims to describe and illustrate the mathematical literacy skills in one of the high schools in Bandung based on mathematical ability and AKM. The researcher uses a qualitative descriptive research type. The instruments used are in the form of tests and interviews. The subjects of this research are students of class XI SMA in Bandung. Data obtained by giving students questions about mathematical literacy skills with trigonometric material.  The results of the study show that there are three groupings for mathematical literacy ability, low, medium and high mathematical literacy ability. The results of this study almost all students belong to the high group, with a percentage of 50%, 36% including the medium group and 14% in the low category.

Abstract

Proportional reasoning is closely related to everyday life. Conditions in schools show that there are still many students who still have difficulty in mastering proportional reasoning. Many studies have been conducted to overcome this. The purpose of this study is to provide an overview of research related to environmental mathematics learning interventions in developing students' proportional reasoning abilities. The method used is a systematic literature review (SLR) using the PRISMA protocol. The databases used are Google Scholar, Scopus, and ERIC in the 2018-2023 year of publication. There are several interventions carried out and discussed in the research results. Research related to interventions in the mathematics learning environment in developing students' proportional reasoning abilities has fluctuated in the 2018-2023 range, most were carried out in 2018 as many as 14 studies, most were carried out in junior high school demonstrations, namely 23 studies, the most widely used research method was quantitative method, namely 20 studies, Indonesia being the country that conducted the most research, namely 14 studies, and sample sizes in the range of 30-99 samples were the most widely used samples.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of mathematics self-efficacy instruments in terms of validity, reliability, undimensionality, ability distribution, and suitability of student responses. Data were obtained by distributing mathematics self-efficacy instruments consisting of 20 statements to 45 seventh-grade students of a private junior high school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, at the 2022/2023 school year selected through purposive random sampling technique. The data were analyzed using Rasch model with the help of the Ministep application. The results of the analysis showed that the mathematics self-efficacy instrument used was declared valid, with an outfit Z standardized (outfit ZSTD) value of -0.16 for respondents and 0.20 for items, and could be used to measure students' mathematics self-efficacy level with a reliability level reaching a score of 0.54 or in the medium category. The results of the distribution of item abilities show that most students admit to having the fighting power to solve problems that occur, especially in learning mathematics. From the analysis of the suitability of student responses, 18 statements show the suitability between the level of self-efficacy and the responses given by students. While two other statements did not show suitability. Therefore, teachers or other academics can use the self-efficacy questionnaire that has been prepared by researchers because it has met the four criteria for testing instruments.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the types of mistakes made by students in solving problems based on Newman's theory on statistical material. The type of research used is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The subjects of this study consisted of 9 Level 1 Mathematics Education students at Suryakancana University. The data collection technique in this study was a written test, with a test instrument consisting of 3 statistical questions in the form of descriptions. The percentage of types of errors made by students at the stage of reading the problem was found to be 20%, comprehension the problem was 20%, transformation was 20%, processing skills was 20%, and encoding was 20%. The types of errors in this study were analyzed using Newman's theory, namely 1) Errors in Reading Problems, 2) Errors in Understanding Problems, 3) Errors in Transformation, 4) Errors in Process Skills, and 5) Errors in Writing Final Answers. Of the 9 students it was found that the most common types of mistakes made by students in solving statistical problems were errors at the stage of understanding the problem and encoding errors.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively examine the quality of mathematics learning interest instruments in terms of validity, reliability, undimensionality, distribution of abilities, and suitability of student responses. So, this research uses a survey-based quantitative descriptive method. Data collection was done by distributing a learning interest questionnaire consisting of 25 statements to mathematics education students who were in the 4th semester at one of the universities in Semarang. The results showed that the learning interest instrument used was valid and reliable so that the instrument could be used to measure student learning interest. The distribution of the items also shows that most students admit to having a high interest in learning statistics courses. Analysis of the suitability of student responses shows that 21 statements describe the suitability between learning interests and responses given by students. Meanwhile, 4 other statements showed discrepancies.
