Abstract

AbstrakPhase change material (PCM) merupakan material yang dapat menyimpan energi termal secara panas laten. Penggunaan PCM berfungsi meningkatkan kapasitas penyimpanan panas serta mendapatkan unjuk kerja yang terbaik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik PCM menggunakan simulasi 3D dengan metode pendekatan enthalphy-porosity berupa waktu pelelehan, pola pelehan, heat transfer, dan panas kumulatif. Simulasi dilakukan pada laju aliran 1 lpm dan heat flux konstan pada 1.000 W/m2. Jumlah PCM di dalam tangki penyimpan panas SWH divariasikan menjadi 6, 9 dan 12 kapsul PCM. Hasil simulasi SWH dengan jumlah 12 kapsul memiliki panas kumulatif yang paling besar. SWH dengan jumlah 6 kapsul mencapai fraksi cair 1 setelah 93,7 menit dengan panas kumulatif 701,74 kJ, sedangkan pada 9 kapsul fraksi cair 1 setelah 89,1 menit dengan panas kumulatif 1.322,12 kJ, dan pada 12 PCM fraksi cair 1 setelah 87,5 menit dengan panas kumulatif 1.744,62 kJ.Kata Kunci: Studi numerik, Pelelehan, Phase Change Materials, Solar Water HeaterAbstractPhase change material (PCM) is a material that can store thermal energy latently. The use of PCM serves to increase the heat storage capacity and get the best performance. This study aims to determine the characteristics of PCM using 3D simulation with the enthalphy-porosity approach in the form of melting time, melting pattern, heat transfer, and combined heat. The simulation was carried out at a flow rate of 1 lpm and a constant heat flux of 1.000 W/m2. The amount of PCM in the SWH heat storage tank was varied to 6, 9 and 12 PCM capsules. SWH simulation results with a total of 12 capsules have the greatest cumulative heat. SWH with 6 capsules reached liquid fraction 1 after 93,7 minutes with a cumulative heat of 701,74 kJ, whereas in 9 capsules liquid fraction 1 after 89,1 minutes with a cumulative heat of 1.322,12 kJ, and in 12 PCM liquid fraction 1 after 87,5 minutes with a cumulative heat of 1.744,62 kJ.Keywords: Numerical study, Melting, Phase Change Materials, Solar Water Heater

Abstract

The post-harvest handling process for rice aims to reduce the water content of rice grain, one of which is using the drying method. To maintain the quality of grain, evaluation and corrections are needed in handling so that losses can be minimized. Mechanical drying methods such as freeze drying are an effective vacuum solution, because they combine freeze drying and vacuum drying which have advantages in efficiency and quality of results. This vacuum dryer prototype has a maximum capacity of 10 kg of rice, the refrigerant used is R-134a, and the vacuum pressure that can be achieved is 5 bar below atmospheric pressure. This research will use variations in mass of 1 kg, 5 kg, and 10 kg, then the mass of 10 kg will be varied with refrigerant pressure of 14 bar, 15 bar, and 16 bar. The results of this test are that for the mass variation of 1 kg the air content that can be removed is 89% for 12.1 hours, for the mass of 5 kg the air content that can be removed is 85% for 15.3 hours, and for the mass of 10 kg the air content that can be removed is 76% for 17.5 hours. For variations in refrigerant pressure at a pressure of 16 bar 78% of the air content is lost for 19.8 hours, 15 bar 76% of the air content is lost for 19 hours, and 14 bar 62% of the air content is lost for 18 hours

Abstract

This study presents a thermo-structural finite element analysis of a single-cylinder diesel piston using ANSYS, comparing three aluminum alloys: Al2618-T61, Al4032-T6, and Al6061-T6. A coupled simulation approach was applied, where steady-state thermal results were imported into static structural analysis. Realistic boundary conditions, including applied combustion pressure, symmetry constraints, and cylindrical pin supports, were implemented based on Yanmar TF55 engine geometry. Results indicate that Al6061-T6 experienced the highest deformation and stress, nearing its yield limit at elevated temperatures. In contrast, Al2618-T61 and Al4032-T6 maintained structural integrity, with lower stress and elastic deformation within safe limits. Al4032 demonstrated superior dimensional stability, while Al2618 exhibited better strength under thermal load. These findings validate the importance of coupled thermal-structural analysis and material selection in piston design. The proposed framework offers reliable guidance for developing more durable, thermally resilient pistons for modern diesel engines.

Abstract

Pengelolaan sampah organik rumah tangga di Kecamatan Mandau masih menjadi masalah lingkungan. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, dibuat mesin pencacah sampah organik vertikal yang sederhana, efisien, dan cocok untuk rumah tangga. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi identifikasi kebutuhan masyarakat, perancangan mesin, pembuatan dan uji coba alat, serta sosialisasi dan pelatihan kepada warga setempat. Mesin mampu mencacah sampah dengan kapasitas ±10 kg/jam untuk pengomposan. Sosialisasi dan pelatihan diikuti oleh 40 peserta dengan tingkat kepuasan yang tinggi dan minat berkelanjutan dalam pemanfaatan mesin. Mesin memiliki desain kompak, mudah digunakan, dan hemat energi, namun masih perlu pengembangan terutama untuk mencacah sampah keras seperti tongkol jagung dan batang pisang. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat mendorong masyarakat dalam mengelola sampah secara mandiri dan mendukung upaya pelestarian lingkungan melalui pengurangan limbah organik di tingkat rumah tangga.

Abstract

Produktivitas merupakan aspek penting dalam industri manufaktur karena berkaitan langsung dengan efisiensi dan pengurangan pemborosan di lantai produksi[1]. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengusulkan penerapan metode 5S pada departemen cetak dan potong busa di PT XYZ. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi langsung dan wawancara untuk memperoleh data, yang selanjutnya dinilai menggunakan pendekatan 5S dan Keselamatan dan Kesehatan Kerja (K3). Penilaian ini bertujuan untuk menilai sejauh mana penerapan 5S atau standar lain yang lebih tinggi dari 5S di area kerja departemen Cetak dan Potong Busa PT. XYZ. Hasil penilaian kemudian diolah menggunakan diagram batang (bar chart) untuk menentukan prioritas perbaikan. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa tiga ketidakpatuhan terbesar berada pada elemen Seiton (28 %), Shitsuke (22 %), dan Seiketsu (21 %). Sehingga ketiga elemen 5S tersebut yang akan menjadi prioritas perbaikan. Berdasarkan analisis tersebut, diusulkan perbaikan yang mencakup penyusunan SOP, penyediaan peralatan pendukung, dan visualisasi area kerja sesuai dengan kebutuhan dari lantai produksi PT. XYZ.

Abstract

Previous research has not analyzed the helium temperature distribution in the RDE steam generator shell. This study aims to fill that gap by analyzing these thermal characteristics with empirical calculations and Ansys Fluent simulations. The validity of the RDE steam generator design is reaffirmed, having been successfully analyzed from both the water-flow perspective in previous research and the helium-side perspective in the present study. The analytical methods used herein showed strong consistency, with empirical and numerical simulation results differing by less than 10% across all parameters. Although the calculated shell height of 5.73 m exceeds the RDE design's 4.97 m, the overall design's validity is confirmed.
