Abstract

Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui kulitas tanah dan arah pemanfaatannya di lahan sawah. Penelitian dilaksanakan mulai September sampai dengan November 2021 di lahan sawah Kelompok Tani Handil Sukamaju (Desa Cipta Graha, Kecamatan Kaubun, Kab Kutai Timur). Metode yang digunakan adalah metode survey dan penentuan kelas kualitas tanah menggunakan metode Lal. Analisis tanah dilakukan di Laboratorium Ilmu Tanah, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Mulawarman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan BV SPL 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 tanpa faktor pembatas. Tekstur tanah Loam, Silty Loam - Silty Clay Loam. Porositas tanah 47,43% – 55,51%. pH tanah SPL 1, 2 dan 6, tergolong faktor tanpa pembatas hingga faktor pembatas sedang. SPL 3, 4, 5, 7 dan 8 tergolong faktor pembatas berat hingga faktor pembatas ekstrem. KTK SPL 1, 2, 6 tergolong faktor tanpa pembatas hingga faktor pembatas berat. SPL 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 tergolong faktor pembatas ekstrim. KB tanah seluruh SPL tergolong faktor pembatas ringan hingga faktor pembatas sedang. P tersedia seluruh SPL tergolong faktor pembatas ekstrim. N total seluruh SPL tergolong faktor pembatas sedang hingga faktor pembatas berat. C organik tergolong faktor pembatas ringan hingga faktor pembatas sedang. C-biomassa seluruh SPL tergolong faktor pembatas ekstrim. Berdasarkan hasil analisis sifat fisik, kimia dan biologi tanah yang disesuaikan dengan faktor pembatas dan bobot relatif maka diperoleh hasil Indeks Kualitas Tanah : SPL 1, 2, 5 dan 6 tergolong kualitas tanah sedang, SPL 3, 4, 7 dan 8 tergolong kualitas tanah buruk. Perbaikan kualitas tanah dapat dilakukan dengan pemberian bahan organik dari limbah pertanian

Abstract

Post-mining soils are commonly characterized by poor chemical properties that limit plant growth and agricultural productivity. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Ketapang (Terminalia catappa) leaf compost as an organic soil ameliorant for improving soil chemical properties and supporting lettuce cultivation on post-mining land. The experiment was conducted using several proportions of Ketapang leaf compost incorporated into post-mining soil as planting media. Observed parameters included soil chemical properties, namely soil pH, organic carbon, total nitrogen, and available phosphorus, as well as lettuce growth indicators such as plant height, leaf width, leaf number, and biomass. The results demonstrated that increasing the proportion of Ketapang leaf compost significantly enhanced soil organic carbon, total nitrogen, and available phosphorus contents. Soil pH also improved at higher compost application rates, indicating better chemical conditions for plant growth. Improvements in soil chemical properties were accompanied by enhanced lettuce growth performance, particularly in plant height, leaf width, and fresh biomass. The parameters of number of leaves and dry biomass did not show significant differences. Ketapang leaf compost has strong potential as a sustainable organic ameliorant for rehabilitating post-mining soils while supporting lettuce production. The utilization of locally available organic materials offers an environmentally friendly approach to land restoration and sustainable horticultural development.
