Abstract

Ethnoeconomics is a branch of ethnobotany that studies the role of plants that have economic value, one of which is as traditional medicine by an ethnic group or ethnomedicine. The purpose of this study was to inventory traditional medicinal plants of the Bugis tribe in South Sulawesi as ethnomedicines. The research was conducted from November 2022 to January 2023 in Pallae Village, Cenrana District, Bone Regency, South Sulawesi. This type of the research  was qualitative descriptive, to describe the use of plants as traditional medicine. Data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and literature studies. Respondents were selected by purposive sampling. Research data were analyzed descriptively and compared with scientific data or scientific data. Based on the results of the study, the types of plants used as traditional medicine by the Bugis tribe in the research location were noni, belimbing wuluh, sidaguri, areca nut, moringa, broken glass, cat's whiskers, ginger, bangle, turmeric, lemongrass, aloe vera, betel, tobacco, soursop and bagore. Abstract

This research aims to describe the ecological values of meiobenthos as a bioindicator of water quality at Losari Beach, Makassar. The sampling method used was the purposive sampling method. The determination of the research location was also based on previous research which described the coastal location of Losari Beach as being polluted by chemicals and dangerous metals. The research data were then analyzed statistically to calculate meiobenthos density, diversity index, and uniformity index. The research results showed that the abundance of meiobenthos found during the research was 66946 indv/m2, consisting of 12 phyla and 91 species/genus. The stations at the mouth of the Tallo River, Jeneberang River, and Tanjung Merdeka are research stations that have high abundance. The phylum oligochaeta, ostracoda, tunicata, and ciliophora are phyla with high abundance compared to other phyla. Based on the research results, it was concluded that this phylum has a high level of adaptation to the entry of various pollutants into water bodies. The diversity and uniformity index shows that the meiobenthos types in Losari are classified as having a high and even diversity index. The dominance index also shows that no single meiobenthos type is dominant, except for those in the reclamation project area. Temperature, current speed, depth, brightness, salinity, pH, DO, seawater nitrate, and seawater phosphate have a correlation or relationship with the abundance of meiobenthos on Losari Beach, Makassar.

Abstract

AbstrakPengetahuan yang sifatnya up to date diperlukan untuk melatih dan meningkatkan kecakapan atau profesionalisme peserta didik khususnya siswa/i SMA yang mempelajari materi bioteknologi. Perkembangan bioteknologi yang semakin berkembang memiliki peranan yang sangat luas dalam kehidupan. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu meningkatkan kompetensi siswa/i SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Kakap melalui praktikum isolasi dan ekstraksi DNA secara sederhana. Kegiatan pengabdian ini terdiri dari tiga tahapan yaitu tahapan persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Peserta pengabdian ini adalah siswa/i kelas XII IPA1 dan IPA2 SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Kakap sebanyak 60 orang. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah sosisalisasi berupa penyampaian informasi melalu ceramah dan praktek. Materi yang disampaikan adalah peranan DNA dalam perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan, metode yang digunakan dalam isolasi DNA serta alat dan bahan yang dibutuhkan untuk isolasi DNA. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah adanya peningkatan kompetensi siswa/i SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Kakap melalui praktikum isolasi dan ekstraksi DNA secara sederhana. Kegiatan ini telah menambah pengalaman dan pengetahuan siswa. Kata kunci: isolasi DNA; kitchen preparation method; SMAN 1 Sungai Kakap AbstractUp to date knowledge is needed to train and improve the skills or professionalism of students, especially high school students who study biotechnology material. The increasingly developing development of biotechnology has a very broad role in life. The aim of this service activity is to increase the competency of students at SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Kakap through simple DNA isolation and extraction practice. This service activity consists of three stages, namely the preparation, implementation and evaluation stages. Participants in this service were 60 students of class XII IPA1 and IPA2 of SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Kakap. The method used in this service is outreach in the form of conveying information through lectures and practice. The material presented is the role of DNA in the development of science, the methods used in DNA isolation as well as the tools and materials needed for DNA isolation. The result of this service activity is an increase in the competency of students at SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Kakap through simple DNA isolation and extraction practice. Abstract

Education about the role of probiotics and the optimization of prebiotics to support probiotics is necessary. Prebiotics are foods or drinks that, when consumed, will improve a person's quality of life. However, due to the perception of partners that probiotics are expensive, and partners' ignorance about the factors supporting probiotic growth, steps are needed to educate partners so they can understand prebiotics and probiotics, which ultimately will improve their health. The purpose of this community service activity is to educate partners about the benefits of probiotics and prebiotics, provide education and examples of probiotic and prebiotic sources that can be obtained from the surrounding environment. The method used is ABCD (Asset-Based Community Development), which utilizes and optimizes the potential of human resources and natural resources. The steps of the PKM activity include preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results of the intervention showed that this activity increased partners' knowledge from 47% to 95%. This activity also showed high enthusiasm from partners, as seen from active discussions. The results of testimonials showed that partners hope that activities like this can be carried out regularly.

Abstract

The residents of Sungai Malaya Village are farmers. One of the agricultural commodities cultivated by the local community is taro. Lack of knowledge and skills causes people to consume taro only as fried or boiled processed products. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out community empowerment activities for farmers, especially women farmers through training in diversified taro processing as an effort to improve skills while increasing the economic value of taro. The purpose of the activity is to increase the economic value of taro through education and practice of innovative diversification of processed tubers and taro flour for women farmers in Sungai Malaya Village. The methods used in this community service are community education and the ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) method, which includes the preparation, implementation and evaluation stages. The ABCD method was chosen because of the assets owned, namely natural resource assets (taro) and human resource sets (the spirit of wanting to change). The results of the service show that the taro processed products taught to partners are taro chips, taro onde-onde, taro sponge cake, and taro brownies. This activity can run smoothly because of the full support of the activity partners. Based on these results, it can be concluded that this activity can increase partners' knowledge and skills regarding innovative diversification of taro tuber processing.

Abstract

Meningkatnya permintaan dan beragamnya preferensi masyarakat terhadap produk kosmetik turut mendorong permintaan produk kosmetik berbasis bahan alami terus meningkat, sehingga dibutuhkan inovasi dalam pembuatan sabun mandi padat berbahan dasar alami. Selain berfungsi sebagai pembersih tubuh, sabun juga dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pengharum ruangan maupun souvenir. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mentransfer pengetahuan mengenai teknologi pembuatan sabun natural soap-base dari Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) dan ekstrak Aloe vera kepada siswa kelas XI IPA di MAN 1 Pontianak. Metode yang digunakan meliputi penyampaian materi secara teoritis melalui ceramah dan praktik langsung dengan metode cold-process. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 37 siswa kelas XI IPA MAN 1 Pontianak. Evaluasi pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta mengenai prinsip pembentukan sabun, dari 37,8% menjadi 78,3%, serta pengetahuan tentang bahan utama dan tambahan dalam sabun, dari 35,1% menjadi 75,7%. Partisipasi aktif dan tanggapan positif dari peserta menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan ini berhasil meningkatkan keterampilan siswa serta menumbuhkan semangat kewirausahaan. Diharapkan kegiatan serupa dapat terus dikembangkan guna memperluas wawasan dan keterampilan siswa dalam bidang industri kosmetik berbasis bahan alami.
