Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit Indonesia since March 2020 suddenly forced learning from elementary to tertiary levels to be carried out online. The LINE application is a social media platform that has live features. This application is an alternative that is used as a means of emergency learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study aimed to describe the perceptions of Sanata Dharma University PGSD students on the effectiveness of online learning using the LINE application. The subjects of this study were 252 students. The method used is descriptive quantitative through online surveys. This study's results were the students' perceptions of using the LINE application on the effectiveness of learning showed that 73.4% of students received clear levels of information. As many as 67, 9% of students stated that they were ready to accept learning, as many as 71% of students were motivated, as many as 58.7% of students stated that they were effective in terms of time, 63.5% of students felt that the learning objectives were achieved, as many as 67.9% of students stated that the use of LINE was quite attractive and interactive, and 71% stated that the use of the LINE application was sufficient to support learning. Students also conveyed that the advantages of this application are saving on internet quota usage, while the weakness of this application is the absence of a recording feature. This research concludes that students' perceptions state that using the LINE application is effective for learning. 5% of students felt that the learning objectives were achieved, as many as 67.9% of students stated that the use of LINE was quite attractive and interactive, and as many as 71% stated that using the LINE application was sufficient to support learning. Students also conveyed that this application's advantages are saving on internet quota usage, while the weakness of this application is the absence of a recording feature.

Abstract

Abstract: Computational Thinking (CT) covers a wide range of cognitive skills that can be expressed in a variety of contexts. This study aims to determine the ability of computational thinking in VB grade students at Kanisius Sorowajan Elementary School through the subject of mathematics in geometrical material. The method used in this research is descriptive with a quantitative approach. The subjects in this study were 25 students of class VB SD Kanisius Sorowajan. Data collection techniques in the form of tests. The data analysis technique is in the form of descriptive analysis. The test instrument is in the form of student worksheets that have been modified by applying the CT foundation. The results of the study revealed that students have very good computational thinking for the foundations of pattern recognition, abstraction and decomposition. Meanwhile, computational thinking with an algorithm foundation is at a good stage. By this it shows students have the knowledge to integrate CT in mathematics. Furthermore, it can be concluded that students have very good computational thinking even though they have never been specifically taught CT subjects. Keywords: geometry, computational thinking, learningAbstrak: Computational Thinking (CT) mencakup beragam keterampilan kognitif yang dapat diekspresikan dalam berbagai konteks. Abstract

The learning process changed from classroom to online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the things that must be done is to analyze the readiness of lecturers in facing online learning. The purpose of this study is to cluster the profiles of lecturers dealing with online learning. The clustering method uses a Machine Learning approach with the K-means algorithm. Data were taken from 274 lecturers who returned questionnaires during April–June 2022. The questionnaire consisted of 27 questions on a Likert scale (1–4). The Boruta technique is used to determine the five most significant variables (Variable Importance) in the clustering. The results of the clustering show that the lecturers are divided into 2 large groups with the following criteria: focus on learning methods, learning materials, student independence, exploration of new knowledge, and online learning evaluation tools.

Abstract

Research on mathematical representations has predominantly emphasized their cognitive and conceptual benefits; however, limited attention has been given to their emotional dimensions, especially within culturally grounded or ethnomathematical contexts. This gap is critical because emotions play a significant role in shaping preservice teachers’ engagement and long-term attitudes toward mathematics. Addressing this issue, the present study introduces a novel perspective by examining how mathematical representations influence the affective responses of prospective primary teachers when tasks are embedded in cultural practices. Employing a mixed-methods design, the study involved 62 preservice teachers who completed a patterning task based on the Javanese Sedekah Bumi ceremony, followed by a researcher-developed questionnaire measuring enjoyment. The results reveal that 79.03% of participants successfully translated verbal descriptions into graphical forms, reflecting a strong visual preference, and that flexible use of multiple representations (72.54%) enhanced both conceptual understanding and positive emotional engagement. Conversely, reliance on a single representation was associated with lower confidence and reduced enjoyment. Notably, 19.35% of participants explicitly reported that the integration of cultural elements increased their motivation and interest. These findings highlight the potential of culturally embedded mathematical tasks not only to foster representational fluency but also to enrich the affective domain, offering valuable implications for the design of teacher education curricula that promote both cognitive and emotional development in mathematics learning.

Abstract

Computational Thinking is included as a learning approach that can identify patterns, solve complex problems into simpler steps, organize and create a series of steps in providing solutions. This study aims to analyze the ability of students' foundations of abstraction, pattern recognition, and algorithms through the application of the Computational Thinking approach. The research method used is descriptive research with a case study type. This study uses quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques. The subjects of this study were 24 third grade students who were divided into 12 small groups at Bhaktikarya Public Elementary School. The results of this study indicate that the application of the Computational Thinking approach to the results of Student Worksheets that apply students' abstraction foundation skills, pattern recognition, and algorithms through the application of the Computational Thinking approach obtained an average percentage of 66%. This percentage is in the sufficient category.
