Abstract

The research written in this article is motivated by the existence of a phenomenon which shows that some students at Smart Public High Schools in Riau Province do not yet have or lack the character of caring for the environment, for example their attitudes are not cleaning the bed, not turning off the lights after use, not participating in mutual cooperation and throwing away littering, while in the Smart State High School dormitory a dormitory program has been implemented which regulates all student activities for 24 hours in the dormitory. Therefore, the researcher is interested in conducting research with the aim of knowing whether there is an effect of the boarding program on the formation of the character of caring for the environment for students at SMA Negeri Pintar, Riau Province. The location of this research was carried out at the Smart State Senior High School in Riau Province which was based on a dormitory. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative with data collection techniques, namely questionnaires (questionnaires), interviews and documentation. Based on the results of statistical calculations, Tcount (8.031) Ttable (2.017) means that Ha is accepted. Based on the results of the linear regression equation, the equation is Y = 2.286 + 0.911X meaning that if the hostel program (X) has increased by 1%, then the character of caring for the environment (Y) has increased by 0.911. So that it can be concluded from the results of the T test that there is an influence between variable X on variable Y, meaning that Ha is accepted, namely: there is an influence of the boarding program on the formation of the character of caring for the environment of students at SMA Negeri Pintar Riau Province.

Abstract

Pancasila Education at the Vocational High School (SMK) level still encounters challenges, notably low student achievement driven by the prevalence of conventional instructional methods and a lack of active student participation. This study was conducted to evaluate the impact of implementing a peer teaching method integrated with the Wayground application as an innovative strategy to enhance learning outcomes.Employing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest control group design, the study involved 42 eleventh-grade students from SMKN 1 Perhentian Raja, categorized into experimental and control classes. Learning outcomes were measured using a test instrument previously validated and tested for reliability to ensure data integrity. The findings indicate a significant improvement in learning outcomes within the experimental group compared to the control group. This is evidenced by t-test results, where the thitung > the ttabel at a 0.05 significance level, supported by an N-gain score in the 'moderate' category. Consequently, this study concludes that the Wayground-assisted peer teaching method effectively improves student performance in Pancasila Education and serves as a highly relevant instructional alternative for vocational high schools.

Abstract

Globalization has brought significant and multidimensional changes to the social life of the people of Simpang Baru Village, Binawidya District, Pekanbaru City, influencing patterns of behavior, interaction, and values through the rapid flow of information, technology, and global culture. This study aims to describe and analyze the impact of globalization on technology use, economic activities, cultural practices, and social interaction within the local community by employing a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving community members and local stakeholders to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon. The findings indicate that globalization has generated positive impacts, particularly in the technological aspect, where easier access to information and communication technologies has improved efficiency in daily activities and expanded community knowledge. Economically, globalization has opened new opportunities through digital platforms, small businesses, and access to broader markets, contributing to improved livelihoods and economic growth. In terms of lifestyle, the community has increasingly adopted modern ways of living characterized by practicality and global connectivity. However, the study also reveals several challenges arising from globalization, including weakened face-to-face social interaction as digital communication becomes more dominant, a gradual decline in local cultural values and traditions, especially among younger generations, and increased dependence on technology that reduces social sensitivity and communal solidarity. In conclusion, globalization presents both opportunities and challenges for the social life of the Simpang Baru community; therefore, it needs to be managed wisely so that its benefits can be maximized without neglecting local cultural identity and the preservation of social cohesion.
