Abstract

Ground water has a very close relationship, when in rainwater reaches the surface of the earth, some will enter the ground (infiltration) to be come part of ground water (groundwater) while absorbed by the ground will be come a surface run off (run off). Unima campus area has 270 hectare of land, the exictence of flat to steep topography, various vegetation and land management for campus buildings on unima very much allows different infiltrasions in various locations. This study aims to analyze the infiltration capacity of four fields and compare the infiltration capacity of the four fields using exploratory methods (eksploratory research) this research is also referred to as a very basic eksploratorion study, measurements are carried out using the horton formula and processed in microsoft excel applications. The results showed that the four lands with a lot infiltration capacity of 16,8 cm/hour with medium classifiction. Sloping land less trees infiltration capacity 34,8 cm/hour with a rather fast classification. Flat land many trees infiltration capacity of 14,4 cm/hour the clasification is rather slow. Flat land less trees infiltration capacity is rather slow. Flat land less trees infiltration capacity is 8,4 cm/hour slow classification. Of the four lands can be compared to land that has high infiltration found in sloping locations with less trees and the lowest infiltration on flat land with less trees.

Abstract

Research on soil temperature in mangrove forest is a part of the mangrove ecosystem microclimate research. Studieson microclimate variables interaction, including soil temperature is important and interesting because it is associatedwith ecosystem and environmental changes, and the biota living in it. This study developed a mathematical modelingof soil temperatures and solar illumination in mangrove forest and the surrounding environment. Mathematicalmodeling function was constructed using data measured on three transects which different in ecosystem condition. The results showed that the mathematical modeling parameters produced the parameters of solar illumination andsoil temperatures that were difference for the three transects. Time lag of soil temperature on solar illumination wasalso diference in the three transects due to the difference of penetration of sun radiation and soil inundation by seawater. These parameters also showed the differences between the soil temperature in mangrove with the soiltemperature in terrestrial forest as studied by the former researcher. Our research demonstrated the charachteristicof soil temperature in mangrove, that was not merely controlled by sun radiation, but also it was contribute by thesea water and other factors.[How to Cite: Medellu C, Soemarno, Marsoedi and S Berhimpon. 2012. Abstract

Natural phenomena around form a religious experience in students. The variety of experiences and perceptions that are formed in the cognitive structure can be integrated with formal learning in the classroom in order to strengthen the context-concept relationship or improve individual misconceptions. The purpose of this research is to explore the concept and scientific process of the phenomenon of waving palm trees or coconut trees that swing when blown by the wind. This research uses qualitative and quantitative approaches. The research was carried out in the physics department of FMIPA Unima. The results showed that the involvement of mentors can build open communication between students in groups and between student mentors and the target group. Cooperation and democratic behavior can be seen when students carry out exploration activities well, so that this learning can realize learning activities to explore objects or contexts, concepts and scientific processes of waving palm phenomena.

Abstract

This study describes the results of exploratory learning about local wisdom, namely making ceramics. The purpose of this study was to 1) find out the concepts and physics processes in the manufacture of ceramics 2) to know the learning process of higher order thinking in exploring the physics concepts in the ceramic making process. The main activity of this research is to explore the scientific concepts and processes of ceramic making, using the Type B Higher Order Thinking Learning in Democratic Interaction (HOTL-DI) model. This research begins with conducting observations at the ceramics-making training center in Pulutan Village. . The results of observations of data recording procedures for making ceramics are used as a reference for exploration of scientific concepts and processes. Exploration activities are carried out in 2 stages. The first stage is material exploration. The second stage was an exploration activity by a group of fifth grade physics education students. The results showed the learning process of higher order thinking through exploratory learning, where at the beginning of the exploration activity all students still experienced difficulties, but then their ability to explore objects developed.

Abstract

Utilizing the surrounding environment as source of lessons and relate them with the lessons that studied by the student in school are still rarely done nowadays, which make the students not really understand the relation of context and concept. The purpose of this study is to describe the relation between water cycle context with physics concept and other subject base on the result of concept mastery and the ability to identify the problems in the field. The results showed that the correlation between the physics mastery of phase transition with biology concept of evapotranspiration of 8 students is 0.59, the correlation between observations in field to identify the sewage (solid and liquid) on the river with the sewage treatment technology and water pollution control is 1, and correlation between water cycle concept charts and its components with the students ability to identified water sources in the village, neighbourhood and in other places is 0,89.

Abstract

The temperature in sea water varies at each depth. The temperature of sea water at the surface is higher and the temperature at a deeper point is decreasing slowly. This study aims to determine the model of the temporal, spatial function, and dynamic models of daily temperature gradients above sea level and in sea water. This type of research is included in the type of exploratory research that is quantitative in nature. The research is in Tulaun hamlet, Lalumpe Village, Kombi District, Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The research was conducted for 24 hours at 9 points, ranging from 0 cm, 10 cm, 30 cm, 60 cm, 100 cm, 150 cm, 220 cm, 300cm, to 400cm. The research variables were temperature and light intensity. Data processing in this study is to enter existing data into the Matlab application. The results of the study of changes in the functional model above sea level and in seawater are influenced by the heat absorption process of air temperature.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the temporal function model, spatial temperature and dynamic models of air temperature gradients over the surface of open land, vegetated land, and asphalt surface. The research location is at the State University of Manado in the hills of Tonsaru South Tondano, Minahasa Regency. The research methodology was carried out on three transects at nine altitude positions for 24 hours of measurement time, measuring positions ranging from the ground level to 0cm, 10cm, 30cm, 60cm, 100cm, 150cm, 220cm, 300cm, to 400cm. Data processing carried out in this study is by entering data on air temperature, the measured ground surface into the Matlab application. It can be shown that temporal changes and vertical spatial variations in air temperature show different but relatively the same curve shapes in hot weather conditions during the day, expressed by using a mathematical model of the Fourier function and daily dynamics of air temperature gradients on various land surfaces is influenced by the process of heat absorption and thermal emission processes from the soil in various lands.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the temporal and spatial functions of air temperature and the dynamic function of air temperature gradient over the lake surface. This research method was carried out on two transects at the fish farming location and outside the fish farming location. By taking data at nine altitude positions for 24 hours. Measurement time starts from 05:00 am to 05:00 am, with time intervals of 2 hours. Measurement positions according to the vertical distance from the surface of the lake are: 0cm, 10cm, 30cm, 60cm, 100cm, 150cm, 220cm, 300cm, 400cm. Data processing is carried out by compiling the data format in the form of a matrix, then analyzed using an external program or software that includes temporal and spatial functions, functions and the area of the gradient dynamics. The results of this study indicate that mathematical modeling which produces a continuous function of temporal and spatial changes in microclimate variables allows the development of new parameters, namely the dynamics of air temperature gradients. This research was carried out on two different transects with different conditions of the lake ecosystem and its environment. It shows that the area of the plane is formed by the daily dynamic curve of different air temperature gradients for the two transects.
