Abstract

According to the National Disaster Management Agency, in 2021 there were 5,402 incidents recorded, one of them being drought disasters. During the drought, the availability of clean water was minimal, so clean water assistance came from other areas. The problem that is often encountered in the field is delays in water distribution assistance due to sudden information and the location of the aid is in areas that are difficult to reach. This research developed a water tank technology equipped with a sensor to provide information about water availability, the location of the tank placement to speed up information on dropping water in drought areas. This technology uses the NodeMCU ESP8266 module which functions as a microcontroller, to provide sensor-based information that detects the quantity and quality of water as well as the location of the tank. This system is based on the Internet of Things (IoT) and Blynk Android which makes it easier for people to get information in real time. The water availability indicator is presented in a three-color graphical display, namely green is a safe sign (sufficient water), yellow is a warning sign (water is reduced), and red is a sign that water availability is running low and it is necessary to drop clean water. Other information presented is water quality parameters such as pH, TDS, turbidity, and temperature as well as the location of the tank. This technology supports the achievement of SDGs, namely goals number 6 (clean water and proper sanitation) and 11 (sustainable cities and settlements).

Abstract

Tidal inundation recurs at least twice annually in West Aceh Regency, yet Pasar Aceh Village previously had no Early Warning System (EWS), leaving residents unprepared for recurring flood damage. This community service program, conducted from August to November 2025 with 20 participants, implemented an integrated EWS through four activities: disaster mitigation socialization, EWS training, device installation, and simulation exercises. The program produced an EWS device, a disaster mitigation module, a web-based monitoring system, and a siren alert system. Community competence was evaluated using pre-test and post-test assessments, showing a significant increase in mean scores from 39.7 to 92.0 (a gain of 52.3 points). The installed EWS successfully delivered early warnings prior to flood events, strengthening community coordination and village disaster readiness while improving residents' sense of security in daily activities. These findings confirm that a technology-based community empowerment approach effectively enhances local resilience to tidal inundation, offering a replicable model for similar coastal disaster-prone areas.

Abstract

Suak Baru Village in Simeulue Regency, Aceh, faces challenges in waste management, particularly in the tourist area of Suak Baru Beach. This situation is exacerbated by the lack of adequate waste management facilities, leading to environmental pollution that threatens public health and the area's attractiveness to tourists. The design of this community service program aims to increase the community's preparedness for the adoption of environmentally friendly waste management technologies, specifically composting and plastic recycling methods. The activities include socialization, training, technology implementation, and program sustainability evaluation. The program's results show a significant improvement in the community’s understanding of effective waste management. The use of organic and plastic shredding technology successfully reduced waste volume and created economic value through recycled products. It is hoped that government support and active community participation will ensure the sustainability of this program for a cleaner, healthier environment and improved local economic welfare.
