Abstract

ABSTRACT Well-hydrated skin can perform its function as a good skin barrier. Chronically high levels of glucose level in the blood can disrupt skin hydration homeostasis thereby increasing the incidence of skin disorders. In India 2016, 151 respondence with type 2 diabetes on working age group 85,4% experienced skin disorders. to understand the relationship of random blood glucose levels to skin hydration, especially in working age group. This is a cross-sectional study conducted at the Kalam Kudus II Foundation, Jakarta in February 2023. The sample for this study was employees aged 18-65 years. The required sample size is 75 respondents with total sampling technique. Descriptive data analysis in the form of data distribution for quantitative data, and proportion (%) for qualitative data. Analytical data analysis uses linear regression to see the relationship between variables. The results of statistical analysis using linear regression explained that there was a significant relationship between random blood glucose level (mg/dL) and skin hydration levels (%) (P-value <0.001). The results of the scatter plot graph show a negative gradient line which indicates that the higher random blood glucose level (mg/dL), the lower the skin hydration level (%) (R Square: 0.288). There is a significant relationship between random blood glucose levels with skin hydration in the respondents. The higher random blood glucose level, the lower the skin hydration level. Abstract

ABSTRACT Decreased lung function is a common health problem that affects millions of people worldwide. The prevalence of decreased lung function in the general population has increased from 11.2% to 28.8% in individuals over the age of 50 years. The exact mechanism of these relationships is not fully understood. This study aims to determine the effect of obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, hyperuricemia, and diabetes mellitus on the decline in lung function among working-age workers. This research is a cross-sectional study carried out at the Kalam Kudus Foundation in the period of May 2023 involving productive age respondents aged 18 to 60 years. The minimum sample size required in this study is 50 respondents according to the rule of thumb formula. Descriptive data analysis in the form of centralized data distribution for quantitative data and proportion (%) for qualitative data. Analytical data analysis uses the Linear Regression method, enter method to see which factor has the strongest influence on the dependent variable. The results of the linear regression statistical test revealed that only the Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) level variable had a significant role in affecting lung vital capacity (OR: 0.433; p-value: 0.030). From the analysis results, it was found that LDL levels significantly affect the vital capacity of the lungs. Further research is needed to assess other factors that affect lung vital capacity. Keywords: Lung Vital Capacity, Lipid Profile, Uric Acid, BMI, Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose Level. Abstract

ABSTRACT Diabetes, as a global disease, continues to increase worldwide without being limited by location. The burden of diabetes in the elderly population is a significant health issue. Peripheral neuropathy caused by diabetes is strongly associated with physical limitations in older individuals. This cross-sectional study aims to determine the characteristics of peripheral neuropathy in participants who meet the criteria, using a total sampling at Santa Anna on July 15, 2023, and explore its correlation with blood sugar levels. Evaluation of sensory and motor clinical symptoms using Neuropathy Symptom Score (NSS) questionnaire. Abnormal reflexes and sensory function were assessed using Neuropathy Deficit Score (NDS) questionnaire. Blood sugar levels were measured using POCT method following standard procedures. Statistical analysis using the Kruskall Wallis test. Out of the 68 participants, the average age was 74.06 years, with 67.6% of the participants being female. The overall average blood sugar level was found to be 115.82 mg/dL. Based on the NSS and NDS classifications, 8.8% and 23.5% of the total participants were categorized as having severe symptoms, respectively. The statistical analysis revealed a significant difference in mean blood sugar levels between the NSS groups (p-value: 0.003). However, no significant difference was observed in mean blood glucose levels between the NDS groups (p-value: 0.264). Clinically, the severe symptom group had a higher median blood glucose level compared to the normal group. It is noteworthy that elevated transient blood sugar levels tend to impact the subjective symptoms (NSS) of peripheral neuropathy earlier than the objective symptoms (NDS). Keywords: Blood Glucose, Clinical Symptom, Peripheral Neuropathy  ABSTRAK Sebagai penyakit yang tersebar di seluruh dunia, diabetes terus berkembang tanpa memandang tempat dengan jumlah pasien yang semakin meningkat.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is one of the most common diseases in the world, and its increasing every year. Age is one of many risk factors in hypertension. As we get older, our blood vessels tend to lose some of their elasticity and become stiffer. This can put us at risk for developing high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. It's important to take care of our cardiovascular health as we age to reduce the risk of developing this condition.Purpose: To study the correlation between blood pressure and age.Method: This was a descriptive study conducted in Cipondoh Makmur, Tangerang. The non-random consecutive sampling was used as the sampling technique, and it will be presented as descriptive data. Spearman correlation tests were used to correlate blood pressure and age if the data distribution is not normal.Result: There were 103 individuals who met the criteria, with an average age of 51.71 (12.80) years, mean systolic blood pressure of 126.2 (22.25) mmHg, and mean diastolic blood pressure of 74.46 (11.49) mmHg. A significant correlation between age and systolic blood pressure was observed (p-value: 0.001; r: 0.323, indicating a weak association), while no significant correlation was found between age and diastolic blood pressure. Conclusion: The physiological aging process is an unavoidable risk factor for hypertension. It is crucial to Increase awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and optimal hypertension control.
