Abstract

Balancing academic talent with personal and academic resilience is essential for sustaining students’ commitment to their studies. Counseling programs aim to reinforce personal resilience and enhance persistence among students. This study explores the individual and combined effects of academic talent and personal resilience on study persistence. It also evaluates student responses to three academic support initiatives: the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT), Academic Guidance and Counseling (BKA), and Advanced Educational Guidance and Counseling (BEKAL). A quantitative research design was employed with 233 student participants. Academic talent was assessed using the DAT, personal resilience via the Resilience Scale for Adolescents (READ), and study persistence through the Persistence/Voluntary Dropout Decisions Scale. Multiple regression analysis was used to examine the relationships between these variables. Findings revealed statistically significant positive correlations between academic talent and personal resilience, academic talent and study persistence, and personal resilience and study persistence (all p = 0.000). Academic talent and personal resilience together accounted for 57% of the variance in study persistence. Additionally, students expressed favorable views of the DAT, BKA, and BEKAL programs, citing their value in guiding academic major selection. The results underscore the importance of integrating academic and personal development strategies in educational planning. Counseling interventions like DAT, BKA, and BEKAL can play a critical role in fostering resilience and improving student persistence.

Abstract

Background: Strengthening the value of religious moderation is a strategic agenda in Islamic boarding school education, especially among adolescent students who are vulnerable to the influence of extreme ideologies and the unfiltered flow of digital information. Purpose of the Study: This Qaryah Thayyibah-based community service program aims to revitalize the value of religious moderation among adolescent students at the Nurul Muttaqin Islamic Boarding School in Malang through the integration of psychological counseling and communication. Methods: The implementation method includes four stages: (1) assessing students' needs to identify challenges related to religious moderation; (2) psychologically based individual and group counseling focusing on emotional management, strengthening self-identity, and problem-solving skills; (3) focus group discussions (FGDs) emphasizing reflection on the values of tolerance, balance, justice, and deliberation; and (4) effective communication simulations that foster empathy, openness, and respect for differences. Results: The results of the activity indicate a significant increase in students' understanding of the principles of religious moderation, healthy communication skills, and the ability to manage differences constructively. Counseling has proven effective in helping students reflect on their spiritual and social experiences, fostering a new awareness of the importance of living a moderate, peaceful, and inclusive life. These findings demonstrate the contribution of community service in building the character of adolescent students based on Islamic values of rahmatan lil 'alamin (blessing for the universe) while strengthening a harmonious pesantren culture.

Abstract

This study examines how integrating multiple simulation techniques enhances microteaching performance in preparing pre-service teachers to develop pedagogical, managerial, and reflective skills. The research aims to analyze how role-play, peer simulation, scenario-based teaching, and digital micro-simulation collectively improve instructional competence, confidence, and classroom readiness. A qualitative research design was employed, with data collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, reflective journals, and documentation involving instructors and pre-service teachers. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns in simulation-based learning. The findings show that integrating various simulation techniques creates a more authentic and dynamic learning environment, allowing students to practice teaching in situations that reflect real classrooms. Role-play and peer simulation enhance communication and classroom management, while scenario-based and digital simulations strengthen problem-solving, adaptability, and reflective thinking. Overall, students demonstrate increased confidence, improved lesson planning, clearer instruction, and more effective interaction strategies, indicating that integrating multiple simulations significantly improves microteaching effectiveness.
