Abstract

Tropical fruits are rich in nutrients and phytochemicals that benefit our health. As source of antioxidant, regular consumption of fruits will be useful in avoiding many degenerative diseases particularly caused by free radicals. The good effects of antioxidants vary from repairing tissue damages in respiratory system, excretory system as well as reproductive system. Ascorbic acid is one potent antioxidant that has been recorded for history. Known as Vitamin C, its concentration in fruits has been a primary consideration for people to choose what kind of fruit they are going to consume. This experiment’s result exhibited different levels of ascorbic acid in some topical fruits. Average concentration of ascorbic acid from the highest to lowest was obtained in orange, guava, apple, papaya, tamarind and mango with their contents of 96,8; 49,86; 49,57; 48,4 and 41,06 mg/100g, respectively. This result would be a baseline in setting the best fruit combination to obtain maximum effects of antioxidant.

Abstract

Tujuan: Pembelajaran adalah suatu proses dasar pendidikan, dimana kegiatan pembelajaran merupakan suatu interaksi antara guru dan siswa, baik interaksi secara langsung maupun tidak langsung dengan menggunakan sumber belajar dan media ajar. Sumber belajar dapat dibedakan menjadi sumber belajar yang telah tersedia, dan sumber belajar yang dikembangkan atau didesain. Salah satu sumber belajar yang dapat dikembangkan yaitu berupa hasil penelitian. Hasil penelitian pengukuran pertumbuhan batang dan daun tumbuhan tomat merah (Lycopersicum esculentum, L. var commune) dan tomat ungu (Lycopersicum esculentum, L. var indigo rose) dapat dipakai sebagai sumber belajar Biologi SMA Kelas XII materi pertumbuhan dan perkembangan tumbuhan. Metode: Sebelum menganalisis hasil penelitian sebagai potensi sumber belajar, terlebih dahulu dilakukan penelitian eksperimen, yaitu menanam tomat merah dan tomat ungu, kemudian dibandingkan pertumbuhan organ vegetatifnya. Untuk dapat dijadikan sebagai sumber belajar, hasil penelitian dianalisis dari segi kejelasan potensi, kejelasan tujuan, sasaran, informasi yang diungkap, pedoman eksplorasi dan perolehan yang diharapkan. Hasil: Pada penelitian pertumbuhan tomat merah dan tomat ungu ditemukan mekanisme proses pertumbuhan yang terjadi pada organ vegetatif batang dan daun, sehingga telah sesuai dengan materi Biologi kelas XII SMA. Kesimpulan: Potensi sumber belajar biologi pada tomat merah dan tomat ungu ditemukan proses pertumbuhan, yaitu terjadinya penambahan massa dan volume sel pada organ vegetatif batang dan daun.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hasil belajar kognitif dan literasi sains mahasiswa, kemudian menganalisis hubungan antara hasil belajar kognitif dengan kemampuan literasi sains pada materi metabolisme tumbuhan. Jumlah mahasiswa yang dijadikan sebagai sampel sebanyak 25 orang telah mengambil mata kuliah fisiologi tumbuhan dan penelitian dilakukan di program studi pendidikan biologi Universitas Ahmad Dahlan Yogyakarta. Instrumen pengumpulan data untuk menilai hasil belajar ranah kognitif dan literasi sains dengan menggunakan tes soal esai. Analisis data indikator kognitif dan literasi sains menggunakan nilai rata-rata, sedangkan analisis korelasi menggunakan analisis regresi untuk menguji hubungan antara dua variabel. Materi tes soal berupa ruang lingkup metabolisme tumbuhan, jalur biosintesis fitokimia dan keterkaitan antara materi metabolisme dengan aspek kesehatan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata kognitif sebesar 71,5 dan nilai rata-rata literasi sains 55,31. Berdasarkan analisis statistik terhadap F-hitung, t-hitung dan faktor signifikansi, terlihat bahwa hubungan antara kognitif terhadap literasi sains tidak signifikan, hanya sebesar 2%. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah hasil belajar kognitif dan literasi sains berdiri sendiri, tidak ada hubungan signifikan yang saling mempengaruhi antar keduanya.

Abstract

Pelatihan penguasaan materi sains dengan pendekatan STEAM dan strategi Claim Evidence Reasoning (CER) merupakan upaya untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran sains di jenjang PAUD. Akan tetapi kenyataannya masih banyak guru yang memiliki keterbatasan pengetahuan dalam menerapkan STEAM dan CER secara tepat dalam pembelajaran anak usia dini. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan pemahaman guru PAUD dalam mengintegrasikan pendekatan STEAM dan CER dalam menyampaikan materi sains. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan secara luring dan daring menggunakan ceramah, diskusi, PBL, dan praktik. Kegiatan pelatihan termin 1 dilakukan pada Jumat – Sabtu, 20 – 21 Desember 2024 dan termin 2 direncanakan pada Hari Jumat - Sabtu, 16 - 17 Mei 2025. Setiap kegiatan dilakukan dengan durasi 400 menit. Seluruh kegiatan PkM dilakukan secara Blended, pada pelatihan termin 1 guru dari sekolah TK Nyai Ahmad datang secara offline dan guru di TK Suan Santi School hadir secara online. Selama kegiatan ini dibantu oleh 3 orang mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi dan PG PAUD dengan peran sebagai co-trainer dan pemateri. Dalam kegiatan ini, tim pengusul bekerja sama dengan Suan Santi School dalam melakukan koordinasi dan kolaborasi. Luaran kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah peningkatan keberdayaan mitra, yaitu (1) meningkatkan pengetahuan pembelajaran STEAM dengan 3D dan (2) meningkatkan keterampilan mengembangkan media 3D dalam pembelajaran STEAM  (3) publikasi di jurnal nasional sinta 4 di Jurnal Abdiraja (4) artikel di media massa online Pikiran Rakyat, (5) video kegiatan yang diunggah, (6) publikasi di media sosial YouTube, dan (7) Artikel publikasi pada Seminar Nasional PPM UAD (SNiEMAS), (8) naskah AI.

Abstract

Physics is a complex science discipline that intertwined with other disciplines (e.g. chemistry, life sciences, and mathematics), making it challenging for other learners to learn. To cope, educators developed strategies tailored to the needs of learners and their context. This article conducts a comprehensive systematic literature review of research articles available in Google Scholar that focuses on the concept of innovative strategies in teaching physics. Guided by the PRISMA model, 119 articles were identified, and of these, 31 articles were deemed relevant to the study. The result shows that the most used method in developing teaching strategies in physics is quasi-experimental followed by research and development. Result shows that physics education strategies are the most explored topic followed by physics laboratory innovations. Moreover, the recently published articles can be classified into two themes: non-digital teaching strategy and technology-aided teaching strategy. Outcomes of these developed strategies have shown improved learning among students and the development/enhancement of skills necessary in the 21st century such as problem-solving, analytical thinking, visualization, and social skills. Thus, this shows that the innovation of methodology-oriented new teaching strategies to address challenges in learning physics is crucial for improving conceptual understanding among learners.

Abstract

Education has challenges in preparing students with the skills needed in the 21st Century, namely 4C. This ability can be developed with the STEAM approach, which can be implemented from the PAUD level by linking the real world to practical activities in the classroom. Teachers are facilitators in providing play activities, so they need a comprehensive understanding of STEAM. This study aims to see the understanding of teachers at the PAUD level in mastering the STEAM concept both theoretically and practically. This study uses case study research to gain an in-depth understanding of the 4Cs in STEAM Learning based on the teacher's perspective in integrating 21st Century skills. Four teachers participated as key informants with the criteria of alumni from the PGPAUD Study Program before 2000, working for more than 3 years in PAUD institutions, and participating in STEAM-related training. Data collection used research instruments of interviews, observations, and documentation, and was analyzed with thematic analysis using five themes. The study results showed diversity in understanding the STEAM approach to developing 4C skills, but all agreed that using loose parts and projects was easier to integrate. The study's findings found a discourse on the terminology of learning models and approaches. This study has implications for teacher professional development with the hope of increasing pedagogical literacy as a basis for learning.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is a person's ability to think and behave scientifically, apply scientific knowledge, and make decisions in solving problems in everyday life. Biology students are expected to be able to develop scientific literacy. One of them is in the material of plant metabolism. Understanding the concept of plant metabolism will help students in implementing the concept of biological science in everyday life. This is because biology is a branch of natural science that has the potential and makes a major contribution to solving global problems, such as food, health, social, energy, economic, environmental, and technology. This study aims to see the level of science literacy of biology students on plant metabolism material, which is one of the basic materials for modern biology learning and research in the 21st century. This type of research is descriptive quantitative with a survey method, with respondents of undergraduate students of the Ahmad Dahlan University Biology Education Study Program. The test instruments used were the Scientific Inquiry Literacy Test (SILT) and the Multidimensional Scientific Literacy Test (MSLT). Science Literacy (SL) questions have seven indicators. The question material used in the test instrument is knowledge of photosynthesis, cellular respiration, phytochemical biosynthesis pathways, and implementation of plant metabolism concepts in the fields of health and pharmacology. The findings result showed a significant increase in the seven levels of scientific literacy indicators, where the average post-test score was always higher than the pre-test. Most students were included in the conceptual group. The conclusion of the study was that the fairly high scientific literacy scores at the seven levels indicate that students have understood and internalized the concepts and contents of plant metabolism materials, are able to read, interpret, and analyze data, and know the role and application of plant metabolism processes in the development of the world of health and pharmacology, so it can be said that during the learning process there has been an increase in the science literacy of biology students.
