Abstract

Problems that occur in children with mental retardation are weakness or inability in children accompanied by limited ability to fulfill independence. Support and acceptance from each family member will provide energy and confidence in mentally retarded children to make more efforts to improve every ability they have. Based on data obtained from the Social Service of West Sumatra Province (2020) there were 10,390 people with mental retardation. The purpose of the study was to determine the factors related to the independence of mentally retarded children at SLBN 1 Padang in 2024. The type of research is descriptive analytical with a cross sectional study design carried out at SLBN 1 Padang from Januari to April 2024. The population in this study were parents who cared for mentally retarded children at SLB N 1 Padang totaling 70 parents. The data is processed by editing, entry, coding and cleaning steps. Univariate analysis with frequency distribution and bivariate analysis with Chi Square statistical test with 95% confidence level. The results showed that 52.5% of children with mental retardation with less independence, 37.5% with poor knowledge, 56.3% with poor attitudes, 55.0% with poor family support. There is a significant relationship between attitude and children's independence (p-value = 0.000), between family support and children's independence (p-value = 0.048), and there is no relationship between parental knowledge and children's independence. (p-value = 0.083 ). Someone with a high attitude, knowledge, and family support will be more successful in dealing with and overcoming the problem compared to someone who receives a low attitude, knowledge, and family support. It is hoped that teachers and families will be able to provide examples of independent behavior that can be applied by students, both at home and at school.

Abstract

: Disaster is an event or series of events that threatens and disrupts people's lives and livelihoods caused both by natural factors and/or non-natural factors as well as human factors resulting in human casualties, environmental damage, loss of property and psychological impacts (Law No. 24 , 2007). The psychological impact is affected by the occurrence of disasters in various regions in Indonesia, ranging from natural, artificial, to social disasters which claim many victims. The victims of the disaster needed help, and not only physical medical assistance but also mental health support. So that this will cause material losses, the victims of natural disasters will also be overcome by deep sadness due to the loss of family or relatives, shock, to trauma which can lead to mental disorders. Efforts made to deal with post-disaster trauma are physical treatment and support in the form of mentoring from community. A week to four weeks later, Community need to carry out environmental monitoring and evaluation and other threats. Based on the above problems, it is necessary to have community service to be able to cooperate between various parties in preparing for the mental health treatment of disaster victims. The purpose of the service is for community to understand the handling of mental health for disaster victims. The service will be held in May 2023. The service participants are the community. The results of the dedication showed that more than 80% of the participants were able to know how to deal with the mental health of disaster victims..

Abstract

Hypertension is a condition when blood pressure is at 130/80 mmHg or more. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates 30% of the world's population. Based on Basic Health Research (Riskesdas 2018) the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia is 34.1%. This has increased compared to the prevalence of hypertension in the 2013 Riskesdas of 25.8%. Hypertension is divided into two types, namely primary and secondary hypertension. Primary hypertension tends to develop gradually over years and eventually gets worse if not treated. If hypertension occurs for years without treatment or efforts to control it, the sufferer can experience various complications of hypertension. which is dangerous. Management of hypertension can be done pharmacologically, namely by using anti-hypertension drugs (Ode, 2012). Another way that is best for controlling hypertension is by controlling diet. The Winshiel Survey which was carried out for 2 days at the Singgalang Lubuk Buaya Housing Complex, Padang City, found that the most common disease was hypertension. This is due to people's habits of consuming high-fat, fried foods. offal and have unhealthy lifestyles such as smoking habits. Based on the problems above, it is necessary to have community service to be able to cooperate between various parties in preventing hypertension. The aim of this community service is so that hypertension sufferers can understand diet and prevent hypertension. The service was carried out for hypertension sufferers in September 2022. The results of the service showed that 87 of participants could explain the meaning of hypertension. 91% of participants could explain hypertension diet. 87% could explain the management of hypertension diet, 91% could explain the principles of diet for hypertension sufferers. 91% of participants could explain foods that should be avoided by hypertension sufferers
